I just got my drone flute down from the shelf after ignoring it for a year or so, and it felt good to play it, I even tried singing into it while I played. I'd love to take it camping sometime.
Charles, you are such an inspiration to me. Not only as an incredible flute maker and player, but as a compassionate, caring and giving human being. Thank you for all you do !!!
As a white man I find it strange that only Indian and Asian flute players music goes straight to my soul. Any other peoples doesn't do it for me, unless it's some I haven't heard yet.
I just bought my first one yesterday and I'm in love. I was in love since watching my first live performance of a Native music group. I will never put this beautiful instrument down.
I love to hear the flute and I play around with a plastic flute but they are nothing in sound or looks as compared to the wooden flutes my dad has in his collection of flutes and peace pipes. Sorry to say he does not have one of yours But still loves them none the less. Each is sentimental to him from different ppl from diffrent Indian heritages and tradings. Keep up the musical beauty from within.
I love how the flute makes me feel. As the air travels out of me and through it, I am released into the world, into the wind. What a magical instrument and what an awesome video. Thanks so much. :)
Yo mon you can't blame your self for the death of those inosent soles. It's all of all brodda an sisstas ansestas fault. so forgive your self child because those people are with us but they are not us.
Hearing Carlos Nakai's music for the first time spoke to me and calmed me....such a spiritual sound. My husband and I got married with that beautiful sound in the background of the ceremony which took place in our home amongst much native american art. Your music and craftsmanship are very healing Charles. The world is a better place because of this. Thank you.
Thank you for the beautiful music.I have to ask how I can make one.I dont have the money to buy one,and i dont know how to make a flute.Bless father spirit and mother earth.Im trying hard to learn how to be a human being but there are so few teachers.
Thank you for cheering this beautiful sound and how people can find a new start in ther life , if the want two listin to ther inner voice . I'm a player to . In a transrite they gave me the name White Wolf . I see my self as a flute prayer . If i play the flute i have always the feeling that it is a prayer for someone of ceremony for something who need it . I wish you a lot of happynis , succes , wisdom and freedom and a lot of health . Follow the Eagle .
i have a flute made by this good man, and talk to Charlie often truly a master and a very enlightened soul..his wife is a special soul as well..thank you charlie!
the more people we have like this man the better :) I hope young native people (and all people really) can be helped to be as peaceful and creative and connected to their good heritage. He learned the hard way, not everyone has to!!
@stickwalker have you seen that finished flute he made on this vid? its amazing! i mean prolly the most beautiful piece of wood and head block i ever seen!..he is the best...glad you have one of his flutes they truly sing...
@themuntstick if you have a facebook look him up, and the info is there...if not Vicky can help ya out i believe she uploaded this..they are always on e-bay but they go FAST!..one day these flutes will be very sought after like a ole 57 gold top Les Paul guitar...he had one up yesterday made outta African zebra wood, i was so close to getting it,but my next is a double drone..
Thank you for sharing Charles, I have loved your talents. You flutes have the masters touch. You share your gifts and create instruments so that others can have the medicine that soothes the soul. Please continue as you are appreciated greatly.
Charles you have inspired me, your right it's not music it's medicine,it's the same when i paint, or write poetry, it's medicine it's sole and spirit building, honoring, and thanking the great spirit for the gift of your creation which is not possible with out him, keep it up Charles you know the true meaning of spirituality, vnvhe Osceola.
Osiyo Takes courage to follow your dreams and you did it Charles you are a great man and insperation im so thankfull i found you on face book honour to have a great man like you for a friend
Charles, I would like to thank you for the medicine, it is good for the heart. No doctor could make a person feel better than your music does. No matter how bad life seems to be, it brings purity to our hearts and the creator closer to our souls.
Osiyo, You are an insperation to me! Your story has touched me deeply Littleleaf. I have always been drawn to spiritual path of my Cherokee ancestors, and the sounds of the flute music! To honor all life. It will do me a great honor to some day play one of your flutes as I sit and enjoy the presance of the Great Spirit, by a stream mabey.
I am Cherokee and Choctaw. After hearing your story and tears running in my eyes I realized that I would enjoy the flute. I am a musician and currently play the bass guitar, as I have for the last 23 years. I haven't ever played a Native American flute before, but just recently I heard him playing one on this video not too long ago.. almost brought me to tears, I'm going to learn to play one as soon as I can.
It really reaches into your soul and brings you at peace, it's really something.
Charles Littleleaf has always touched my soul; this is a beautiful video. Thank you! I'm ashamed of what my ancesters did to Native Americans. Proud I am of my people, but my God...the greed. The graciousness of the Native Americans, their beauty was SO overlooked by the greed of the White Man. I just don't understand it.
Thank you for posting this ,,the flute has and still is a much needed medicine for my soul..I found me when I discovered the flute and It was as Littleleaf R.Carlos Nakai..I dnt play would love to be able to what a release that would be for the spirit~someday ....
charles made a flute for me my grandmother bought, it has a bear influence. i dont know what key but it plays well. I am from warm springs so is my grandmother it is great to see a piece of home in a postive way.
bear is introspection and intuition...truth seeking..this is bear..like the truth in the sweetness of honey that the bear seeks, so does the truth of the music it breaths..
I find it so interesting that my ancestors, Scandinavians, have so many similarities in their native culture to Native Americans. Our music in particular, the flute and singing sound so much alike. And the sweatlodge -sauna. The singing to spirits -jojk. And the sacred drums. It's an honest culture I think.
The little leaf brings life from the big sun. It's true and we all must never forget that real music is for healing and getting in touch with the up above. Therefore we shall give the people what they need and not what they think they want.
I have a flute that Charles made and it is an amazing. I feel so honored to be able to have a flute of this quality. the white man didn´t know the word respect the sunflowers until wunka smashed it into his head.... I hope you fight and keep the spirit cuz the world can´t be without such beauty, I don´t care no more about materialism no more only spirit... I cannot appologize enough what we did to you back in time, we can´t but your big spirits can accept our apology... and thats the sign to who you listen to.... nothing can take that away from you, not even loss of those you love can do so....
Wow... that was fantastic! I think I heard him say more words in that video than in our whole lives in person, though. *lol* Way to go, Charles! Beautiful story!

i wish more people would be like you littleleaf
i wish more natives would have the courage
to keep their hair free, and honor their past.
greetings from finland.

if you talked to me like that I would say goodbye to the white man I am, I would never hurt you no more... ever...

the white man didn´t know the word respect the sunflowers until wunka smashed it into his head....

Very wise words from a very wise man. Thank you Charles for your journey on the Red Road. From one flute maker to another. Tugooven.

No sound reaches into my soul as reliably and directly as the Native American flute.

Wow... that was fantastic! I think I heard him say more words in that video than in our whole lives in person, though. *lol* Way to go, Charles! Beautiful story!
