Logically, if this was a demo of the flight physics, the video's title would have been just "Gmod Helicopter". The inclusion of "Expression 2", and the long winded description, and the attached source code should have made evident that this was intended to demo the expression 2 language.

I've made no claims of quality in the actual construction of the program-controlled craft.

The craft isn't actually manually controlled. The Expression 2 programming causes it to "fetch" the chair plate and place it on the base plate. Show more on the video description and click the pastebin link for the full sourcecode of the EXP2 chip, which is what handles the z-target of the hoverballs.

I tried making one that worked on just the thrusters, but it looked like a drunk rubber duckie in a rolling ocean if you can see what i mean.

Thrusters on the bottom apply angular velocity, the hoverballs control the angle of the craft, and thus, which direction the acceleration is applied. See the attached sourcecode in the description.
