  • Nice video!

  • i have studied the brain during my college year in a hard way..reading big thick books. Now with this innovative technology of computer studying is a lot easier..i love the way the speaker explain.

  • not to be nit picky...and i'm sure someone else has said it but lesbians exist and so do male anorexics. i'm being an ass. sorry

  • Good info. but get rid of the nasty shit.

  • what do you mean by "male or female or homosexual"? are people who are homosexual no longer male or female? wouldn't it make better sense to say heterosexual and homosexual? homosexual people are male or female. this is absolutely foolish (and i think you know it).

  • Thanks you really helped me understand some issues that I have been going through regarding PTSD....I just learned that I am a Fearful Avoidant which relates to Attachment in Relationships.....I was in class and we were learning about the different attachment styles.....I watched some videos and many childhood experiences began to awaken.....and I have been crying uncontrollably....I will be seeking profess help......however I have been wondering how these experiences affect the brain. Thanks!

  • Really good lecture with images that triggered the right parts of brain, and kept me interested, but I have some doubts:

How can you say the SCN makes women more "prone" to Post-partum depression than men, when "partum" means "giving birth", and men cant give birth?

Its like saying men are more prone to "post-erectional depression" than women, because of our SCN, or women are more prone to post-menopausal depression than men, because of their SCN...

Could you please explain this to me?

  • It’s impossible for a company to get what it wants most if managers have to make a choice between their own values and company priorities. slap Company

  • doesnt it mean something that he got a tumour in that area of his brain though?

  • Too random of a presentation, not organized. Too many flashing images without any reference to them. Unnecessary repetitions too.

  • Dr. Joseph, NE with fight or flight, what about freezing?

  • 28:18

  • @FadeTM Thank you for the heads up. I did the google and discovered the bizarre Mr. Hyde of Rhawn Joseph. I believe the common idea that women's menstrual cycle become synced has been debunked like the full moon effect has been debunked. (I could be wrong, It was only one study.)

Darn! I thought I had found an easy to understand package of reliable information. Has anyone found any major factual errors in these videos?

  • @imslashjr Just take it as it is, one man's opinion on the inner workings of the human mind. That's really all we have at the moment, a bunch of opinions...

  • Careful, the lecturer in this video is Rhawn Joseph. Run a search for him before you take him seriously.

  • thanks this is alot of help and I should buy this thanks

  • 27:42 .. wtf lol

  • This is great . The sexy editing seems to aid memory. thanks!

  • Hi how are you Sarastarlight, I love your Channel, it's very educational and I do enjoy you videos that you posted "Great"

I want to ask, do you have the first video to your "Brain Mind Lecture 2" I had your videos for a long time and I just noticed I was missing the very first video to your set that go up to "Brain Mind Lecture 6"

if you man, that be so great, one again I your Channel and most of your videos here, Thank you so much

    "Kurt"

  • @jama463, @j3n0vA444 come on, it's fornicating

  • :14 thumbs up for elephant fucking!! XD im stoned!

  • interesting

on a side note, i find it interesting that youtube didnt delete this...they seem to be very strict on regulation for nudity and stupid shit like that

there was significant nudity here in the pictures...

    this was pretty interesting though

  • lol, at 20:20.

  • Best Video Ever...

    Thanks...

  • "females are more prone to postpartum depression." hmm...

  • @SteveUllom Lol

  • the animal baning that big ass was not fit for this video like wtf

  • this a very well explained. Where is part one? I cannot find it anywhere on youtube.

  • This same information is what we use to treat sexual addiction issues. Unfortunately, a lot of the visuals that you use would trigger the addictive behaviors.

  • love all these lectures way to go Joseph!!!!!!!! keep them coming

  • PTSD is an altered physiological state of existence that anyone/everyone can be put into. It is created to protect us, so why is it so stigmatized and difficult for doctors to treat? THe comorbidities are endless, but there are benefits to having your Amygdala as the new 'Crown' or chief of your mind. You do get extra-testosterone, extra-adrenaline, and are much quicker. THe benefits must be accepted and the frazzled visuals and uneasy feelings will dissipate with time.

    Takes time 4mind 2reboot

  • Reboot the brain the fastest way: Watch the Youtube video "PTSD and Meditation".

