  • Can a tri-rotor still be used as a everyday car? or is it to uncomfortable?

  • @OzcarMtl of course it can be use as an everyday car, but be ready to visit gas stations very often for two reasons, 3 rotors are gas eaters, and you would always want to step on it just to listen that awesome 3 rotor tune. Either way If I had one I wouldn't give a F* about gas, and just enjoy the ride

  • @deadbeat86 LOL dude seriously I would pull up next to every other car esp. sports cars and look over and rev it just so they'd be like OMG what kind of rotor engine is that 1.8? LOL

  • can you make upgarde on wankel engine from 3 to 4 rotor... if is that possible... : )

  • @G3Fful the problem is the crank , you'd need a 4 rotor crank. if you find a place to forge you one than you're good . But from what I've heard they cost quite a bit . plus you know you still have all the electronics to do . timing .. adding the extra rotor into the rotation , custom exhaust , custom intake , ECU tunning , it can be done just not for an average person's Dime.

  • ANYONE KNOW THE NAME OF THAT SONG?

  • how much does a 3 rotor weigh??

  • 20b pp hell yea

  • TEACH ME HOW TO REBUILD A 20B plz

  • 20b rotaries are amazing, for me 20b NA is good enough with ITB's

  • i'am about to make myself a trirotor ro80,i want the rotors turnover the shaft on needlbearings,,,do you have some expearians with this??

    greetings

  • How much does it weight?

  • @lostinseganet 300Ib or so

  • wow rotories are soo easy!

  • Vipers are turds unless you are going straight, and it doesn't take much skill to press a gas pedal.

  • all that just 4 somethng that gana blow up lol jj kids

  • It's more a 2 stroke engine then a 4 stroke. It's more efficiant at higher rpm's like the 2 stroke as well.

  • It really is an amazing design...So simple yet so advanced...Love the rotary engine...I had an old Suzuki RE5 with a single rotor rotary engine...It was a motorcycle...

  • What a beautiful and simple engine design, this is truly a master piece!

  • at 0.09 seconds i can see that on the middle plate (iron plate) there is silver adaptor..wat is it?

  • @PSOEAST I believe you are looking at where the oil fill tube goes. Looks like a custom fitting, they just press in.

  • @PSOEAST pretty sure thats where the oil filler cap is spoose to be.

  • I want speedsource to build me a 20b for my 8. What do you think they cost? 50g's? More?

  • @mpalm887 Much less than 50k lol you could get a quad rotor for less than 50.

  • @JulianoRamirez I think a NA 20B install is actually under 20k including labor but you are getting a re-manufactured engine (obviously) whereas these boys are using original parts. I'm looking to make about 375whp in naturally aspirated form. One guy I talked to said he could do all the labor for 10k and the engine would be about 4-5k. That sounds excellent but I don't know how reputable he was.

  • @mpalm887 that sounds right to me, hell itll be 7 or 8 if you were to do it yourself.

  • That engine is so foreign my brain exploded when I watched this... Those things are crazy!

  • This video would be cool if it had better music.

  • @clayfight3r

your comment would be cooler if you didnt actually click "post"

  • i guess thats made on one day so these guys are REALLY fast !!!!

  • shitty music

  • Peripheral port for the fucking win!

  • @RotorDemon BRAP BRAP BRAP

  • its like the sexiest hamburger ever made...

  • So much power to liter, yes but dont forget about efficiency!! Love the motors but its not till you drive one and pay for the gas that you notice.

  • @XhimoX its all in the tuning that gets you fuel efficiency, and not many people tune for that.... everyone tunes for power.

  • If ONLY it was as simple as it looks, if only....

  • thats an amazing engine. and very easy to rebuilt.

  • incredible engine the 3 rotor is! Imagine how much power would be made if F1 teams could develop rotary engines!

  • read up on the LeMans race... reliable? pfft

  • i know... i already said that. i realised late but not too late. and the point is you CAN run it on boost, much more than a normal cylinder engine.

  • Theoretically yes. But if I remember correctly the design of the apex seals limits the boost.

