  • THIS is the menu song... this is the best video game song ever.

  • what genre would this be classified as?

  • This song tells me many things yet these three: 1) The universe is larger, older and darker than anything you can imagine. 2) There were many great civilizations, many great people and many great tales before first mammals set foot on earth. You are pretty much a footnote. 3) Only now the reapers grand design is disrupted because the last members of a dying race worked and sacrificed themselves to give future races a chance against them. And you owe protheans a victory against the reapers.

  • anyone else notice that this music is only played in Mass effect 2 when you find an old squad member that doesn't join your crew?

  • Vigil said it took nearly a hundred years for the Reapers to totally wipe out the Protheans, and during that time the Reapers instituted a galaxy-wide communication blackout.

Can you imagine being the last Prothean world to fall? All you know is some calamity occurred 100 ago, and ever since then you haven't been able to communicate with anyone off world. You just sit there, isolated, for an entire century, with no idea as to why until the day the Reapers come to annihilate you.

  • @LukeAlto2007 what's more sad that according Casey Hudson the Protheans where close to defeating the Reapers to :(

  • I heard a rumor that the DLC character that launches with the N7 edition of the game is prothean, does anyone know if it's true?

  • @revenist do you want me to give spoiler to that?

  • @schapman235 My god I know I'm gonna regret this but sure....

  • I play this song everytime i play ME2 it gets me in the mood and i play for hours on end lol

  • If I to choose one game to play for the rest of my life, one game I never really get tired of, it is ME1. Best storyline i've ever had the pleasure of enjoying.

  • That feel when you find out Vigil was found without power after the events of Ilos.

  • @TehOak I know that feel bro.

  • this song sorta brings back some memories of a life i forgot about. a life i didn't want to forget about but the few blows to the head (some where in the region of 10 - 20 blows) when some guy was trying to kill me left me with a lot of memory damage. luckily its only my memory that has been damaged.. and some how i think i've gained access to the right side of my brain lol. i mean i keep getting strange visions which come true, and i have some designs for technology jumping into my head.

  • the thing I loved most about ME1 was the space exploration aspect, this song sums that feeling up for me the best, I was so disappointed when they took that out of ME2, I hope they re institute it ME3.

  • @GregTehGoose Point is, when you are in a "race against time with saren" the story commands you to chase it, not to start a galaxy-wide exploration course for minerals and matriarch writings. Same goes for collectors attacking colonies and reapers entering milky way. And ME2 actually didn't took out exploration, it redesigned it.

  • That feel when you'll never again play Mass Effect for the first time...

  • I dont know why but i fear in mass effect 3 bioware is going to drifit away from the beautiful feeling that this song gave you in mass effect 1.

  • The ruins of a great civilization, once mighty and strong

It's people kind and intelligent, just like this song

Their hopes and dreams cut short, by a great threat

The these people, all of the galaxy gives their debt

This was only the beginning, and soon there will be another harvest

One man stands tall, for all the lives in the galaxy, he has to be the best

  • Okay, seriously. The tear-happy posts need to stop. Yes, this game is fantastic and the scene related to the awesome music is touching and incredible.

But for the love of the Asari STOP making all these like-baiting posts talking about how you were reborn after playing this game or how you went into a depression about the poor, poor Protheans.

Christ, for such an original game the fans seem to make the most cliche, corny posts.

  • @Blahgahbleh well no one is making you read them are they it's going to happen regardless

  • @Blahgahbleh Thumbs down'd for "the love of Asari"

    Pretty cheesy bro. =\

  • @Blahgahbleh I like the posts... perhaps you should stop reading them and just shut up so others can enjoy them without accedentaly reading your coments

  • @RoboZaz Nah. Anyone who fits the abnormal array of cornily described emotion seen here is either mentally disturbed or deserves to be made fun of.

  • @Blahgahbleh I see nothing wrong in them. It's not their fault. Blame Bioware for knowing how to make a bunch of pixels alive and give them much more depth than you might find in some games today. Besides reading them is far better than reading those arrow-to-the-knee and someone-stole-your-sweetrole jokes, comments that refer to the dislike bar, that speak of bieber, Chuck Noris.... Now that is just irritating....

  • @FantasyForever1

Touche on the arrow to the knee and other crap comments.

  • Mass effect 1 story iss better than Mass effect 2, it was more focused on the mission, rather than the crew, also there was no main antagonist like saren.

