I have to admit that Pogorelich's Scarlatti is also damned good. Some minor eccentricities here and there, but overall, some incredible finger dexterity! One of his very best records.
Pogo's not exactly warm and fuzzy - and these days he's extremely eccentric. Just check out his take on the Rachmaninoff Sonata! Bizarre is an understatement!
michelangeli is near-supreme. i'd grade him just below horowitz altogether - and above horowitz for sheer technical perfection in scarlatti. i do not know lipatti's playing in this music at all - i shall have to fix that. :)

more for me to listen to again. on my first hearing i could hear the greatness of control, but it struck me as detached.
