There were at least 3 groups from the late 1960's with this name.
The first group was based in the Washington, DC area, or in the Southeast, most likely DC. This is the group that worked with Ray Whitley and did that wonderful song, "Backwards and Forwards". The label was World Pacific. Some other songs of theirs posted on Youtube are not on the World Pacific label, but Ray Whitley always was involved.
Ray Whitley produced and arranged for this group and wrote "Backwards and Forwards.

The backing vocals and guitar sound is very nice. I even like the tinny mono-recording sound. The line towards the end about wanting a "16-year old woman" is a real surprise--oh well, it was probably done 20-year olds for 18-year olds to listen to. What a sound, but why does the record in the picture have a song title, "Mitch's High"?
The Cherry People were originally the English Setters, not December's Children. Before becoming the Cherry People, the English Setters had one single played on local radio very briefly, "Wake Up".

Also, this group may have been the forerunner of the Cherry People, who had a national hit called "And Suddenly". I know they were a DC-area band who had a few records out under another name before becoming the Cherry People. But I don't recall if the earlier name was December's Children or something else.
If this is the same December's Children group I knew of, they were from the Washington, DC, area. But like a lot of DC-area combos, they had trouble getting airplay even in their hometown! I remember that another song by this group, "Backwards & Forwards", did get some local airplay. The instrumental backing of this one reminds me of that one, which makes me think it could be the same group. If the other side of this one turns out to be "Backwards & Forwards", can you please upload it, too?
