  • would this be better in the loop or infront of the amp?

  • I wonder whether this could be set for regular live guitar playing or whether it is more for over dubbing effects in the studio

  • @ynyslochtyn

i`ve seen a guy play with one of these live, and the thing did a great job serving him

  • It seems to me that EHX and MXR sound the best.

  • Yeah Buddy! Nothing sonds like this!! I Love It!!!!!

  • Is the distortion type sound in the beginning from the square wave?

  • at 5:48 I was afraid it was turning into a GearWire video lol. Of course, this had a better tone than the GW intro theme.

  • chameleon!!!

  • @TheMetalkey Played wrong....

  • Could you guys do something about the 240p? Thanks.

  • it starts getting good at @ 3:33!

  • first track herbie hancock! :D

  • @gelsemium15ch Chameleon

  • SWEEEEET DREAMS ARE MADE OF THESE!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hahaha what a useless piece of garbage!

  • Question...I have been searching for a synth pedal that will give me a super heavy "dubstep" style sound. Is this thing a good choice? didnt really hear anything in the demo that was what i was looking for.

  • @ezekeil33 If you like dubstep, why do you even play guitar?

Regardless, I recommend a good fuzz pedal. Try the zvex fuzz factory.

  • @slushpup9696 A person can't like both?

  • @ezekeil33 get a keyboard like a microKorg

  • @thealmightycommenter

No. I had a microkorg and sold it in 2 weeks because it was horrible.

  • MAWR TOM SAWYER!

  • can you make it sound like the wah buckethead uses or does he use this instead of a wah ?

  • band of gypsies "who knows" nice.

  • bahaha synthed "Stir It Up"... nice

  • whats that intro song? picking up a vintage one on ebay and want to know some good tunes to play on it. sound like chameleon by Herbie off of headhunters.

  • why, on every single pedal review, do at least 2 or 3 people say "can I sound like this band with it" or "can I get that one tone from that one song with it?" ... thats one of the biggest problem with most of today's mainstream music, they all try to sound like each other and/or great bands from the past. Frick man, I don't care what other bands I can get this to sound like I just care about the fact that it is quite an amazing sounding and versatile pedal, who wants to stick to covers anyways?

  • Can I get a cool sound like the beginning of Zeppelin's "Trampled Under Foot" with this pedal? :D

  • the rush part gave you 50 extra points

  • It sounds like guitar riffs played backwards

  • sounds like its playing backwards, rewind lol

  • Is there a preset pedal for this?, like the one for the hog. would be a lot cooler if it did

  • RUSH!!!

  • This pedal would be amazing with 9 or so programmable memory banks or presets.

  • @Shaharazad221 Unfortunately that's not really plausible considering this is, to my knowledge, a completely analog pedal.

  • P-R-E-S-E-T-S !

  • super duper!

  • would this be able to kind of copy like an organ with this pedal?? if not could you give me an idea of a pedal that might be able get kind of close sound to that?? sorry for poor english

  • @sblopez08 Go for the POG2 or microPog by EHX

  • i would so much love a glide control for my micro synth

  • Wait... Jimi hendrix through a synth?... What???

  • I think is what Buckethead would use

  • is there any difference with the other micro synth pedal for guitar of electro harmonix or are they just the same?

  • Is there any difference on the other microsynth of electro harmonix or are they the same?

  • best video review ever for the micro synth

  • Marlyn Manson Rocks

  • @natnat5577 Agreed. Funny enough Manson did a cover of BOTH Down in the Park and Sweet Dreams. This guy might have been listening to Manson covers before doing this review!

  • Herbie Hancock ftw!

  • can you play 12:51 by the strokes with this?

  • How much does this pedal usually run for?

  • Can this be used to simulate a sitar sound?

  • can i use it for bass or can i use the bass microsynth with guitar and get good sounds out of it?

i'm askin because i'm to broke to buy both of them...

  • Is there any difference bewtween this pedal and the bigger original version apart from size? Different components maybe? The original pisses me off every time i think about putting it in my pedal case.

  • Someone has been listening the Average White Band.

  • I wish EHX got john frusciante to demo all their pedals

  • @kfras0200 me too :'( That would be too awesome but I don't think he feels like doing something with as much publicity as thatr :'(

  • @kfras0200 he would just fumble with all his wording

  • I really like the demos of guitar shop com, best reviews on the internet

    ..

  • @kfras0200 So right!

  • the first song was chameleon from herbie hancock

  • @windmilldwellers i think you mean tom sawyer from rush

  • who knows :D

  • you're always playing some good stuff

  • I get a bit tired of all of the stroking some people do with Andy here, but I have to admit that going from Rush to Marley to Manson did indeed give me a smile. Good reviews though, seriously.

  • @managainstcatfish With all that talk of covers in PGS's comments you could argue it's Eurythmics not Manson :P But let's not be picky

  • From where's the first riff?

  • TOM SAWYER? SWEET DREAMS?! Dude, best reviews ever.

