no it wouldnt be a g1. the magic has more RAM and more ROM memory. the g1 lifetime is soon coming to an end becuz of lack of needed hardware for updates.
okay thats the mytouch. i was talking about the magic.
and no mytouch and g1 not same phone. besides the fact that the mytouch doesnt have a keyvboard.. the mytouch has double the ROM size. meaning more internal memory. and 2.0 elcair update will come to the mytouch, but not g1 due to lack of internal memory.
how is custom roms crappy? u clearly know nothing. custom roms actually run faster than stock.. and u are jsut making urself look like a complete idiot..
vodaphone magic is technically imported but it cant have sense ui since its "google experience" phone.
uhm everyone needs 2.0 in order to have the new android updates. sense ui is pretty, but its a resource hog. even the hero is showing that it cannot handle sense ui smoothly.
nope not kidding . htc magic has 288mb or ram. the mytouch has 192mb of ram. that extra ram in the magic will help hero roms run smoother. and overall make the phone run smoother compared to the g1 and mytouch.
ive used both phones, personally I think the g1 is better, 1 because im not a big fan of touch keyboards, 2 browser isn't really good with the magic, im not saying the magic sucks, but i prefer the g1
i say the magic is better. tho it lacks a physical keyboard. the hardware on the magic is better. more RAM and more ROM space on the magic than g1. more updates will come to the magic,.
it doesnt... where i am the magic and dream are the same amount of money.... so why not get the one with the keyboard... also can you explain to me what the hype is about the hero? it seems like the same thing as the magic
The Hero isn't a Google branded phone. It runs Android, but it has Exchange support and a lot of cool other features like HTC's new Sense UI, which is basically TouchFlo 3D for Android.
HTC isn't allowed to customize Android the way they want to and retain the "Google Phone" branding. So the Hero is the first Android phone that isn't locked down to Google's standards. That's why there's so much hype about it.
i got the magic and returned it for the dream. you are right i should have got the keyboard from the start. Cause the magic is FULL of bugs and the keyboard is one of them , such as i click w and a uu shows up, and i click space and it goes to the next line. The dream doesnt do anything of that.
I can't understand who wants the virtual keyboard, most iPhone users I know don't use there iPhone for text or IM very much, the extra size is worth it, and a plastic case makes it a little bigger and even easier to hold to type.
I like virtual keyboards better, so much cleaner, but only when they vibrate so it feels like a real keyboard like samsungs, I agree vitual keyboards from mac sucks !
okay guys, sorry, my bad, i wasnt informed well enough :) though google made their own mobile phone, and that this video ( like many others ) showed something completely irrelevant. Sorry again.
are they the same size?

The G1 and the Mytouch both have a 526Mhz Qualcomm processor and 192MB of ram. They are the game phone. The Mytouch just doesn't have a keyboard.

Who needs 2.0 when the mytouch can't have Sense UI. instead you have some crappy rooted roms.
Imported phones ftw.

Sense UI is basically a skin on the Android OS.
Android 2.0 is the core system and not a shiny skin, so its likely that the G1 and magic can handle 2.0.
chanace 2 years ago
It's the opposite. The myTouch 3G has 192mb and the HTC Magic has 288mb, which is equal to the HTC Hero.
1230986666 2 years ago
uhm didnt i says the mytouch3g has 192mb and htc magic 32a has 28mb
brianv3ntura 2 years ago

Do you know which I should get? I also use a iPod Touch so I don't know if that makes some functions pointless to use..
calvinblinkee 2 years ago
i say g1 because ive had it for quite some time now and i bought the magic and sold it about a week after i used it

the keyboard on the G1 is too bulky!!!! i personally do not like it at all!! its all about touch baby!!
mansonsaudi 2 years ago
yea, the new one is more of a girly phone, other than the removal of the physical keyboard theres nothing new right? sounds like a downgrade so far
Krazykillasgammert 2 years ago
I really wish they stuck a physical keyboard on the new one, sux!

jmerritt062 2 years ago
the magic will probably come out as the 'G2' in the U.S. this summer.
and it will most likely be on tmobile.
bulletkip 2 years ago

jmerritt062 2 years ago
well its your decision. Look around on youtube for both phones, and then decide which one you think is best.

Very well done. You covered all the questions I would have, but I have a G1 and prefer it to the touch screen keyboard.
Thanks.

When you reciece the android 1.5 update, you will have an on-screen keyboard with the G1
WhiteDragonXx08 2 years ago
I personally prefer the real keyboard even if the phone is bulky. I never really liked virtual keyboards(I had an ipod touch).