  • I keep hearing the menu buttons from the main menu with this track >.>

  • Two Reapers voted on this.

  • Just imagine: it's the end of Mass Effect 3.

The Reapers are gone, destroyed over Earth's atmosphere. Shepard and gang limp out of the wreckage as hundreds of fighters of every species cheer their survival/victory.

As a celebration starts, Shepard walks away, finding a spot to stare at the Sun setting over the horizon. Their LI joins them. Together, they embrace. Both look out into the distance as the camera pans up past the sunset to the night sky, amid Reaper debris.

    The credits roll.

  • @HowlingWolf518 Beautiful :')

  • When did the last version play in the game? I remember hearing it but I forgot where.

  • @3C3D3S3 In Mass Effect 1 it was when you actually talked to Vigil. Mass Effect, only time I remember it being in the game was when you meet the person you saved from Virmire when investigating the human colony on Horizon.

  • Mass Effect 4? Please BioWare?

  • @zach633 I'd actually rather they not.

  • @Wolfsrain90 Seconded. Some things should just end at a certain point, regardless of how much people want more.

  • @zach633 there might be more Mass Effect....but not with shep

  • Most amazing moment of the game...and even if it was ruined, the most amazing and beautiful world.

  • the conversation with sovereign and the conversation with vigil are the most memorable moments of the game for me. hearing this music at the menu screen immediately raised my hopes for the game. then to hear it again on ilos. i will never forget what it felt like the first time i played this game.

  • So simple yet so powerful, I f I were to ever travel into space this song would be looping at the highest possible volume. ME is such a great game.

  • Despite going through the same 5 rooms on every planet, despite the broken economy, despite the semi-frustrating challenges of the combat system, despite the elevators, and despite any shortcoming of ME1, this scene with Vigil and this music made ME1 so much more real to me. The emotions that this simple beautiful piece evokes made ME1 10 times as memorable as ME2 (although that's still an awesome game! ^_^). I really really hope that ME3 can pull off those same feelings I got in ME1.

  • @KoriantorST

Yeah. the only reason i played mass effect 1 was for the story since the default me2 shepard was a dick (literally). I almost brought the online comic instead. I'm so glad that i decided to buy the game instead. Money well spend. Hopefully ME3 will have the rpg elements of me1 (less repeative) and the combat/interaction system of me2. Its like the best of both worlds. Sigh hearing this music makes me 'feel' like im in that scene. I still remember it clearly like a light blub memory

  • Come on soctiey hurry up and get to mars and find that prothean beacon so i can get into space!

  • It's one of that games where, even though you want to play, when you run the game, you wait 2 or 3 minutes after loading the campaign because of the menu music.

  • There is no better tune that will make you think about space and all it holds... EPIC!

  • Cannot find this version anywhere, I beg to have this explicit version made attainable D:

  • That's the only scene in both of the Mass Effect series that really captured me. The way Virgil spoke, the way he described everything was all so amazing. If i was there i would've been awestruck by it

  • Comment removed

  • Definitly prefer Mass Effect 2 to 1, but that start menu...

  • Comment removed

  • Simplemente maravilloso, de las mejores bandas sonoras jamás compuestas, es algo realmente precioso que te transporta a otro mundo!!! MASS EFFECT LA MEJOR SAGA DE LA HISTORIA

  • Man I remember when I first heard this tune when talking to Vigil for the first time. The whole story about how the Protheans sacrificed the last of their people so Shepard could have a way to get back to the Citadel. It's amazing how creative some people can be coming up with stories like this.

I also love it when this plays in ME2 every time you meet an old squad member. It definitely sets the mood of reuniting.

  • In Mass Effect 3, if this music plays while Shepard is sacrificing himself in the end.... I will be crying my eyes out for days

  • @CommanderWilliamN7 It will be very sad for me too.. Because I love the story of Commander Shepard. But I think it would be the best ending the whole trilogy.

  • @CommanderWilliamN7 Yeah but hes already died once.

  • @CommanderWilliamN7 If any of the original mass effect characters die to this I will pause the game, then write Bioware a "thank you" note, cry in the fetal position for a couple of minutes, then find and kill the person or thing responsible for that moment of un-manliness.

  • @revenist ...I'm happy to see I'm not the only one to be unhealthily affected by video games.

