I'm proud to say my father was a Narvakas and fought hard to save his beautiful beloved city from the Tiblad, but in vain. He would have been horrified that the government of a newly independent Eesti would then let the Russians keep Jaanilinn instead of insisting that the Tartu Leping be adhered to. International Court in the Hague be damned!
Narva is russian town, german or swedish, but not estonian, like the all country. Estonians didnt build anything, except villages. Estonia became an "undepended democracy country" from russian giving, so be thankfull, or we will coming back.

and speaking of narva - estonians already lived there 1000 years BC.
radio by popov, not marconi. lada original russian design, not italian. AK-47 100% soviet, nothing to do with STG44/MP44 at all. and steam engine was invented by a old russian train driver.

we all know this from 100% true russian history books.

don't try to argue with him .. it's pretty pointless .. his version of earth creation is:first there were russians .. they created earth and on third day they turned in lights ... etc
Almost all cities in Estonia appeared from the ancient Russian cities. Therefore, they have historical Russian names Tartu-Yuryev, Tallinn-Kolyvan, Pärnu-Perunov, Narva-Rugodiv, Otepää-Medvezhia Golova, Vändra-Vendora; Rakvere-Rakovor, Vaskarnava-Syrenets, Paldiski-Baltiiskiy Port (build russian tsar Peter)
narva - old estonian settlement+ barracks there. city founded by danes. name Narvia first used by danes.
Tartu - old estonian settlement (established year 600-800)+ barracks there. conquered by russians 1030. tartu as a city founded by crusaders 13th century.
Pärnu - no previos settlements there. city founded by crusaders 13. century.
Rakvere - estonian settlement and barracks 5-6th century. city founded by danes 13th century.
it's not true. It is false historical interpretations. It was thought up by modern еstonian "historian" M.Laar. Actually the city of Narva is based russians much more before arrival of danes, first historical name Rugodiv. About a city there is Rugodiv forest, there and the historical name has now remained.
Tartu (Yurjev) built russian knyaz Yroslav 1030 it 's considered official date of the basis. And it is written in all directories. in 1130 the tribe chud (estonians) has grasped Yuryev and has killed local residents. but russians 3 years later have raided and win back
About similar stories with other cities. russians towns have been destroyed by the German conquerors. On their places present cities have been constructed
It seems to be most of the people from post Soviet countries like Estonia still paranoyied about Russian invasion, comunists and stuff like that.Comunist party doesn't have any power anymore even in Russia as far as I know.Hopefully !!!! Or the spirit of Syberia is still in the air in Estonia?if so this is really silly.
Dear Sampolit(A comment with alot of respect)You should make more of those historically videos of Estonia, and citys that were destroyed by war...Respect all of those people who died in 1944 in battle of Narwa...Rest in Peace we will Never Forget you!
Russians will never change, they will change when they are dead and have been undergone those dreadly things like us back in time
Revenge is one of the pandemic of the present Baltic society. It swallows you up very quickly if you pursue after it. Yes, poor Estonians! It is already living in the dump with its nazi establishment.
Should blame USSR, then should also blame Britain, who bombarded without purpose Königsberg and Dresden. By the way, originally Narwa wasn't Estonian town. Many things Estonian culture refers to as if its own are not so at all! Yes, every war is brutal and you don't expect a quiet life in the midst of it. Stop pulling things out of context.
What a pity that time can't be turned back. It has been said that compared to Narva, the Old Town of Tallinn was small and boring. One of the pearls of Estonia was destroyed for ever.
I like it very much with the voice. It took me about 2mins to realize that this is not human voice but autoreaders voice, very good concept to get clear text voice without proffesional audio studio equipment.
Just little suggestion. Maybe add some Estonian classic music next time to vids about Estonia. :)
Sampolit, your films about Estonian History are absolutely wonderful. I hope you don't mind me linking some onto my blog, giving all credit to yourself, of course.
This is a great video, one of the best so far imo.
And the beatiful Narva is destroyed now, it used to be one of the prettiest citys by Baltic sea with Tallinn but now it's one of the ugliest because the russian liberators- they didn't built the old town up again- are you kidding? They cant build anything pretty- they only built ugly 6 storiest tall building which were grey and all the same. In 1935 there were about 95 % estonians, now its 96 % russians.

You can't blame the whole nation for what their superiors did 60 years ago...It would be same, as to say "fucking germans" or "fucking japanese". It would be just lame and narrow minded. We have to move on!
Yes you can, if the respective nation still haven't apologized for the genocide they committed against it's neighbouring states prior and after WWII (not only Baltics). If they teach their children a false history based on lies. If the mentioned country falsely still accuses others for "crimes" while itself won't even hear about own sins. If that country still to this day intervenes in the internal affairs of the smaller neighboring states using the colonists they left behind.
