  • I have to admit that Pogorelich's Scarlatti is also damned good. Some minor eccentricities here and there, but overall, some incredible finger dexterity! One of his very best records.

  • more for me to listen to again. on my first hearing i could hear the greatness of control, but it struck me as detached.

  • Pogo's not exactly warm and fuzzy - and these days he's extremely eccentric. Just check out his take on the Rachmaninoff Sonata! Bizarre is an understatement!

  • Lipatti and Michelangeli were also wonderful Scarlatti players.

  • michelangeli is near-supreme. i'd grade him just below horowitz altogether - and above horowitz for sheer technical perfection in scarlatti. i do not know lipatti's playing in this music at all - i shall have to fix that. :)

  • no one except maybe Haskil gets anywhere near his playing of Scarlatti sonatas

  • i will have to re-listen to her in light of that. high praise. :)
