  • I do the same and works for 8 months but today same problem again, how reemplace, where buy any cheap one that match with my model? any help? pleaseeeeeee

  • @anderzom The reasons for the 8800 card failure in most cases is the bad choice of soldier used in the manu process and shabby work done to position the pads and paste for an effective cooling solution, as seen in my video. Success rates with the bake will vary, as well as a GPU reflow. If the card is not of any value to you in the state it is in atm, then re-bake it as I show in the video. Your not out anything to try. Be sure to observe the pad and paste segment and usingEVGA Precision

  • @TheCoreLogic you looks more pro for do it! even I would pay for fix mine, I bake 3 times in 1 year, I apply the cooling liquid but nathing more, maybe I go to buy more liquid and reemplace, I dont reemplace all! just some parts; I was think in buy a new one: Apple ATI Radeon 5770 1 GB ZML MC742ZM/A I think that works, what you think? thanks

  • @anderzom The ATI Radeon 5770 seems to have good reviews and would be a better idea than messing with the NVidia 8800 anymore. If it's within you bugdet to get the new card, then I would say to go for it, especially if you like gamin!

  • thanks for the quick repply i will do the same then thanks again for this video tutorial .

  • is your gpu still working like normal? mine has the same problem but my thermal pads are fine and i have a cheap thermal paste too :)

  • @dgo401 It's been 9 months now and my video card is still working without any signs of the original problem I had with it! New pads and paste made a big difference in dropping temps, which I manage with EVGA Precision.

  • first timer right here, bake my 8800GT on sunday with success. 2 weeks before i got code 43 error, so no gaming and sometimes movie too !! what a funny moment, use my outdated/ old style oven, have to setup manually the Celcious (not fahrenheit). after baked, try it....and the problem is gone. So, right here i want to thanks everyone who gives the lesson (others videos too)....your save my GPU. Gaming continued.......

  • it is really difficult to get the thermal pads in my country... do you know any other alternatives or way around it i could use?

  • @nakariri Most of my suppliers are showing this pad to be out of stock at the moment. I am checking some other sources. The pad is a must in order to prevent any heat build up and subsequent failure at a later date.

  • I cooked it gpu face down since a lot of ppl's guides were done that way :/

My card was a friend's ATI 4850 was a HIS i think.... Used a Vortexx neo cooler as a replacement. Card sometimes (for him) artefacts on boot and artefacts (for me) when in 3D mode.

Just tested with a 10 min game of MW3 :3

  • @ig33ku Can a card be baked upside down?..Yes..Can it work?..Yes...Is baking one upside down a good idea?..No way, bad idea!!! You run the risk of components falling off the board during the bake process! This has happened to others. A GPU reflow process is always down with the GPU facing up, and that’s what the baking process simulates....

  • @TheCoreLogic I guess if u got over 200C... surface tension should hold the component on at 200C.... higher will probably 'liquefy(?)' the solder too much to lose surface tension... my guess anyways :/

  • @ig33ku

Did mine at 200, totally killed it.

  • @BleedingSunday Depends.... if the circuits in the chip didnt break due to the heat of overheating baking it should recover it. But if it did... no matter how much u reflow it gonna work. Allows to mem chips on the card too.

  • @ig33ku "aint gonna work"

  • @ig33ku

Well like i said; i used 200 celcius for about 5 min and it was burned black, just letting people know, its better to check with your oven how efficient it is (or maybe older card models have different max temp) Just letting people know :)

  • @BleedingSunday U didnt use a ir temp gun or some form of temp checking? :/

  • @ig33ku

No, its not something i have around the house.. I have a oven wich i can set at diff temps, butthat was overkill. Stop asking questions that dont matter

  • @BleedingSunday If it dont matter than the result u r seeking dont matter too.

  • @ig33ku Wrong, people could be warned about testing at lower temps first..

  • @BleedingSunday Frankly, I dont see why no one cant buy one of those turkey thermostats n just place it on the tray so they have a 2nd temp monitor.

As for ur problem, u either: cooked it too high or longer than 10mins. Or u place the tray with the card close to the heating element instead of dead centre of the oven.

  • @ig33ku

Instead of trying to "whatever you said, im right because my ego is of the chart" stop replying.

As for ur problem: you werent there so stop making shit up.

  • @BleedingSunday I admit I have an ego can you admit you cocked up? Maybe if you explained what you did to get the card to bur II won't have to play pin the tail on the jackass. You want to help people about the dangers of doing this list the steps you took so we can avoid it instead of crying wolf when you trip and fell fetching water from the well.

  • 08:50 shouldn't that be "...withOUT any problems..."? ;-)

  • @tannalv Yep, your right! Noticed that after I uploaded the video, but figured people would understand what I was trying to say... lol

  • Done mine for 9 minutes @ 180 celsius and it works perfectly :D

  • I'm shocked, but this actually worked for me! My card spontaneously failed last night -- odd lines on the screen, then total blackout and no video signal period, and no reboot -- and left me at odds. Figuring I had nothing to lose, I gave this a shot and it worked on the first try.

    Fantastic!

  • how long she had worked since the furnace?

  • @vadomeer Today makes 6 and a half months and it is still working great with no signs of any problems! I'm sure the new pads and paste have gone a long way to reduce heat on the card as it don't get as hot when I first got it. I run the computer an average of 15 hours a day, so this has been a great test for this type of fix!

  • my nvidia 98gt 1gb have same probm it could not work to give me clear graphic and could not install its driver, what should i do? plz solve me this probm, thnx

  • @mudassirking Follow the steps in this video as closely as possible and bake the card as described. If you are not certain about the steps to do so, send me any questions in a message, I will try and help the best I can.

  • I`v tried this 3 times now with 3 different graphics cards none of them worked and stayed the same, what am I doing wrong,is it perhaps because I have a gas cooker?

  • @NickMalti1981 Message sent...

  • i've the same VGA and the same problem only when i run 3d games as cod2 and Medal of honor airborne etc.Do you think this method will work also for me?

  • i have had my laptop for 1 2 years now, and about the 3rd month in to havign it i got a red pixilation where ever black was to be seen, no other errors but basicly the same pixilation with various colours, iv got by includign going on holiday with it, anyway do you think i could do this same trik (iv been advised to get it professionally reflowed but haven't the money, my laptops an acer 8930 and has a nvidia 9700m in plus i was thinking of geting the artic silver paste from ebuyer.pads r fine

  • i used a clamp to srot the problem and constantly but im constantly havi ng to reposition which sugests the need for reflow. but will it work the same?

  • @phillcom3 I would not try this with a laptop or laptop components! Try and raise the money to have it professionally done. With a reflow machine, you can isolate the GPU from the rest of the board circuits. If you bake the whole computer board, you’ll expose other areas to a high rate of heat and probably damage other components in the process.

  • -UPDATE-

Been over 2 months now and the card is still working great with no problems! The temps have never gone over 60C, in fact it's currently running at 53C at 35% fan!

  • @TheCoreLogic i've the same VGA and the same problem only when i run 3d games as fear3 or cod5 etc.Do you think this method will work also for me?

  • @Mnemotron2010 Message is sent to your inbox

  • @TheCoreLogic ok tnx

  • Remove anything in the way, heatsinks, thermal paste, pads, etc! Clean any residue before the baking step. It will still smoke at 395F and be sure to run your exhaust fan. You are emulating a reflow process in your oven which will affect everything on the card when you bake it. Just fyi, all the capacitors and other components survived the bake process, even my stickers on the card. It's been a month and a half now, and the card is still working great with no signs of problems.
