Light Yagami's philosophies are accurate in theory. Evil should be punished, even by death, but the issue is how extreme Light took it and that Light only considered his own definitions of evil. Real justice needs to be a group decision, not one person's laws. I'm sure Hitler and Stalin thought they were killing evil people too in their mass murder sprees.
That being said, Kira had the right idea until L died. Then he just went mad with power, like Macbeth.

Firts when I read the manga I hated Light for all the thing he did. But now I think that this is what the author of Death Note wanted to tell us. A person can´t kill people (that many) whithout changing. Light became crazy and evil. I realized it after looking throught the manga one more time. in the first manga light is drawn as a cute boy who smiles and laughts, but further in the manga you can´see that he slowly changes. Now I am thinkig "Poor Light. That book ruined his future T.T
Although Light was an awesome villan/protagonist/genius, he forgot that L could not link him to any of the murders physically! He wasted all that time evading him, when he could have figured out a number of ways to kill off criminals (no more heart attacks),kept his #1 enemy close L and stayed 3 moves ahead of him at all times, teach that dumb ass broad how to use her death note and not get caught and use her "shinigami eyes' to kill L when the time was right.
@merchant19 He didn't need to link him to any of the murders physically, the moment L was certain Light was Kira, especially considering he didn't know the method of killing till a long time in, he could have had Light executed, no judge, no jury.

Death Note is a masterpiece until L dies, after that it transforms into a good anime like Code Geass...but Code has a brilliant ending compared to Death Note's, which is kinda abrupt and not totally fitting.
Too bad there aren't that many animes with antagonists as main characters, or mind provoking as these.

I'm naturally not a very power hungry person and am willing to give my power away, but with something like the Death Note I'm not sure I'd be the same. But I certainly wouldn't be stupid enough to confront L or any other investigation team, I'd mask my identity as best I could for as long as I could. I'd probably be caught faster if I DID go face to face with L.

thats the glory of death note, in phelosophy speaking, who si to say that lights idea of justice is wrong or right, perhaps criminals should die, perhaps not. killing the evil was mankinds first from of justice, who is to say it was wrong. but that is wha tdeath note does, it makes a person side with light and think the way he does, the fact that he went mad is just futher proof that he is a currpotable human.

What I don't get is why they changed Light's name (in the manga his name is Raito... but then again, in the manga Ryuk's name is Ryuuku, & personally I like Ryuk better, so... xD)
@YumeYasuu Yes, the officially translated ENGLISH manga. But the Japanese says Raito & Ryuuku, & people who translate online sometimes use those names (I just found out that the local public library has them all so I can read them there ^^)

laght yagami wasnt evil, his descritpion of justice followed by that of the old times. you do something wrogn and your head would be chopped off, that si why people can relate to light very well. its notthat everyone secretly wants to kill old criminals, its that a sence of justice and punishment to people should follow that of suffering, as L himself once said, '' an eye for an eye ''. lights interpritation of justice was just an outdated form of justice used by people centuries ago.

@goth9ever His intentions were not good. Light was just trying to feed his own ego. He clearly has a god complex throughout the whole show; that actually ends up being his downfall. He didn't really want to make the world a good place with no evil. He just wanted to be in control and play 'god'. It heavily implies that in the show several times. Light did several bad things on a whim instead of actually doing it for the good of mankind.

Very nice vid. Hopefully you or any other real deathnote fan can help me with a problem. I'm looking for a theme played in deathnote. It's not played often but it really is an awesome tune. It's featured in the "Matsuda" episode. Just after matsuda gets misa signed with the Yotsuba group. the music plays all the way through until the apartment scene. PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT THAT SONG IS?

thats the glory of death note, in phelosophy speaking, who si to say that lights idea of justice is wrong or right, perhaps criminals should die, perhaps not. killing the evil was mankinds first from of justice, who is to say it was wrong. but that is wha tdeath note does, it makes a person side with light and think the way he does, the fact that he went mad is just futher proof that he is a currpotable human.

What I don't get is why they changed Light's name (in the manga his name is Raito... but then again, in the manga Ryuk's name is Ryuuku, & personally I like Ryuk better, so... xD)

But yeah, it irritates me too when people write Raito instead of Light. I've seen it in a lot of fanfics x3

@YumeYasuu Yes, the officially translated ENGLISH manga. But the Japanese says Raito & Ryuuku, & people who translate online sometimes use those names (I just found out that the local public library has them all so I can read them there ^^)

laght yagami wasnt evil, his descritpion of justice followed by that of the old times. you do something wrogn and your head would be chopped off, that si why people can relate to light very well. its notthat everyone secretly wants to kill old criminals, its that a sence of justice and punishment to people should follow that of suffering, as L himself once said, '' an eye for an eye ''. lights interpritation of justice was just an outdated form of justice used by people centuries ago.

@FlamingDaemon no, sometimes a human cannot be reasoned with, the majority of evil live souly for the concept of chaos and deserved to be killed. also, light constantly faced opposition and yes, the familys of those criminals would be hurt but destroying their lives is a bit of an exageration, besides, creatingh appyness wasnt lights goal, creating a worldo f peace with no evil was, weather people find happyness out of that si theirp roblem, and the majority would.

@FlamingDaemon of corse he couldnt have achoived his goal without the deathnote, thats the point of the anime. and yes, killing and terms can be considered evil, butl ight said that at the beginning of the anime, ''even if have have to sacrifice my mind and soul its worth it, becuase the world cant go no like this''. light did not go insane, the stress of constantly almost being caught probably, lets say strained him for his orgional resolve, but he stayed true to his cause. light became justice

@goth9ever His intentions were not good. Light was just trying to feed his own ego. He clearly has a god complex throughout the whole show; that actually ends up being his downfall. He didn't really want to make the world a good place with no evil. He just wanted to be in control and play 'god'. It heavily implies that in the show several times. Light did several bad things on a whim instead of actually doing it for the good of mankind.

La justice avant tout, décide de l'avenir de l'accusé aux yeux de la communauté. Elle a le destin d'un citoyen entre les mains. De sa décision libre et impartiale dépend la culpabilité ou l'innocence prouvée de l'accusé. Elle est là pour faire éclater une vérité, une vérité. Very nice vid. Hopefully you or any other real deathnote fan can help me with a problem. I'm looking for a theme played in deathnote. It's not played often but it really is an awesome tune. It's featured in the "Matsuda" episode. Just after matsuda gets misa signed with the Yotsuba group. the music plays all the way through until the apartment scene. PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT THAT SONG IS?
