  • poor guy looked like he was beating himself up about staying.

  • Wait what happened to his dogs?

  • Rita*

  • alot of the reason why people chose to stay behind this time is because everybody saw what a disorganized clusterfuck of a mess the riat evacuation was, all those people like me and ym family that got trapped on teh roadways in Houston told themselves never again, screw it, next time I might as well justs tay home and ride it out, safer than being in your car on the road and riding it out there, take your pick which would you rather ride it out in if you were in their shoes, think about it

  • "..and mom, I'm ok" hahahahhah!!

  • YOU"RE SUPPOSED TO THE DARE!!!!

  • I'm not going to beat up on the guy because he lived to learn his lesson, but please folks, don't stay behind. yea it is an incovenience, but hell at least you live. Don't have your family suffering.

  • This guy is an idiot. I agree you do surf BEFORE a hurricane. But you cannot blame people for staying. I'm not a media blamer but we had "Supposivly" 3 Hurricanes at least and we got NOTHING.

Of course with something like Ike, which got bigger. I think you should leave. But we should have stayed anyways because we had tons of shutters and our house had a metal roof. We can't wait to move back though. We miss it VERY much!

  • i had 2 50 foot trees fall one that fell to the north and one to the south.

  • I stayed for Ike. Dont regret it either. In fact I await the next one. Bring it on.

  • messengerofgod2011, are you out of your freaking mind? Bring it on? That thing killed a lot of people, destroyed homes and lives and ruined entire cities. Bring on the next one? Shut your mouth.

  • >.> You are wasting your breath dude. But frankly, I dont really care wat anyone does when it comes to storms like hurricanes. I dont know them and I dont live there so it doesnt really matter. Besides, the guy survived so he got the luck of the draw.

I think messenger has major balls to say bring it on to mother nature, knowing the destruction she can bring. >.> I'd say the same thing.

  • It's ok for people to ride out storms and risk their own lives, but what about the rescue workers that have to come in after bad storms to find people? Their lives get put in danger because some jerks didn't wanna just get up and go.

By your rationale, should rescue workers have a choice to leave the survivors stranded? I mean, they track these storms from the very start and have a good idea of where it will be and when. It's wrong their lives get put in danger for jagoffs like that.

  • That's exactly the reason why several states are putting in place mandatory evacuation procedures in the case of natural disasters. In the event of something catastrophic, officials have the authority to force you to leave. If you put up a fight, you are arrested.

It's a shame they have to treat citizens like children because of their irresponsibilty. Too many injuries (both the idiots & rescue workers) and deaths too. Same thing with seatbelt laws.

  • ROFL Jagoffs! Didn't think I'd see that coming from anywhere outside of home.

  • danna yo you made a horrible mistake

  • "i wanted to surf" - FAILED

  • You surf BEFORE a hurricane. NOT after. What's he gonna do? Surf with the boards and wire and broken boats and pieces of furniture?Idiot.

  • @windonthewater oh yeah, that makes PERFECT SCENSE, because even now is after hurricane ike. so whos the idiot, YOU

  • haha come on, the man wanting to surf... probably with a self-propelled surf board via car battery.

  • Yet another Darwin Award candidate. I will never understand why people do not heed evacuation orders.

  • Him along with the thousand or so who rode out the storm near the coast. And the cry and beg rescue officals to "help" them under a fallen tree or roof.

  • >.> Seriously, who cares wat they did? Not yer problem. U cant control wat ppl say or think or do. If ppl wanna stay and ride out a storm, thats wat they are gonna do and no amount of criticism or yelling or force is gonna change their minds.

Just like all those ppl who continue to live in places with lots of twisters or earthquakes. No matter how many times they get hit or how much devastation is caused, they wont leave

  • @djbuck1 Just like those two idiots who stayed in the bait shop OVER the ocean. The guy said he stayed because he had seen thunderstorms worse than Ike. I have lived in Texas my whole life and I have never seen a thunderstorm with 100mph winds.

He and his girlfriend are the ones who really deserve the Darwin Award.

  • @djbuck1 i stayed for ike, it was hardly different than a thunderstorm and rain. its not a common thing for hurricanes to be THAT dangerous. a few people may die, and yes their deaths could have been avoided had they evacuated, but the chances per individual are hardly worth paying to leave town. ive never evacuated a hurricane, my house is still standing, and i'd have been mad each time coming home knowing i could have stayed through it.

  • @HailPretender

If you live along the coast you should evacuate due mainly to the danger of the storm surge. If you live inland there is no need to unless you live in a mobile home. Mayor White was the one that told people to leave in Houston during Rita and that was a big mistake as you know. Most were not here in 1983 and didn't know any better. As a result of the Ritachaos few left for Ike and lots of lives were lost. I think next time people will use more common sense having gone thru Ike.

  • @djbuck1 I can understand to an extent. I mean, yeah it's your home and all but, damn. With the way our weather has been intensifying over the years, it would be wise to evacuate.
