  • thank you duke, short and sweet.

  • Hey PT, I did a lesson on this too at Vanderbilly. Your guitar rings nicely and the voicing is so much closer than my Taylor. You nailed some of the subtle nuances better and that takes it up to the next level! The only difference that I have because it doesn't sound so good on my guitar is, I also mute the D string on that descending progression as on my guitar some of the chords sound a little sick. Are you hitting the open D string on all those chords or is your index finger muting it? Thanks

  • @KP11520 I let the D ring, actually. It's part of the G chord, so it sounds just fine to me. But play it the way you think it sounds best. Always trust your own ears.

  • that is a beautiful guitar

  • @guitarmaniac927 Got lucky and found it comparatively cheap.

  • @privettricker Is that a Gibson?

  • @longnp1 Gibson Dove.

  • @privettricker It looks and sounds awesone, but very untypical Gibson - tons of clear mids and highs: what are its tops and back made of? What other acoustics do you play?

  • Nice work . The chord at 5:25 is an F9 and fits very nicely.

  • you sound like ferris bueller

  • @msdaniellazabala If that means I can hang with Sloane, then I'm OK with that.

  • marry mee!!! oh wait see you have a ring .

  • You have there a very nice and beautyfull guitar and its sound so awesome..... God bless your guitar, and you explained so easy... well done dud...! keep it on..

  • thanx... you are the master

  • Great lesson. I´ve always wanted to know these different shaped chords Frampton used in this song.

  • Thanks for this man! Very well explained! It helped a lot!

  • Thank you Privettricker! Helped me a bunch! :)

  • Do you think Peter got ideas for that intro from Macca's Blackbird? He uses the same shapes with the open B & G.

  • @surfjabroni ummm open G and D sorry, but the shapes are the same as that run in Blackbird?

  • Nice work, very simple tutorial. Thanks a bunch.

  • you give one of the best lessons on here. You only say what is needed and not a lot of flashy talk. Your not trying to impress but help. You deserve much credit bro. Peace from North Carolina.

  • I believe that is an Fadd9 chord at 5:20 :)

  • man what a sweet sounding guitar

  • perfect!

  • You're muting what?? 1:42 ,hey man I got short fingers XD ,I can't even touch the strings from that side ,darn my mom should when to bed with ET instead of my dad XD

Now seriously the best tutorial of this song so far

  • I love this song so much... so great to learn the proper chords at long last!!!

  • thanks fo this posting man....hop;e you wsere not on the laccrosse team...only kidding

  • Well done on the lesson!

  • Big thanks for the lesson! I'm having a hard time synchronizing everything together, with the singing and all,'cause i'm a beginner, but also a lot of fun in the process, probably 'cause i love the song,so thanks again :D

  • holy shit how much was that guitar

  • you are still the best teacher on web even if you do have a Dukeee shirt on, i can send you a Carolina shirt lol

  • @yobob270 Please go ahead and send the Carolina shirt. I can use it to clean up when the dog poops on the carpet. :)

  • good ol Acc fans

pull for their teams to the end lol

  • @privettricker can you give the rhythm pattern on the 2:38 chord? as in down up down. I can't fully get it!

  • @eskuAdradit0 I'm not sure of your question, but the strumming for all of those descending chords is the same.

  • @privettricker Yeah but I don't know if you could be so kind as to reply saying when to strum down, when to strum up and so on. (D=down, U=up) on the beginning.

I'm quite new to this and I love this song, but my rhythm and strumming doesn't seem to be as accurate as yours!

    Please?:)

  • why do us guitar players bite our fingernails so low lol

  • I used to have long nails, until one night during a gig I slid my pinky up the neck and the string got stuck under my nail -- ripped my whole nail off. Can't describe that pain, although I finished the gig! Since then, I've been ripping my nails off.

  • This helped. Nice job.

  • Kudos man, one of the best tutorials I've seen. Great song.

  • good lesson. well done !

  • really nice lesson. much appreciated amigo!

  • Awesome lesson man. I've always known the chorus to this but I've never bothered learning the rest. Thanks a bunch.

  • Gibson Dove's! whoo hooo! all about Tone..feel...and appearance!

  • Damn this guy sounds like Robby Krieger (The Doors)

  • the chord you didn't know at the time F7 but right after you played an A and then an E7 so i think you knew that

  • you are awwsmm dude-you must treat your wife good for her to let you buy all those guitars

  • What key is the piano solo? Amin?

  • @12stringsforme It would be G major.

  • You are so modest but really you are a great player and teacher. I love getting new uploads from you. Asa guitar player you can always learn a new lick or song from someone and you have already taught me a lot. Thanks.

  • Excellent, thank you. I got it!

  • F9

  • @narancor I keep hitting the F9 key on my keyboard and nothing happens. (Yes, that's a joke.)

  • I wasn't trying to be a smart ass. I looked it up on a chord chart program! It takes me a while to figure the names of some chords. I actually knew that particular one but checked it any way. I love your site. You play all the same songs and quite a few more that I want to learn. Keep 'em coming my man!

  • Thanks i have played it wrong for years,Thanks

  • So few people play this song correctly. It is good to see someone using the correct chords...

  • gracias

  • never realized the chords in the intro to this song are the same as the intro to Willin'

  • @billyv321 Yep, virtually identical.

  • Very revealing! But then again that's you----all will be revealed! Thanks PT!!

  • @andy65guitar Thank you, sir!

  • Sounds perfect. I love that song and I always thought it was in open G. I was wrong all this time. I used to play "Blackbird" in open G too until I learned the proper way. Great teaching for those like me who have some trouble recognizing chord phrasings. Thanks

  • You should do more lessons !! Great Job !!!

  • thank you =)

  • great lesson.........always wanted to learn this, but thought it would be too difficult.....love the changes.....Frampton is a very under-rated player in my opinion........you made it easy.........thanks for taking the time!

  • You rock, thanks for the lessons!

  • As always, thanks for the lesson.

  • As always, thanks for the lesson.

  • Great lesson! Thank you. What is the finale? It ends on G but what are the two chords prior?

    Thanks again.

PS One more vote for Undun by the Guess Who

  • @govmware Forgot about that part! It starts the same as the intro, and when you get to that 5th chord at C, you follow with A string 2nd fret/ B string 3rd fret, then open A string/B string at the 2nd fret, then finish on a G chord.

  • Framton comes alive a great album and a great lesson as usual thanks a lot

  • Great lesson. Thanks!

  • Great lesson. Thanks!

  • Thanks, man. Great job. I always wanted to learn how to play that song ... and now I know thanks to you.

    Btw, nice gee-tar.

  • Very nicely done. Thanks for taking the time for the lesson. Clear explanation. All the best. tmo7734.

  • That chord you were wondering about, I have always called that a 9th chord. Don't know if that helps. You give great lessons man, I really enjoy them.

  • That's an F9 chord (the one you couldn't name). Great job, as usual!

  • @swatprof I was never good with numbers. :)

  • Thank you! I have been playing the Em Bar now I know it's the E7 chord.. Thank you you are a great guitar player!!

  • gr8t lesson thank you I learn so much from your channel, that guitar is gd to follow up and down the neck with its fret markers.nice sounding also.