David George, Infantryman, US Army 101st Airborne Division, (combat missions, looking for WMD in Iraq) after suffering from post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) for over five years, learned Transcendental Meditation and is doing great.

  • I hate animal sexual visuals--yuck! Could make a point about sex without going there? 4 F's the last one stood for something else___. lol.

  • there is a fourth F :p the lecturer just goes around it :D

  • Great stuff! I've studied the Amygdala for years and this is the most in-depth break-down of this subject. Great work! Thanks.

  • All 6 Brain Mind Lectures can be purchased from the BrainMind website and from Amazon.

This is a 6 hour, 3 DVD Set

  • Women have emotions of evil

  • It seems that when you say "homosexual" you are only referring to male homosexuals. Not all homosexuals are males though. Lesbians are homosexuals too. So if it's a lesbian we're talking about, does she have the large connector-thingy between both the left and right amygdalas or is it more like a males? By the way you lump both genders together, by saying "homosexual," you're making it sound like they would.

  • Comment removed

  • Holy mother of Cher! I always knew that there's a third sex ! this guy just said it... "male, female or homosexual"

    I loved this video

  • any part of your brain you dont use, atrophes just just any muscle... hence the reason you see old ppl doing crosswords.

  • What a joke you have stated and a complete falsehood too. I see all ages doing crossword puzzles. You are just describing a stereotype applied to old people. You mean to tell me you never did cross word puzzles when you were young? (hence the reason you see old ppl doing crosswords.) LOL What a pile of crap you just put forth.

  • is this guy suggesting that homosexuals have a different brain like betweeen 28:46 and 30:00?? nice sir... so there´s a third sex.. good lecturer...

  • Thank you Dr. Joseph for the extremely interesting presentation/lecture. As a psychotherapist of over twenty years experience I found the information in your lecture extremely useful, interesting, and stimulating. Thanks.

  • HAHA the 4th F

  • Notice from 0:23.

The four F's? He says feeding, fighting, fleeing and sex. That's three F's and one S.

    Unless... Oh! Cheeky bastards! :D

  • lmao

  • @jama463 the fourth F is another word for sex

  • Wow so PTSS makes you stupid. HAHAHAHAHA

  • man elephants sure have a gnarly limbic system

  • this is a good lecture. but the pictures you edited in are totally annoying.

  • So there is no lesbian brain, or is this homo too?

  • its homo too

  • I think they're nuts. There are just two brains.

  • The fact they can't explain why some brain seem different then another like with a 'homosexual' type of brain, doesn't mean it's a different type of brain.

  • you think? based on any research or experimenting of your own I assume?

  • whatever, this is so absurd that i won't take time to explain even a little. Half of it might be true, the other half is ready for the bucket.

  • same thing, but with ladies, simple enough ¬¬

  • hey i am male and i see all the body language and social keys and i lika da ladies so whatcha got to say to that?

  • Thankyou Neurobiology! :)

  • 0258585 you are an idiot science is composed of facts and theories about our world based on evidence. So whats behind all the "words and long speeches" is truth.

  • I'm not going to open a debate on this. One thing you should learn: you don't have the right to prejudge me or others. You can give opinion to someone on what do you feel about him in case you are asked by the person itself, but calling someone an idiot is a direct offense...

  • But it seems like we can't see the truth because it determines us right now and always.

  • Scientists have their own conceits and mindgames, as we all do. The question is: what is behind the words and the long speeches? What's the purpose? There had been thick and huge books written before and after they had been refuted. The ones which criticized the latters have been also disproven and this goes on almost like infinitely. We talk about "science" and knowledge and "truth" in a way we feel standing above it.

  • That should of been the end of it, well put

  • Wait wait.... The FOUR F's....??? Fighting Feeding Fleeing and Sexual Behavior....??? (ehhh)

  • *cough... fucking....*cough

  • I lol'd

  • this guy is REALLY interesting. makes me want to go to college. (18, male)

  • Reality is relative. It depends on whose point of view it is. The other dimensional beings defined by a certain frequency may look at their events real as we look at it surreal. As far I know the world, this world is real in a sense that we are controlled by its physics. The moment we step out its boundary through dreams, space travel.... we enter a new reality governed by its own physics.