  • @dystopianangel Bioware games tend to affect me more than any other, I don't know why but maybe they're just that damn good at making video games

  • @CommanderWilliamN7

I hope they don't pull some stupid sacrificial bullshit.

  • Before I moved on to stop that bastard I decided to hang around Ilos a bit more. I looked at all those crypts, remembered Vigil's story and the music as he spoke of the tragedy.... The whole Ilos part was fascinating.

Those poor, brave souls. Those Reapers bastards! I was in tears. I should not allow a bunch of pixels to get me, but it bloody did. Come to think of it nearly all Bioware games had me at some point in tears. After this game is over, its Dragon Age 3 turn.

  • i like the second one, but the first....holy shit, when that final battle came around I was sitting 3 cm in front of the TV looking like a deer in the headlights, staring up in awe at the glorious ass beat that was being laid down....I was strait crying like a bitch when i thought shepherd died

  • Probably the most peaceful thing I've ever heard.

  • Already pre-ordered the ME3 Collector's Edition. I'm Commander Shepard and this is my most anticipated game of 2012.

  • This song reminds me of why I like the 1st game so much better. The story was so much better and it made me want to know the next part really badly. The second game was more of me racing through the "collect your team" portion of 2 expecting another half of the game with a badass story about you and your badass team's badass-ery. Instead it was "oh make these choices in a couple hours OH THESE PEOPLE DIED SHIT GAME'S OVER".

  • @AlmightyODST

Sounds like you played it wrong then. For me a playthrough of hardcore usually takes a couple days, at least.

  • @Blahgahbleh I didn't mean "racing through" to mean that it didn't take long. My first playthrough on hardcore was 37 hours. I simply meant that my expectations were extremely high because of how good the first game's story was that I couldn't stop playing me2. I was expecting a good 2nd portion to the game after the team building simply because my expectations were that the story would be good. Story was shit though..here's hoping 3 remedies that.

  • @AlmightyODST Fair enough. It sounds like you just had different expectations.

Needless to say I disagree though. There are two types of stories, plot driven and character driven. Aside from what the player chose to make Shepard do in the first game, for the most part ME1 was plot driven. ME2 was all about the characters. Jack having maturity issues is relatively insignificant plotwise, but definitive of her character.

I'd say both stories are equal for what they did in their own ways.

  • "Come back soon..."

  • won't be the same without jack wall and sam hullick doing the ME3 soundtrack.

this song is just mesmerising. honestly does wonders for me to listen to. i loved the game, the setting, the characters. everything.

the soundtrack was just beautiful. <3 Mass Effect series.

  • @09Spence indeed. let's hope for the best.

  • 2:08 - 2:50 <3

  • Many people can't understand me, but I choose ME1 over ME2. The first one was literally epic, and it was one of the greatest adventures I ever played, while ME2 was "only" the best movie I ever played.

  • @morugatu1

Absolutely correct, the only things that made me even bother finishing Mass Effect 2 were character interactions/development and...

    That's pretty much it.

It had no storyline and what it tried to present as such was awfully lame,, nothing worth noting, it took out pretty much everything that made Mass Effect a great game AND it contradicted so many of its "Codex" it's ridiculous.

It should be noted that while ME2 was dumbed down to a basic shooter, it was because of EA.

  • @UshiromiyaReiji wait how did it contradict its own codex? I have spent alot of time reading the codex and playing the game and I ahve no idea what you are talking about.

  • @UshiromiyaReiji There's nothing wrong with the story in ME2. It gave an actual reason for the Reapers' extinction cycles, harvesting organic life as their only means of reproduction. i think that and Cerberus added a lot of complexity to the series it that wasn't necessarily there in the first game.

As for combat, ME1 had a lot of issues there, there's no denying it. ME2 improved on most of those. They severely limited the number of powers you could use, but that's not that big of a deal.

  • @ginnoveffect

    Wow, really?

    Cerberus added complexity?

Shepard dying was an awfully lame excuse to introduce them as suddenly being the good guys after the first game, where BioWare made SURE to present them in the most detestable light possible.

...And now they're suddenly bad again. It's like BioWare is acknowledging how dumb that idea was and is pretending it didn't happen.

Mass appeal 2 was a filler game through and through.

You're basically BACK WHERE YOU WERE at the end of the last game.