  • that's a very valid argument, completely true. i guess we'll just have to wait untill we have the technology and money to develope a better sealing mechanism or system

  • yeah your defintally right from what i've heard the rx-8's stock can only handle about 12-13 psi on the OEM seals. I think, not sure, but graphite seals are the way to go can handle a lot more boost??

  • i wish that were true...sigh i so badly wish..i blue my apex seals ,took car to Mazda and they fixed for me. i had it set at 10psi but Mazda told me it only holds 5.6psi max 7.5, so pretty much 6 or 8 psi tops...and when they where done fixing after 2 days those bastards wanted to sell me a 3rd gen motor like on rx7 which could withstand boost..but that was after charging me 975.95 on repairs,, but it was my fault for adding turbo and ruining warranty

  • but if you run upgraded Apex seals and coroner seals with a harder corner seal spring you wont have any issues.

  • it doesn't look that hard to put a rotary together nor does it take much time. If you ask me, i understand how a rotary works better than i know how a piston engine works.

  • Its Not hard. . its just the smog and emissions stuff and the wiring that you have to put back on it lol

  • put it in a light miata and beat turbo vipers

  • @carmodifire or put it in a Fd3s RX7 with a turbo and beat them

  • @carmodifire

you'll never catch traction, so turbo vipers would still win.

power to weight is not infinite.... it is very finite and a very thin line

  • @carmodifire why wouldnt it be in a SA rx-7?

  • @ferociousLamm old school suspension geometry= worse handling.

  • @carmodifire not like you couldn't upgrade... I upgraded my FD suspension and its great, better then the already great suspension in it...

  • @Tj1056 Yes, but those old cars, you can't change the fundamental basics, really. The FD isn't old in terms of how well it competes with today's cars (Evo, 370z) but the SA rx7 is old.

  • @carmodifire yes but you can put same brand suspension as on my car and work just as good... yes the chassis does help in handling but the first gen is still not that bad... not like a geo metro or something...

  • so simple, so much power.

  • rotaries are so devilishly simple. awesome stuff.

  • The peripheral port on a 3 rotor is amazing!

  • yea we hav 1 and its pumpin out slightly over 400bhp, but wer maybe gonna change the exhaust system to 3 inch the whole way to bring it up.

but for now its quick enough so we can get the hang of it lol

  • I reall want one but I don't have the right plan for it, as far as when to start and how I want it to get installed into my rx8.

  • 20B RX8's are the Fucken shitt.

  • Lets see a piston engine do that.

  • just need one more rotar, lol

  • so all i need to do is buy the parts :P

  • Only 500 HP, Is it NA?

  • 350KW (500hp) is about the norm for a 20B-PP engine if kept in "atmo" form. Little chance this engine could be used on a turbo, the intake & exhaust ports are too close. Way too much overlap if forced induction was used.

FYI, a top spec 20B-PP turbo can do 1000KW (1400hp) under the right conditions

  • well dude, if you realise, the distance betweem intake and exhaust in a normal 4 valve DOHC is also short, yet, it can be used with up to 30 psi of boost. which is a lot i know, but dont wankles have valves too? you can control the overlap with correct timing

  • no wait! im such an asshole! wankels dont have valves! they don't need any, the isn't any overlap because the fluid has to travel around the whole combustion cycle to get to the exhaust port. so yeah you can run these on turbo boost.

  • rotary motors are valveless, they work similar to a two-stroke. hence the insane 10,000rpm burnouts

  • wow can i get one of these and for how much would it fit into my rx8 ?

  • 1. they run about 5 grand

    2. good luck finding one .

  • 1. Try 2600 shipped to his door.

    2. Almost ever major engine importer is going to carry rotaries. And if they carry rotaries, their going to have the 20b.

  • Yeah. I would prefer the 13B-REW, but finding that engine isnt gonna be easy!

  • g14novak is right. my bud just picked up a 20b from japan star motors in albany for 2800. They aren't that hard to find.

  • AWESOME!

  • David Haskell is THE MAN! Sweet vid.

  • Mmmm peripheral port 20B :P nice video 5/5!

  • Will it fit into a Miata.. Monster Miata V8 say goodbye! (wish i had a miata and this 500 hp beast! ) lol

  • I WANT ONE!

  • And about another minute until the seals go :P

    I kid, I kid!
