Did you ever try the Eminence 12" Delta Pro with this amp? It has a heavy magnet structure but I've been using these for years and they're definitely worth the weight you have to put up with. A good example of use for the Delta would be to tame down the buzzy sounding distortion with an Egnater Renegade 65. Very meaty tone with my 72 Marshall, it puts out. I have one in a Peavy Bandit 65 and it rounds out the sound while my other 65 has a Vintage 30 in it which sounds more opened or airy.
Great playing!! And literally every Fargen demo I hear makes me want one of his amps. Olde 800 is on my short list. Thanks so much for the excellent demo.
A Fargen is definitely on my dream list of amps. I think is one of the top cats out there, he most def deserves more credit than he gets. If you guys haven't had the chance to plug into one of his amps do so, your guitar will thank you for it.
A minute thirty of listening to you do this demo is worth a half hour of most of the other demos on youtube... brilliant! Incredible amp, incredible playing.
I used 1.5 VC with paper former (not nomex) like used in the p12n speaker + british cone + 50oz. magnet = to me it is real natural sounding. I recone speakers as a hobby. I try different combinations all the time and this happens to be one that I like. It is my 1st attempt to get the pre-rola 20watt greenback sound with 1.5 VC because a 1.75 VC with paper former isn't available. It dosn't sound like a 20Watt greenback but I still like it.
I installed lollar low wind pickups in it. I found that with lower output pickups I can go from clean to mean easier. This amp has plenty of gain so I still have more than enough overdrive with the low output pickups. THanks!
Ben can custom voice one to sound however you like. This amp a fair amount of compression/sustain, easy for solos! I have a dual classic with a custom voiced channel like this except with less preamp distortion, more punch. When I crank it up, it is a real monster! I usually share the speaker with a dummy load so I can dime it. I'm glad you like the clip.
Awesome. Please do some more vids for this amp. I seriously wanna buy one, but for some reason there is a lack of sound clips on the web for them. How would you compare the olde 800 with a late 70s jmp (master volume) as far as tone & volume. Also, hows the headroom and overall volume. Is it or can it be a monster sounding amp?
whats the song you are playing?

That sounds amazing. One of the best low-mid gain tones I've heard in a while.

@rtaylo30 Wouldn't u be able to dime it anyways since its 25 watts? If I were to run this thru a 4x12 it would be plenty loud enough, right?

The echo is from a protools plug-in. I added it to give it some space. I could even make it sound better if I added some eq.
rtaylo30 3 years ago
You forgot the added echo, you can't miss that (1:18) ... you should mention that, it still changes the sound even if added after the fact.

Thanks! I plugged straight in. Fargen amps are real natural and smooth sounding.