  • Tom Sawyer!!!

  • 3:00 Pick up the pieces by average white band?

  • which do we prefer, Micro Synth or Pog?

  • Are the Octaves monophonic on this and/or the Bass Synth? I think I heard them glitching when Andy played chords

  • whats the difference between the "microsynth" and the bigger "microsynthesizer"? which one is better?

  • Chameleon!

  • Hi, i was wondering if anyone is able to tell me what the slider at the far left is? Does it adjust the synthesiser sound? Thanks.

  • lol herbie hancock

  • stir it up ♪

  • this is awesome!

  • 5:50 We're ALL Devo !!

  • I love the new size BUT WHY DIDN'T YOU MAKE PRESETS.... I have this pedal, but it would be a million times more useful with the ability to have presets.

  • @mikeoxlong11 i prefer it this way, i dont like all that kind of functions, i prefer to keep it old school :)

  • Lovin that rush in there man, that was sweet.

  • Hi! How does it sound with chords =o?

  • beginning almost sounded like chameleon by herbie hancock

  • @AFNYOAQIS I think that's what he was playing

  • @AFNYOAQIS it was but i dont think he is allowed to play actual songs so he has to change them a bit, its because of copyright, i hate copyright sometimes

  • @AFNYOAQIS That's what I thought at first too

  • Would've been fucking epic if he did "Cars". It's annoying I can't find anywhere to test it out. I guess I'll have to keep looking.

  • that intro is called chameleon? i played it for my jazz band at school

  • Looks awesome. Love the Gary Numan cover, too :)

  • dont you just loooove these product demos. i play for a christian church so this is as close as im going to get to using them damn it

  • @coatlecue if you play for a church then you shouldnt be swearing...

  • agreed you guys pick some sweet riffs.

  • OMg you guys play the best music for the demos I swear.

  • haha 5:16 bob marley stir it up. love it!

  • Rush, HELL YEAH!!!

  • I love this pedal. I bought one 2 years ago and it's one of my favorites. It's so versatile and has a huge range of sounds. It's really an instrument in itself and I can see that it may take years to master. I am constantly finding new applications for it within my music.

  • 0:25 whats that song again? limelight by yyz ? thanks mate

  • @jimzer Tom Sawyer by Rush

  • I think the last song sounds like Down in the Park by Foo Fighters.

  • @ThePaulT23 - I think you mean "Down in the Park" by Gary Numan.

  • Yes, but the Foo's did a more recent cover version. Not everyone's over 40 and will remember the original!

  • @xsallareas - We're well under 40, we just listen to a lot of music from all eras and styles. With the magic of the internet pretty much every piece of music ever recorded is readily available for the curious listener, so there's really no excuse. Know your music history, kids. Get some culture!

    -PGS Video Crew

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos Meant to say.......Gary Numan went by the alias of Valarian in Tubeway Army. And I went to school with Mr Webb too...........do I win a pedal?

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos this shall be my life's motto.

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos - pretty much every piece of music ever recorded? you know how hard it is to find Suicide's songs on the internet? or Mathematiques Modernes? you probably haven't heard either of those bands...but keep schooling children about what THEY don't know, because it's silly!

  • @asyntheticsound Just found mathematiques modernes in about 5 seconds with spotify. And then suicide.

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos

Gary Numan will never be acknowledged for anything other than Cars..... I fucking hate humanity. Telekon is such a fucking beautiful album..... Thank you for putting the dumb in their place.

  • @xsallareas Dude, I'm 17 and Gary Numan is so much better than Foo Fighters :P

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos

I think you mean "Down in the Park"

    by Tubeway Army.......do I win a pedal?

  • @hreth1 - Gary Numan wrote it for his band Tubeway Army, so you don't win a pedal, but you do win our respect. Well done!

    -PGS Crew

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos

Even better. Keep up the good work guys. And much continued success with the company.

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos: I remember my best friend in college and the shock on his face when I revealed to him that Aerosmith didn't write "Come Together."

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos favourite Youtube exchange in a while

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos is this monophonic or polyphonic??

  • @hreth1 bahaha

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos i think you mean sweet dreams, eurithmycs

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos The Foo Fighters coverd it

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos i listen to down in park and i like it. never heard it about

  • 3:34 sounds like a Superfuzz on valium.

  • the house jack built

  • ooh, pick up the pieces!

  • sounds like im watching fkin the warriors

  • at the beginning he plays chameleon by Herbie Hancock ;)

  • Is there any way to control the dry signal? Like have have your dry signal be dominant while while have a swell come up behind it?

  • i think the guitarist from Clutch uses this in "Struck Down" and in the Bakerton group as well (Last orbit?).

  • can this get a square lead sound the way The Strokes use in 12:51? I'm really looking to mimic that sound without using a keyboard.

  • Is this considered a modulation pedal?

  • im liking this because it was a good demo, but mainly because you played tom sawyer.

