do u remeber when tiger stadium caught fire? ya... i grew up with the boys of summer since oooo about 68... i live in colorado now but i still follow every tiger game.. long live ernie. i went to a game when i was about 10.. mickey lolich pitched against the rangers..ya those were the days. it was just the voice of ernie that made the day.thank you vinjom.. u brought tears to my eyes...i still remember george kell and larry osterman too! tigers will always rock
I cried when they tore the old girl down. It was a place that when I rode past it on 75 it made the hair on my neck stand up. Comerica doesn't do this. Ernie made it far more special by calling the games on WJR. Now that he has cancer that isn't curable it's all the more sadder. Sports history is becoming just that history. I miss the stadium and I'm going to miss the voice of MR. TIGER Ernie Harwell.
Why tear down the old ballpark on the Corner when there's burned down buildings and other eye sores that should be cleaned up. At least the Corner is a historic landmark that our city can be proud of. Babe Ruth played on that fuckin field!
Dam, I really thought that some how or another Tiger stadium would have been saved I'm a baseball fan I could not watch the rest of this video, and like gussie8933 "said It's a shame that history doesn't mean a damn thing to anyone!" If we dont preserve our past and respect it and just let be torn down we will have really nothing to look back on.
Whoever is responsible of making the decision to have this historic place demolished needs to be prosecuted. It's a shame that history doesn't mean a damn thing to anyone! All they care about is the all mighty dollar!
Where can I get an old radio broadcast?

Tigers stadium was a very nice park, but it wasn't a palace like Old Comiskey was.

I love this. But there's something heartbreaking about it. Agree with the other poster, and I'm a native Californian. But a baseball fan....
Nice post.