  • @UshiromiyaReiji "Suddenly the good guys"? "Suddenly bad again"? That's ridiculous. The Illusive Man is the most suspicious guy around. It's basically spelled out that Cerberus is going betray you soon. Asking for the Collector base intact is a huge red flag. Not to mention all the sketchy shit that goes on in the books. Cerberus adds complexity because they're the only ones acknowledging the Reaper threat, and yet they're the last ones you can trust. In ME1 it was a bit more black and white.

  • @ginnoveffect

That still doesn't change the fact that Shepard "dying" was a lame excuse to introduce them as major players in the "storyline" of the second game. They could have done it in a different way.

And now Illusive Man is "indoctrinated" suddenly? How?

I definetely agree that his request to give him intact Reaper technology makes it obvious he plans on utilizing it for anything BUT helping repel the Reaper threat, though.

I obviously never gave the base to him and told him to sod off.

  • @UshiromiyaReiji Sure they could have done it differently. But having Shepard die takes away what little support he used to have from the council and the alliance and makes him more dependent on Cerberus, granting The Illusive Man some influence. Clearly we don't know why or how he might be indoctrinated yet, since ME3 isn't out yet, but the book Retribution deals with him testing the indoctrination effects of Reaper technology. It's not unreasonable to guess that it might have backfired.

  • Also, you mention Cerberus' involvement in the first game. Every Cerberus mission in ME1 involves two things: the Thorian and the Rachni, the same two things Saren was showing interest in. To me this shows that Cerberus was aware of Saren's activities, knew that after the attack on Eden Prime, Saren posed a threat to humanity. So they tried to understand what he was up to, tried to develop some type of countermeasure. That's why by the time ME2 rolls around, they know so much about the Reapers.

  • @ginnoveffect

Bulldog-face mentions Cerberus wanted to create some sort of super shock trooper from the Rachni they hatched.

  • @morugatu1 Mass Effect 1 was about discovering beauty in the universe, and working to protect that beauty. In Mass Effect 2 we journeyed into darkness, seeing the worst that can be brought out in a sapient being, and we fought the embodiement of human evil, we defeated it.

It ME3 we will recover, we will see that evil and darkness try and tear apart the beauty of the universe, and having defeated it ourselves we will be able to venture forth and show others how to as well.

  • @Ralokone mass effect 1 was about shooting dudes. mass effect 2 was about shooting some other dudes. mass effect 3 will be about shooting some more dudes

  • @SomethingRules bioware has never made a game so crude as you describe

  • @Ralokone would you have played the mass effect games at all if it wasn't for the core gameplay mechanic (which is, in case you missed it, shooting dudes)?

  • @SomethingRules yes. . . yes I would have. . without any semblance of doubt . . .and in case you missed it the core gameplay mechanic of mass effect was the story.

Bioware builds games not for gameplay, the combat in their games is typically very traditional (in mass effects case very reminiscient of gears of war)

What they excel at is excellent storytelling and crafting unique and beautiful universes, if I just wanted to shoot dudes I would play gears multiplayer all day

  • @Ralokone would you still call mass effect's storytelling "excellent" if it wasn't a video game? the story would have been considered pretty weak in any other medium - it's just that the standard for video game writing isn't that high

  • @SomethingRules yes I would! It has a great story, with many branching limbs and intricate details woven into a vast and complex universe!

although aside from this song the music is pretty weak in both of the games

And you cant have played too many good video games if you think the standard of writing isnt that high in video games. Either that or you are the kind of jackass who skips cutscenes because you dont have the patience for a good story.

  • @Ralokone can you give me examples of video games you would consider to have really good story/writing? just wondering.

  • @SomethingRules Hell yes I can, gears of war reached an emotional level rarely reached in war stories involving science fiction aspects. Halo unfolded into a far more massive universe than it began as, expanding excellently. Portal 1/2 managed to grip the player and wrench their hearts with no speaking human characters. Grand Theft auto shows the many sides of crime and how it destroys peoples lives.

Lord have mercy, there are too many good stories in video gaming

  • @SomethingRules Dragon Age origins, God of war invokes some true greek tragedy, viva pinata tells a story of a strange world that is not aas we understand.

That is where video games excell at that movies are not always able to do . . . showing worlds. . . universes . . . new horizons.

The first thing I saw in mass effect was nihlus . . . something a turian, something I have never seen before . . . then the keepers, the elcor, and the volan. Well thought out peoples in a grand universe.