  • Comment removed

  • and here a lot of synthezer users wish they could sound like guitar.

    oh well

  • i would kill for an LFO mod on this magic box...

  • @mynmyself please explain the lfo mod

  • @mynmyself I think he means adding an additional low frequency oscillator as a modulation source for the filter. BTW if you put this pedal in front of a rotary emulator or add alittle bit of flanger or chorus effect, you get some pretty cool sounds out of it.

It also works well with a moderate univibe.

  • pick up the pieces! cool

  • what's with the high pitched oscillation that follows the playing? nice hendrix at 3:45 by the way

  • fast solos with pronounced synth effect would sound like a videogame wouldn't it? :O

  • @Razwithz Any heavy fuzz will square off the waveform and give you more of a "video game sound". But if you really want that 8bit sound, try "8bit fuzz" pedal from FX Doctor.

  • ehx makes some of the coolest pedals

  • 4:41 - DOWN IN THE PARK

  • Damn! Herbie Hancock! I need one!

  • I Love that pedal? But...how much will it cost?

  • Around £150

  • it's $279 but since you're already on the internet I'm sure you could look it up.

  • @morganchavis Amen brother, if you're on YouTube, you can access Google.

  • @Ercarnar $277

  • average white band, you legend.

  • Great

  • groovie little hippie pad- ZZ top.

  • Dude! Gary Numan! Yes!

  • could I get Jump by VH with this?

  • bob marley stir it up

  • haha sweet dreams!! x] gotta love it

  • cool tom sawyer

  • andy sounds sad in this review :(

  • He shouldn't though. Its a very informative review with good guitar playing. I do however wish they'd explored to what extent you can trick this out as a ring modulator. I'm still very tempted to buy it as it in no way gives up the funk.

  • All these filter matrix boxes are MONOPHONIC! Just was some yuts doing chords on a MOOG, glitch city. Anyone who does not know polyphonic from monophonic really should not be using boxes. The POG and HOG are different technology than this, this is really an old box I had back in the late 70s, cool actually, you can get some great fusion tones. Much more musical than the was too expensive Moog units. And seriously, the guy could not pronouce, MOO-G who does not know that?

  • not for nothing but bob moog said himself in a documentary film that it was pronounced moo-g, mogue and moch. bob moog pronounced it himself as mogue. aparently not as many musicians as you think know how to pronounce it porperly. search on here for 'Moog on Moog.mp4' he also claimed he didnt really care how people pronounced it and that both are correct moo-g and mouge.

  • What would you use to simulate strings , even in chording

  • @gravano2

A volume pedal to blend in the chords and this or a Micro POG. Plus a delay perhaps.

  • is this thing ps3 compatible?

  • Comment removed

  • ur call to see i like this personally but the hog has some cool effects to

  • i really don't know, but i'm sure i'm going for the hog.

  • RUSH!

  • 2:17 that's cool

  • No you can't: it's monophonic, so if you play more strings at the same time, it distorts or rumbles. I have one and it is an AMAZING thing!

  • 6:15....

    sweet dream =)

  • hahaha i caught that too

  • Bof bof, 250 euros pour avoir des effets pas si terrible que cela :/

  • i don't think it has an octave generator that could copy an organ sound, but the POG and POG 2 can do it, and do it well

  • how i get a armonica wind instrument sound????

  • haha tom sawyer

  • you can emulate a bass guitar but it is not a bass guitar

  • so ween

  • I've seen the real hammond sound gotten out of the POG2 and the HOG... you should be able to get it out from this, too, but maybe it's trickier, because this lacks the resonance function of the POG 2, which helps get that sound. The basic idea of mixing octaves is there, though... and once you get the clean organ tone, a real Hammond is just the right fuzzbox away ;)

  • you do get the resonance function but the organ sound is far from obtainable cos of the pedals monophonic nature. the pedal is mega though. some really funny 8-bit 'supermario-esque' sounds can be made! some proper nice squelchy/quacky ducky tones too! mental!

when you run more than one note through the pedal it tends to bubble and squelch intermitantly! anyway, i got off the point...organ is a no-no really. amazing pedal though.

  • Arretado esse pedal quero hum pode mandar

  • I bought it just 2 hours ago, 254euro, just one word for description: AMAZING. If you want some real electric, noisy and eccessive distortion, he's the man! Sounds pretty similar to mat bellamys' fuzz factory, only he has built his own in his guitar... that makes a lot easy modelling the sound when playing. I think i have to put the tool on a table or some other supports to reach it easylly.

    ciao folks!

  • funny that he used the Bob Marley tune, Al Anderson the guitarist for the Wailers used this pedal on his solos all the time during Bob Marley's last tour, you can hear it on every bootleg from Uprising Tour.

  • matt bellamy use this right? cool

  • buying.. now. how do you know he uses it tho?

  • Was that Jethro Tull at the beginning?

Loving that Synth. It's about time there was a synth pedal that sounded properly useable. I'd love to play around with it!

  • no it was chameleon played with three wrong notes by herbie hancock