  • You don't know anything about reality or psychedelics

What you perceive through your body is NOT real.

Entheogens free consciousness from the body-mind vessel, or the 5-sense illusory world, allowing you to experience reality how it really is

  • In psychology, there's a term called projection, which is where one recognises a flaw in another, which one has percieved the mechanism of in oneself. "it takes one to know one", in basic form.

Entheogens simply soup up your metabolism dude. You've got just the same brain as before. Simple.

If you want I flame you, I flame you further, otherwise, let's leave the trancendental bizness and the connection to truth well alone.

Our sensations: an analogue of the world. Lossy, interpreted.

  • that's just your opinion man

    Entheogenes r the way

  • don't get me wrong, I love getting high LOL

  • lol, getting high has a very specific purpose, Shamans from every ancient culture knew how to use psychedelics to bring important information to the community an thus aid their evolution process, so they don't have to live in the world, this world of shadows, a mirror, of REAL world. Yeah, this material world exists, is real in one sense, just as dreams are real, life is a dream, both real and illusion, neither real nor fake.

  • now that I can wholeheartedly agree with. I find that experimenting with different states of mind really does make you realise how convincing subjective interpretations are, but yet they can vary so.

  • ive heard of that before. almost like ur alive, but ur dead

  • Your brain might appear to remain the same as it was previously. But Entheogens expand consciousness. They can create experiences that could change forever your perception of the real. Nothing will ever be the same. So on a very microscopic level, in a neurological level, changes are happenning within the brain. Psylocibe (magic mushrooms) has proved effective to treat certain psychological disorders such us mild depression and bipolarity.

  • I'm doing research on psilocybin. Do you have sources for your claims about psilocybin and depression?

  • Hey i didn't know your into Psychology as well. Glad your here as well.

  • lol, I guess I'm into a little bit of everything. Glad u r here as well ;)

"Know something about everything. Know everything about something" ~ anonymous? :P

  • quite right with PCP and also ketamine. These are dissociative drugs, and effectively lock you out of your connection to the world, so you go into a dreamlike state.

  • quantum physics explains this universe as both real and illusion.

Electrons seem to appear and disappear, coming in and out of existence. So this universe exists for a fraction of second, and for a fraction of a second it doesn't. It's wave and particle at the same time, when we look at it, it seems solid and 'real', but it's only a frequency

  • Knowledge without wisdom is a load of books on the back an ass. Japanese Proverb

  • the 4 F...Feeding,fighting,fleeing..and fucking :)) not sexual behaviour if it's with F anyway i like youre vids

  • That's exactly how they write it in the textbooks.4 F, feeding fighting fleeing, but they never say the last F.

  • "Horrible Truth About Psychiatric Drugs"

What a bunch of gross oversimplifications.

This article is just as irresponsible and ignorant as the shrinks who have so much faith in psychopharm.

Here's an inescapable fact: Everyone is different! No drug affects all people in the same: NO DRUG. For example, some people are allergic to certain antibiotics, and some people can smoke and drink every day of their lives and never get liver disease or lung cancer.

  • Some gross over simplifications in this video. For example, while it is true that there are such things as "male" vs "female" brains, not all males have "male" brains, and not all females have "female" brains, and no, males with "female" brains and females with "male" brains are not necessarily homosexuals.

On a related matter, the explanation of homosexuality given in the video auspiciously leaves out any sort of an account for homosexuality among females.

  • Please go to Yahoo and type in the phrase "Horrible Truth About Psychiatric Drugs" to see a shocking research paper revealing the truth. Be sure to include the quotes. Also do the search with the phrase in Yahoo "Documented Proof Psychiatric Drugs Shorten Lifespan". Be sure to include the quote marks. You will learn things the psychiatrists will not tell you.....

  • Thanks for the great lecture, including extremely helpful photos and diagrams.

I could have done without the repetitive gory/scary images, though. The horrors of battle can be visualized and registered without subjecting all of our limbic systems to the very worst sites available from battlefields.

  • Well ... I've watched all the 6 lectures and in about 6 hours I'm going to take a Neuro exam that I have failed this winter. Took about 12 pages of notes and the 4 hours and 30 minutes of lecture... because of pausing and rewinding and note taking got up to 21 hours. Will I pass the exam? We will see...

