BTW Spoilers

Shepherd is the leader of the Task Force 141 and Rangers in the game. He appears to be a supporting character but reveals himself as main villain when he kill's "Roach" and "Ghost" (two of his own men). He started WWIII to put himself in a position of greater power so he could destroy the Ultranationalist's after they killed his 30000 marines from the last game (the bomb) and he didn't care who had to die to make this plan work.

They help put the story together so you can fully understand it (not that you already dont, just saying if you dont lol) and whenever its "baseplate" that is macmillan.
