Yes, I KNOW the L.N. station may be the unsafest crossing of the L.I.R.R. But people in L.N. are smart and know how to get out of the way....usually. I hope that there may soon be barriers like there are at other L.I.R.R. stations, though. There will be, I'm sure.....IF people are willing to pay for it with higher (temporary!) taxes. Thanks for a glimpse at whre I went to a lot when I lived in L.N. (sniff!) :
I just got off the phone again with all relevant agencies and groups. By now they should know I AM NOT GOING AWAY. In fact, I had to attend our mandatory 19-A CE refresher class yesterday, and I made it known to all in the room that they needed to check on their drivers at railroad tracks.
NOTICE TO ALL...I have realized that on several occaisions when I have entered replies to specific entries, YOUTUBE'S system drops them in the wrong order. So sometimes a reply you see was actually for someone else. I have no idea how to rectify that.
I will have to double check the video.. but my position is not whether the passengers being transported possess any physical or mental limitations, but that this dangerous behaviour is being done at all. All human life is important, and those who are not even on the bus or train are also in danger.
I noticed that none of the bus drivers opened their doors to look before crossing the tracks. When I was riding the bus in school, our bus driver ALWAYS opened the door when coming to the track, looked both ways, and then proceeded to cross.
I guess you did not actually listen to the audio in the video. Your answers are there. By the way, there is a LOT more to the procedure than a 'light' being on. I am an Instructor... I teach this procedure.
I rewatched the video and I see your point(s) there. I did notice that the drivers (bus) either did not know what they were doing or they were too impatient. Also the loading and unloading lights that are on and were not supposed to be at that time. I wish we did have more instructors like you to make people aware of these dangerous situations.
According to the NY state drivers handbook, school buses are to stop at a railroad crossing with their lights on which appears to be the case above. So what are they doing wrong?

It's the question I ask all the authoritative agencies I speak to. I am currently awaiting a response from any of them.

I get mad every time I watch one of your videos. Are they waiting for another major accident before they decide to try and enforce the law?
