Hi Shawna I'm a fan of your work and love the medium. I've been playing with wax trying to achieve a smooth surface, but I'm getting these small holes, as if the wax is resisting the surface which is unprimed, untreated wood. Do you have any suggestions? I'd love to know the formula for the wax you use to create large pieces. Would love to hear from you! Thanks for any help you are willing to give! In beauty, Teresa

this is a beautiful video. The largest I have worked encaustic is approximately 8'x 6', but it is more of a wall relief sculpture. I enjoyed watching the way you build up texture....

this is incredible. I thought it was hard to paint encaustic on such big surfaces (especially canvass). Do you gesso the surface first? Any tricks to painting such a big piece and keeping the wax intact.

I don't think it is canvas, it's not flexing like a canvas would with all that pressure. scraping, hammering etc. I think its a wood substrate.