  • @SomethingRules you may not consider these stories worth your time, or anything new . . . but can you say that a creation of yours, and that your choices exist in that universe, are viable to exsist . . . in a film . . no

In games we are given a playground, and success or failure in a story depends truly on the effort one puts into it. If you die, the story halts, and you must try harder . . . .

    truely games are incredible

my opinion though, you dont have to share it

  • @SomethingRules mass 1 and mgs 1,2,3 are top there are some other realy great storys but these are work of art,mgs 3 is apsolutly amazing!

  • @morugatu1 I'm not sure what to say to this. I loved everything about Mass Effect 2, and it improved upon Mass Effect 1 in many ways, but there were several parts like Vigil that were some of the best moments in video game history for me.

  • @morugatu1 I know what you mean. Even though in the first mass Effect the sidequest were all the same, the worlds you traveled, undiscovered worlds, that looked completely frightening, like real uncharted worlds, with ruins, expeditions, harsh environments, and all that. I kinda missed that level of deepness in Mass Effect 2.

  • what is beyond space???? just wonderinnnn

  • @mishcasa beyond our wrapped up 3d space is where all realities actuate into existence and all possibilities become reality. even this space is divided into higher dimensions. at the highest, all forces, possibilities and realities collide to form a superforce (electromagnetism, gravity, strong & weak nuclear forces together) that is god, governs the physics of our 3d space. the highest dimension opens up into infinity, with the superforce(god) trickling down into all dimensions, like ours.

  • This music is so beautiful. I remember how moving the moment when you spoke with Vigil on Ilos was. How surreal the moment connecting with the past in such a vast and harsh future. The world was a peace, the music added to that peace.

Very few games can capture that moment. Very few movies, books, plays or stories could have pulled off that simple moment and given it such life and passion. I was in tears after that conversation. I hope ME3 has something similar.

  • @Kaystreet

That scene in Mass Effect sure evoked alot of emotions. Its the only scene in Mass Effect series that really captured my emotions in such a captivating way. The way he described it and everything, how it all unfold 1 by 1 just so, awesome. If i was there in person i would've been awestruck. I understand why Liara wanted to stay and heck, she was right about the fact that it would be the one and only time that they would see Virgil ever again.

  • @SupaL33tKillar This scene alone made the whole game a thousand times more memorable (which is an impressive statement!). It is truly awe inspiring, the music is perfect and it was carefully and wonderfully executed. I sincerely hope Clint Mansell can capture the same feeling as Jack Wall. He's got quite a challenge ahead of him.

  • @KoriantorST

I hope it has a cameo for some powerfully emotional scene in mass effect 3!! Seriously, whenever i listen to this music, i can 'feel' myself being there in that scene. You understand me? Its hard to explain. Its like so tranquil yet depressing since its when Virgil related the downfall of the Proteans. Shit I'm gonna cry for days when the series is over like commanderwilliamn7 said. No other story in a video game (few movies) can beat this game. So far not yet atleast.

  • every time i turned mass effect on i would always listen to the music before i started the game.

  • This song never fails to send chills down my spine...I'll miss you, Vigil. Your shutdown was not in vain.

  • 2 people who disliked this were hopped up on crack and couldn't properly enjoy how amazing this music is.

  • @rsenic7 No the 2 people who disliked this were indocturanted by Sovereign.

  • Such soothing music

  • This song makes me forget about all the bad things I've got in the head, and think of a paceful world somewhere in the galaxy... A world we will never know about.

  • @morugatu1 ...you're kidding me with this, yeah?

  • @morugatu1 i guess their are going back to a lot of ME1 stuff. i couldn't agree more man. i played ME2 first, and when i popped in ME1 i was like "the combat in this game is horrible." but when i got further into the game i was in awe. especially on virmire, where you lose ash or kaiden. it felt like someone died that Ive known forever. me1 is the best game i have ever played.

  • @morugatu1 There are no words to describe how much I agree. I loved ME2, but the original is infinitely greater as it has the explorative wonder an RPG should have. ME2 was simply a shooter with dialogue.

  • @Xizor15 I think ME2 was better but I miss that exploration on planets from 1. I loved finding stuff and climbing the mountains. In 2 you were really limited to areas...also you can't explore the Council and that sucks.

