As a newcomer to this style of playing -is this frailing or clawhammer?

As far as I know it's both. Frailing is a broader term for playing any stringed instrument with the back of your nails. This piece is also "drop-thumb" because the thumb doesn't just stick to the 5th string.

Best not think about it too much. Just get makin' some noise!
