  • With the country becoming more eco-aware, I think steam locomotives have a bright future, esp for us looking in the past to heal environmental damage which exists today to our environment. We are all entitled to our opinions and there are those who prefer to be in a negative state. You only need to stay true to your truth and optimism and just ignore them.

  • when will sp 4449 become aft 4449 again?

  • 4449: Well At Least Im Not Doing Another Crash Scene For A Tough Guys 2

  • I have the MTH AFT GS4 in G scale and they did this model very well, it look just like the real one on this video.. The GS4 is my favorite steam locomotive of all time, but I do love all steam locomotives, Not as much a diesel fan, but do like some electrics like the GG1... Great job on video

  • Great video!! And please stop feeding the troll that is Cockroach. When you respond to his comments, he gets a reaction which is exactly what he's looking for. Ignore him...end of story.

  • Don't mind him, cockroach is not only his namesake, but a frequent spammer of other railroad vids here saying the same thing, he just simply has no life and enjoys tormenting others and living up to his namesake.

  • Mr. Cockroach, shall we also burn down the Sistine Chapel or watercolor over the Mona Lisa?

  • cockroatch2008

  • Cockroach2008 backoff!!

  • From Portland to Michigan is a long excursion and 4 months is a long time to be away from home.

  • this was before it was brought back to southern pacific livery

  • It would be really cool if she was repainted into the AFT colors. But I've noticed that the 4449 hasn't gone out on a whole lot of "big exscursions" The only "big exscursions" she has done in the past few years (that I know of) were the double headers with the 844 and the 700 and the holiday exspress. I think that 4449 should go out on more "long distance" exscursions like she did in the 80s and 90s

  • 4449 WAS repainted into AFT colors in 2002, then back to Daylight in 2004. Compared to other steam locomotives, she's gone on some pretty big excursions since year 2000... BNSF employee special, number of runs to Bend, Stampede Pass, Montana, Seattle, countless times down the gorge... Now with the banking industry down, hopefully insurance will be lowered as well.

  • Oh ok I didn't know the 4449 went on so many exscursions since 2000. Also, I know she was repainted into AFT colors in 2002, I ment That I hope she's repainted sometime in the future.

  • The 4449 went to a trainfest in Michigan this summer, Left Portland on July 3 2009, and is coming back sometime late October.

  • Is this the only Daylight locomotive left? or are there others preserved?

  • with the way the economy is its to abd they cant afford to put her on frequent excursions and do these sort of things and this point in time...her heyday will rein again like it ahs for the past 67 years!

  • I really do love red white and blue and the reason for painting it that color, but honestly I much rather prefer the good ole SP Red and Orange more than that. BTW Cockroach are you crazy? 4449 is the most beautifully restored steamers out there, and is in great condition and care thanks to the hard working volunteers. your comment is an insult to those guys

  • Uh FYI, its the American Freedom Train.

How dare you say junk an American Icon.

  • Are you British?

  • Sometimes!

  • Your a Dick

  • Why thank you for the compliment.

I'm delighted that you agree that all steam locomotives shall be saved and preserved for future genorations.

I'm proud to hear you say the 4449 is beautiful and famous.

As part of a family of rail fans, we welcome you the chance to restore, preserve, and keep runnin' a peice of American History.

  • Suck my Dick you little Faggot.

    LONG LIVE 4449!!!!

She's my girlfriend, so I really don't appreciate you dising steam engines when you don't know all the facts.

  • Oh such mature choice of words from 60 year old.

  • Umm you do that, and the Friends of 4449 will sue your ass so god damned fast, your head will spin.

  • @Cockroach2008

You want a passenger train to wreck?

  • @Cockroach2008 Backoff bastard!

  • @Surfliner6908 No! I am here to stay!

This junker is destined for a bad day! Then we will all be happy!

  • @Cockroach2008 Eh, wrong! You aren't here to stay and out of all the locos in the US I'd say that 4449 has one of the most secure futures.=P

  • @Paraffinmeister I am here to stay! Believe it!

I would not bet on the security of this junk pile of a machine.

The destruction is about to begin! The Chinese collectors & Mexican cartels have placed a bounty for the parts!

It is the beginning of a VERY GOOD ending!

It is going to happen! Better get your crying towel out & make sure it is dry when you get the good news!

  • @Cockroach2008 No you aren't! Believe it!

Also, learn to accept the fact that nobody cares about what you have to say and everyone knows that it's all lies anyway.=P

  • @Paraffinmeister I am here to stay! I will not be going away any time soon! You believe it!

I am just posting my comments as YouTube invites. If anyone cares, that is their business. I am not concerned.

The steam locomotives are about to be taken apart! Believe it!

  • @Cockroach2008 No, you're trolling, stop it.

  • @Paraffinmeister Believe what you want to believe. Live your life with your head in the sand. It is a good way for you not to see what is happening to the steam locomotives.

I have considered your suggestion, giving it careful & deliberate consideration, but since it is the truth, I don't consider it as you do. I am here to stay.

The steam locomotives are going to the wrecking yard very soon!

  • @Paraffinmeister Believe whatever you want. You will know when it happens that it is true.

I have carefully considered you suggestion, given it deliberate consideration & once again decided against doing so.

It will be delightful when the steam locomotive is junked out & trashed!

  • @Cockroach2008 What have I told you about pretending to be smart, stop it, it doesn't suit you. Stop trolling and go away.=P

  • @Paraffinmeister No pretending here! I am smart! I know money when I see it & have my ear to the ground on what is happening in the world. Looks like the steam locomotives are on their way for some serious dismantling!

I am here to stay & not going to stop! Tough it up, sonny!

  • You can hear the flanges cutting into the rail head as it passes.

  • I might get SP 4449 in the AFT colors for my birthday.

That would be awesome if I did

  • Its just a blue version of the 4449...

  • Actually, it is the 4449, but painted to celebrate America's Bicentennial in 1979, and to remember those lost in 9/11.

  • i ride on my bike on teh spring water trail all the time great place.

  • so..what they did was paint 4449 in red white& blue then they painted it backwhen they where finished?

  • They didn't just paint it for this ride. But yes, they did paint it back

  • @4449steam Yep The People At The Heritage Society for Southern Pacific thought it would be good to paint it Red, White, And Blue again in memory of 9/11. Its currently doing tours and muesum events. Back in the original SP Daylight Colors

  • Pre 9/11/01, she was painted black for the BNSF employee apreciation special, then after that run, was painted into her War Baby black scheme. When the towers went down, she was painted back into her Bicentenial American Freedom Train color scheme to support America after 9/11. She is now in her AS Delivered "Southern Pacific Lines" Daylight scheme.

  • i got a 2 hour video special on the bnsf employ apreciation special

  • I always the Daylight scheme looked best on her.

  • @boeingLL747 in the 1970's, she was RW&B (red white and blue) for the all-state AMF, then in 2002, to honor the ones who died on 9/11, she was repainted to AMF colors, the BLACk version of her was for the BNSF employer reconition train, then she went back to her DAYLIGHT colors.

  • @ColumbiaAndHoodRiver i mean AFT for the AMF's, typos plague me

  • WoW! What a beauty!!!

  • I agree. One of the most beautiful locomotives out there on the rails!

  • One of the most beutiful locomotives ever in my oppinion.