  • @morugatu1 We have been exploring many different parts of the galaxy in each game. The first one explored the grandness of the worlds out there. The second one took us to the many species out there. Now, we shall see them both in the midst of war in 3. There is a great beauty in them all which I hope we will not soon forget.

  • just goes to show that mainstream gamers are fucking idiots. this is nothing special.

@HowlingWolf518 nice try at being poetic and profound, but that's just more sophomoric drivel stating the obvious.

@Blahgahbleh you are about as far away as possible from a great mind.

  • @zackhanscom I think the majority pointed out in this video that they are anything but mainstream. We are all in agreement that ME2 was complete shit, we also agree that ME2 was manufactured for a mainstream audience. Also, are you aware that you might not be into this kind of music? I would have never guessed people might have different tastes, what a shocker!

  • @Dionkeyundead

No, we are not all in agreement. Mass Effect 2 was an outstanding game. I prefer ME1's story-line overall, but ME2 was anything but "shit".

  • @Kloborgg ME2 was "shit" in the sense that they abandoned a lot of the original lore, plot points, and themes to make a simpler story for casual players to get into. So yes, I think ME2 was shit considering how far it went backwards from ME1.

  • @Dionkeyundead

What lore did they abandon? Are you saying it's shit because they didn't completely recycle the first story? Sorry, but people like you can't be pleased if the story is to evolve and continue. Please don't bring that vague "casual player" euphemism into the conversation. Your opinion isn't any more important than a player who disagrees with you.

  • Comment removed

  • @Kloborgg They abandoned all kinds of lore and replaced them with random BS. Kinect Barriers, Thermal Clips and Omni-Tools transforming into turrets to name a few. The story was garbage. They killed Shepard to justify a sequel that had little ties to the main antagonist (The Reapers) and then proceeded to reveal very little about the main plot of the trilogy. Instead, they created a game to manufacture a new plot point and enemy: Cerberus. They did this to make a braindead story for newcomers.

  • @Dionkeyundead

Thermal clips and omni tools qualify as "lore" for you? I tend to care more about the races/history in ME, not the subtle game-play changes. Killing Shepard was in no way a justification of anything; they could have included the collectors without that, it just spicened up the story. You seem to want a sequel that acts as a segway between ME1 and ME3. Bioware wanted the second game to have its own solid story-line, which includes ridiculous character depth and new enemies.

  • @Kloborgg They are fundamental pieces of lore because they are the science the game was built upon. I qualify ME2 and 3 as fantasy games because they pretty much use magic to explain everything. Killing Shepard was a trope to introduce Cerberus, nothing else. They could have replaced the collectors with anyone and said "These guys are the modern Protheans". The characters in ME2's plot are the only good thing.

  • @zackhanscom

Haha, I was agreeing with you dude. Although in retrospect I can see how you'd think I was being sarcastic.

  • @morugatu1 You speak my mind. Thank you :D

  • Does anybody know of another piece of music sounding like this? I really like Vigil and I was wondering if there was something similar sounding that exists and if you could send me a link.

  • I don't know why, but this music could use some piano...

  • This music describes time.

  • @neotokonaut it describing time is a good discription. For me It embodies the prothean race. There struggle to survive. All there dreams. Finaly there defeat with still a hope for the future. bitter sweet.

  • Tranquil, calming, sobering, tragic, and yet, hopeful, all subtended under an overall feeling of EPIC.

Whether you're hearing Vigil's requiem for the Protheans, listening to Carl Sagan's Pale Blue Dot as you contemplate the fragility of life, staring into the night sky and wondering how far it goes, looking at the ruins of a long-gone ancient culture, or just watching fireworks (like I did last night)... this is beautiful.

  • @HowlingWolf518

Pale Blue Dot... YES. The two are SO similar. Great minds think alike.

  • This might seem a bit extreme but I have to say the Mass effect is the greatest game series, greatest sci fi story, maybe greatest story ever told, its just beautiful.

  • I have no doubt that the ending of Mass Effect 3, whether its happy or sad, will make me cry throughout the credits. Saying goodbye to a 4 year gaming experience along with Garrus, Wrex, Liara, Jack, Thane, Mordin (screw Ashley). Knowing no other video game franchise will come close to the awesomeness of Mass Effect. Just thinking about that moment now is making me tear up a bit. And if this song plays during the credits God help me I'll be inconsolable.

  • @MyNameBeStudz if they play this as the credits roll on ME3 i swear to god i will weep like a child

  • @CAARaeed They better play this song PERIOD in ME3.

