Hey, did you know that the ESA (Entertainment Software Association) supports SOPA? Big time! The ESA also produces E3 every year. E3 is awesome, but SOPA isn't. SOPA is the opposite of awesome. I checked out the Japanese version of this the other day. In Japan this is called "Sonikku 3" and has slight variations to the graphic and gameplay including new sprites, new music and it being a 2D platformer instead of a SHMUP. Still... It's a really interesting game, even though I think they improved it significantly in the western version, from what I can tell off this review.

The music on this game is awesome.. I have this on a shadey MVS cart and the drum and bass sountrack is great, I'm sure the Neo-Geo CD version has even better music/arrange remixes.

@kingshott1 sonic wings is easy to find for MAME or on ps1 or ps2, but if u wanna play those newer cave shmups i mentioned you gotta find a specific version of MAME bacouls the newest has them taken out. if your lucky you van find some western releases, i found deathsmiles and dodonpachi resurection for xbox360 in my local gamestore, also theres some on XBL.

For the PS2 you have Gradius V, Gunbird 1 and 2, R-Type Final, Raiden III, Mushihimesama, Dodonpachi DOJ, Espgaluda, Dragon Blaze, Shikigami No Shiro II, Trizeal, XII Stag, Thunderforce VI, Ibara, Psyvariar.......

Not many worth mentioning for the PS3. The 360 is the new home for shmups this generation.

Out of the three original Sonic Wings games, I find this one to be the least balanced weapon-wise, but is still very fun. Soundtrack is pretty nuts too (orchestral jungle, who knew?).
