Buddy Miles died on February 26, 2008, at his home in Austin, Texas at the age of 60. According to his website he died of congestive heart disease, His sister and mother both died of the same illness.
It is known that his heart had certainly been struggling, working at only 15%, and his health had been consistently deteriorating over the past few months. According to friends, "he had turned off his defibrillator and was ready for heaven.
There was no funeral; Miles was cremated.

Haha im in middle school and we're playing this song in jazz band. I play 3rd chair trumpet... They changed it a bit. The 2nd and 4th trumpets and sxaphones play the vocals. I love this song!

saw Buddy play this in Indy when he was the warm up act for Three Dog Night. Man that cat could play those skins =) Concert was in the State Fair Grounds Colusiem. He's the one that made me decide to pick up drums. Rock on Buddy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