  • @pbrad08 yes at the end of ME3 THAT WOULD BE NICE

  • @CAARaeed

I kinda wept on Faunts - M4 ..... in the end of the first game... What a feeling it was.... :x

Never felt like that in any other game..

  • @MyNameBeStudz agreed ashley sucks.

  • when mass effect 3 comes out, i'm just gonna have vigil on repeat on my ipod when i pick it up from the store. and than ascend to the next level of existence: Prothean.

  • I hafta say, mass effect is my favorite sci fi story out there. I love everything bout it. Its more realistic than star wars & halo, but its also more fun & interesting than star trek. Everything from the feel to the style is just plain original. This is wut sci fi should be, mass effect should be a somewhat of a goal to all sci fi.

  • No it's not a hybrid...it's simply the best sci-fi story out there

  • I love mass effect. It's like the perfect hybrid of Star Wars, Halo, Final Fantasy, Star Trek, etc.

  • yeah i hope mass effect 3 has this song in it

  • I played plenty of games, but this is the game Ill always associate with high school ;) Ill have to buy one last game next year when Im in college: the third one <3

  • I will remember playing mass effect for the rest of my life.

  • im gonna play this video when i open up my Mass effect 3 N7 Collectors edition when i get it on March 6th.. its gonna be epic! :D

  • you know, now that I hear this tune again, I'd love to hear Davy Spillane play it.

  • It was a shock and a huge dissapointment that Bioware didn't choose Jack Wall and Sam Hullick for ME3. I just cannot understand this. I don't believen anyone else has the affinity to make such song that touches the soul of so many people.

  • @techdefined Ah! I agree with you completely. I'm sure there's a lot of behind-the-scenes reasons for them not being chosen though. Like most things it probably had to do with money.

  • @techdefined Clint Mansell is an amazing composer, so if I were you, I'd hold my breath. I just hopes he can nail the feeling of the Mass Effect-universe - that must be the toughest part.

  • @techdefined

I don't understand that decision at all.

That's like hiring Nino Rota to score an animated comedy.

    It makes no sense.

What are they trying to achieve?

1/3rd of what made Mass Effect 1 so great was Hulick and Wall's score.

  • @techdefined they had a huuuuuuuuge fight about money and jack wall quit. sam hulick wasnt even allowed to play for the second mass effect. it really wont be the same without them.

  • @lesbiansaregoodandch Which is very strange considering they went and hired a hollywood composer in Clint Mansell. I'm sure they could've kept Wall on if they had just paid him whatever they're paying Mansell. I guess all that Wall did for the series was just conveniently overlooked. Oh well, shit happens I guess. Still, Mansell is an amazing composer, so I'm very much looking forward to hearing his take on the series.

  • @BreathofArda I get the feeling he will draw upon the previous guys to a reasonable level

  • @BreathofArda this is very true. im sure it will still be amazing. but i dont know jack wall and sam hulick are awesome haha. im sure we will hear some jack wall in other games. but nothing will ever beat mass effect one music. priceless!

  • @techdefined it is a dissapointment but at least they got a good renown composer to make the music in the third. plus they are going to put alot of sam and jacks music in there to :)

  • @techdefined you are 100% right about that but Clint Mansell is also a huge music composer(music exemple ghots of things to come from requieme for a dream and the music title ), you ll see :) i think they should have made a cooperative music production, it a little bit lame to cut the thing with the seed of the atmosphere that made those game so great :) but i'am confident that he will do good work :)

  • This song ist the most intense piece of sound ever in a game along the music of the waterdragon in Jade Empire also composed by the unique and incredible Jack Wall. This song reminds me the humanity we are so cruel to each other, we destroy ourselfs and our planet, it makes me very sad but there is still some hope we will one live in peace and harmony. Thats similar to the message of the protheans. I could listen this song over hours and still it amazes me. What a masterpiece!

  • Even Chuck Norris bows down to Commander Shepard.

  • sounds like its echoing through space.

  • Waiting till 06.03.12 for ME3, meanwhile playing EVE online and listening to this... so epic :' ) unthinkable <3

  • @Zandercode

is there a way to download the first two and last ones?

  • FRIGGIN AWESOME!!

  • This is my favorite song from both games. It is purely Sci-Fi. It fits the game so well and makes me imagine the universe this game takes place in.
