no it wouldnt be a g1. the magic has more RAM and more ROM memory. the g1 lifetime is soon coming to an end becuz of lack of needed hardware for updates.

The G1 and the Mytouch both have a 526Mhz Qualcomm processor and 192MB of ram. They are the game phone. The Mytouch just doesn't have a keyboard.

and no mytouch and g1 not same phone. besides the fact that the mytouch doesnt have a keyvboard.. the mytouch has double the ROM size. meaning more internal memory. and 2.0 elcair update will come to the mytouch, but not g1 due to lack of internal memory.

Who needs 2.0 when the mytouch can't have Sense UI. instead you have some crappy rooted roms.

how is custom roms crappy? u clearly know nothing. custom roms actually run faster than stock.. and u are jsut making urself look like a complete idiot..

vodaphone magic is technically imported but it cant have sense ui since its "google experience" phone.

uhm everyone needs 2.0 in order to have the new android updates. sense ui is pretty,but its a resource hog. even the hero is showing that it cannot handle sense ui smoothly.

Sense UI is basically a skin on the Android OS.

Android 2.0 is the core system and not a shiny skin, so its likely that the G1 and magic can handle 2.0.

It's the opposite. The myTouch 3G has 192mb and the HTC Magic has 288mb, which is equal to the HTC Hero.

in the usa the g1 is called the g1 and the htc magic is callled my touch both phone are only in t moble. im getting the g1 itz better.

nope not kidding . htc magic has 288mb or ram. the mytouch has 192mb of ram. that extra ram in the magic will help hero roms run smoother. and overall make the phone run smoother compared to the g1 and mytouch.

ive used both phones, personally I think the g1 is better, 1 because im not a big fan of touch keyboards, 2 browser isn't really good with the magic, im not saying the magic sucks, but i prefer the g1

it doesnt... where i am the magic and dream are the same amount of money.... so why not get the one with the keyboard... also can you explain to me what the hype is about the hero? it seems like the same thing as the magic

The Hero isn't a Google branded phone. It runs Android, but it has Exchange support and a lot of cool other features like HTC's new Sense UI, which is basically TouchFlo 3D for Android.

HTC isn't allowed to customize Android the way they want to and retain the "Google Phone" branding. So the Hero is the first Android phone that isn't locked down to Google's standards. That's why there's so much hype about it.

i got the magic and returned it for the dream. you are right i should have got the keyboard from the start. Cause the magic is FULL of bugs and the keyboard is one of them , such as i click w and a uu shows up, and i click space and it goes to the next line. The dream doesnt do anything of that.

I can't understand who wants the virtual keyboard, most iPhone users I know don't use there iPhone for text or IM very much, the extra size is worth it, and a plastic case makes it a little bigger and even easier to hold to type.

"Google phone" is just a nickname they use for these Android powered phones...but they are all made by HTC...so far