  • hello, did you pass, best regards.

  • I DID PASS!!!!!!!!!!!

Got my self a B+ ... but considering that last time I faild the exam now I am very happy.

Great videos this was.... help me it did ;)

  • throw the tv out the window..cancel cable..quit being a mind control zombie..haven't you seen the video on subliminal messages? the council on foreign relations controls the media..monitor your children too..they're television programming agenda is violent to create little soldiers

  • Some people suffer from

    a) severe money addiction (s. '54 dopamine studies J. Olds & P. Milner), because money is the single most effective dopamine trigger; better than any upper or sex.

    b) from their society tolerated - even honored (sic!) - antisocial personality disorder (ICD-10), which destroys reciprocal altruism, the root of every sane community.

They're a threat to community! This is not funny, nor an insult! This is a definite spritual/psychiatric condition, which has to be treated!

  • shared

  • great videos man

  • LOL at the four F's. I think we all know what the last one really was.

  • OMG!!!!

  • Very interesting. My roommate eats 6 normal-size meals per day and says that he's always hungry. He eats until he has to run to the toilet - LOL! Surprisingly, he isn't fat.

  • You said much on how our brains effect our behaviour, but I think your underestimating how much our enviorments effect our behaviour and sexuality. All of which can become perverted under the right circumstances.

  • Very good lecture video on limbic system. Encompass many aspects of knowledge. It's a good idea if you can even extend this into another important part of function of limbic system except for emotion -- memory. For neuroscientist, the hippocampus might be an even more intriguing area.

  • The video constitutes one of six Brain Mind Introductory Lectures, posted on youtube, each providing an introductory overview of the functional organization of the brain. To reduce confusion, all CT images have been reversed so damage on the left appears on the left, and right sided damage appear on the right. For a detailed presentation I recommend one of the best neuroscience texts of all time: the 2nd edition of Neuropsychiatry, Neuropsychology, Clinical Neuroscience, by Rhawn Joseph, Ph.D.

  • this is so detail thnk you i was having a little truble learning this the brain is so fasinating to me the Limbic System is so powerfull the cell's react so fast the it could go across a footbal feild in 1 sec that's a in study's i have found ohh and sorry for the bad speeling I'm only 14 give me a little break here but any way's you have helped me so much thank you 5 star's

  • Now I know why some people are so emotional and their reactions are so excessive, they have big amygdalas!

  • lol

  • lol

  • amygdala - look and identify.

  • AC Ganer are you serious? F U C K I N G = sexual behavior LOL, I really hope you are kidding

  • how many other species have these parts of the brain? how far back in human ancestry do these parts of the brain appear?

  • you should check out maclean's 'triune brain' theory of evolution and resulting emotional capacities

  • any1 actually watch all of this

  • me lol

  • Lol 4 Fs? That's about as usful as the 3 Rs, reading writing and arithmetic...

  • There mere fact that stimulating various nuclei in the amygdala does not mean that the amygdala is the "executive" when it comes to emotional responses. It, in fact, does not work that way.

  • GAY

  • great video thank you

  • What the hell? I only watched the firt few minutes (my attentions span isnt long enough to watch a youtube vid for an hou), but in the beginning he says "...what scientists call the four F's. Feeding, fighting, fleeing, and sexual behavior".....sexual behavior doesnt even have an f in it!

  • lol. Use your imagination!

  • Hey ho!

I've got PTSD and after 20 years of it my brain is really starting to feel it

I think this man does really good lectures

Shame I can't remember things very well

I've been to heaven though so thats cool

    God Bless

    Om....................

  • Why does it seem so irrelevant? Did you managed to be interested enough to watch the entire video?

What else do you think controls simple to very complex emotions?

  • Yeah I know...Like last week, a religious guy at work told me " God made UFO's for the same reason he made dinosaur bones. To test our faith" UM...OK

  • there is a huge misconception of what G.O.D. actually might be or look like. The term "god" has been misused and manipulated for thousands of years, and the concept we get today is a very distorted image of what god really is or looks like. Many people assume god is some kind of male entity: they call god: he, him, lord, etc... because whoever translated the original Hebrew manuscripts wrote "Father...", instead of: "Birther of the Cosmos.." and so on.

  • This just goes to show that when people are praying to god they are using the very SAME part of the brain as when they are pretending.

Let's let the religious community know this, they need to hear it.

  • You make a good point gblue. I still don't think it will change the way they think. If you want to make something real and true the human mind will block and isolate anything that opposes that feeling. I try not to explain to religious folks that its all in their imagination. They say God is real because it says so in the bible. That is why they are tought religion at a young age.

  • Well, It certainly begs the question for learning and educating our young regarding brain functions. A informed choice is BEST when deciding whether "god" is real or not, especially at such a young age.

  • If God is in my brain. Why does it take so much effort to understand him?

  • Trying to understand god with the brain alone, or just with the intellect is not possible. It's like trying to understand what Love is by reading a definition in the Oxford Dictionary. God is Infinite Love, Infinite Consciousness as I call it, and that's what we all are: a unique expression of that infinite love within the space-time. Love can't be understood simply by reading about it, it's something that needs to be experienced, embodied, and thus we can begin to see what Love is really about

  • how does one experiece GOD?

  • lsd

  • Some say you can experience GOD with the pineal gland, or what some call your third eye. Which recent studies say secrets D.M.T. during R.E.M. sleep. This is the time that your mind is most active while sleeping. Many people explain out of body or religious experiences while using DMT including ancient civilizations in central America. Some describing unimaginably geometric shapes and patterns flowing all around you. Fear Factor guy Joe Rogan's Video on DMT was my first eye opener to this drug.

  • what the hell man, INFINITE LOVE? As you can hear int his video, love is something created by a electrochemical process in the limbic system.. in how the hell you find love not connected to brains..

  • Agreed. On all comments.

    LOVE SISTREN OR BRETHREN

  • ahhHA see, there is no soul. everything happens in the Limbic System!

  • And you are oh-so sure to say that, aren't you :)

  • Na, just what i was thinking at the time. Nothing is sure!!

  • this may have been good but i turned it off as soon as you started with the subliminal images

  • It's too late. It only takes a few seconds. The sublimial images have already been inserted into your brain. Within minutes they begin to hatch... the first symptoms are headaches and odd feelings in your stomach...you will become hungry, thirsty, and this is because the subliminal eggs have hatched and they hunger and thirst.

    You are doomed. DOOMED, D O O M E D!!! ahhhahhhahhha...

  • lol, not quite

when we see a subliminal image it is too fast for our concious mind to process but the subconcious mind keeps a copy of it. there great if you want to pursuade someone to believe in a certain topic. coca-cola use to use subliminal images as advertising during films but that got banned long ago.

but anyways, as soon as i see any subliminal image in any form of media i turn it off, i can do without the brainwashing

  • I don't know...I'm getting pretty thirsty j/k :)

  • I guess it's a good thing I'm just listening to this at work - all the info - none of the brainwashing... Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go buy some coca-cola.

  • Where were you guys when I was being bored to tears in Physiology of Psych thirty years ago? This is an excellent presentation. Thanks for posting it.

  • excellent

  • Thanks for posting!

  • FUCK the limbic system. and FUCK elephants. god how'd i'd like to fuck elephants

  • I love this one...thanks so much

  • Great video. Thanks for posting it.

  • a free class =)

  • Apesar de ser estudante apaixonado de medicina, não creio em pensamentos deterministas como esse sob o âmbito de predestinação de homossexualidade ou sistematização de pensamentos. ¬¬'

  • Amazing. Truly Amazing. Bravo Mate!

  • this is so good, i learned a lot, and im amazed.

  • highly informative lectures, thanks for posting

  • He says "even homosexual," but there are two kinds of homosexuals. Does he mean male homosexuals or female homosexuals or both?

  • But women are worse at understanding visual relationships; personally I have enough of emotion as it is.

  • some of this is kinda hot

  • roflol dont understand nun of it, but made me crack up non the less.

  • ever heard of amygdala clicking?

  • What do you mean by clicking? I think there is another reason women have post partem depression and men don't---men don't have babies. I love these lectures but he makes a few slip ups.

  • To Meta: please dont put post partem depression in this. You have Youtube sights of your own. This is about ptsd!

  • Yeah come on youre talking about post partum This is for PTSD. Go some where else
