  • Get RosettaStone for free!

    W::W:::W::ROSETTASTONEFORFREE..INFO

    100% working,easy install,FREE to download!

Do not spend hundreads of dollars if you can download easily!

    American-Brittish english,Spanish,Italian,French,German,Japanese,Russian,

    Chinese,Russian!

  • I have been using Rosetta Stone to learn Korean, ranked as one of the hardest languages to learn form English, and it works for me pretty well. However, my brother and father have both tried to use it and failed miserably. I think it just works really well or doesnt work at all depending on who you are.

  • Rosetta Stone tries to teach you grammar by osmosis. They do not explain grammatical principles outright and expect you to divine it through repetition. That method only serves to CONFUSE the student because they do not understand why the words are changing forms. (Russian)

  • Hola. Me llamo Shawn. Vivo en West Virginia. Me gusta tocar la guitarra. ¿Como te llamo? ¿Como estas? Ella bebe leche. Mi esposa es hermosa. There, I mastered Rosetta Stone Spanish. Too bad that I really can't have a real conversation with anyone in Spanish that is actually worth a damn.

  • i did the pimsleur russian this morning and it is extremely effective. im coupling it with a website that offers free russian lessons. it is basically the same as pimsleur but in text. so im learning to speak, read, and write russian at the same time

  • I dnt see y everyone is gettin so upset he is spot on i've used both and I hav to say pimsleur is far more effective after 30 minutes I was able to say whole sentences and remember them rosetta stone involves to much guess work and room for error u cannot learn a new language the way you learned your first because when you learned ur first language u had no language to begin with I agree that rosetta stone can b useful when used with other methods ideally pimsleur im learnin japanese by the way

  • but the point is to simulate learning the language the way you learned english right? So that ur thinking the language to speak it instead of thinking in english, translating in ur head and then speaking. gotta activate ur right brain for it to be effective. so yes, left brain thinkers beware rosetta stone!

  • @morewaysthanone That may be the intention, but learning a first language is very inefficient and takes many years. Once you have a language, it can guide you to mastery. "The queen has only 6 more months to live if medicine for the disease cannot be found." is a little bit easier to express in one's native language than in a picture, for example.

And yes, I am left brain ;)

  • I think I figured out you problem..you're retarded. I personally learn best visually and the pictures aren't like trying to crack a code..it seems that if you have half a brain you will connect the dots just fine. It makes you work and that's why it's above everything else. Some people say after the 5th lesson you will be thinking in the language and then you saying you hate it. Don't discourage people from using a software that clearly does what it claims it does.

  • @IIISkoalMint I am recommending people use Pimsleur, Fluenz and Barron's Diplomatic instead since these in my experience work better.

  • i don't know. I took german in school and the biggest problem is I can read German and translate it in my head instantly, but not the other way. I think about what I want to say in english, i have to translate it, and then spit it back. What Rosetta stone does is teach you the idiomatic way to say things(even if its wrong like the german CD) which could be useful.

  • Do you have a fan stuck in your throat?

  • I like Rosetta stone but I think mm learning the language from scratch is hard but if you have previous language and go into high levels of Rosetta stone then it's good not to mention you can up the difficultly to which if you don't pronounce it almost 100% it won't accept it. I like rosetta stone and I also like the other programms you mentioned.

  • You should have titled this video I HATE ROSETTA STONE?

  • lol

  • Is it possible to learn a language then take a test outside of high school and it still count as 2 credits towards college? I want to learn German instead of French or Spanish, but my school doesn't teach German, some one help

  • @Disturbed58585858 That depends on the university. At my university, I was able to take French 3, and then assuming I got an A or B, I could apply to get credit for the years 1 and 2 courses. (But I still had to pay)

  • @Disturbed58585858 I'm a Spanish teacher, currently taking a german class. The only way to learn is to actually take a class taught ONLY in the target language where everyone is required to ONLY speak that language; because this is REAL and applicable to life. It's the only way to learn how to express a thought without even thinking or using english. In the real world you wont have a sheet of paper with fill in the blanks, you'll have to do it yourself.

  • @pinkliz06

I studied French in college with "French in Action", and it's conducted entirely in French. You know what? It's a terrible, frustrating, inefficient way to learn. You're never allowed to consult the dictionary in FIA; therefore, with little there to help you, you just have to guess at the meanings of words and sentences, spending a lot of time doing so and quite often ending up with only a vague or even completely incorrect understanding of the meanings. So much time is wasted.

  • @pinkliz06

For some bizarre, idiotic reason, people think "the natural way"--the child's way--of learning languages is the best way--i.e., the total immersion way. BULLSHIT. This way does work, but consider how much TIME it actually takes. A child born and raised in the United States certainly will achieve fluency in English through total immersion, but only after THOUSANDS, or TENS OF THOUSANDS of hours of exposure to and practice with English. Sounds pretty damn inefficient to me.

  • @profd65

OK, you try lecturing the kid to speak English.

See how well that works. Not at all actually.

They're learning as fast as possible with the resources they have!

  • You left your Caps lock on

  • What software would you recommend for German and Russian or is what you mentioned in your video your favorite?

  • @TheLycanjake1 For German use Pimsleur First, then Barron's Diplomatic Series Mastering German audio + book. For Russian I suggest Pimsleur and supplement with BYKI (Before You Know It) flash card application.

  • @godshiva Thanks. I'll try to find the Barron's Diplomatic series. I'd really like to perfect my German. Native German speakers are telling me I should spend an extended amount of time in a German-speaking country, but I don't have the money for that.

  • ok I think I get what your saying...it may be the same thing I've had trouble with...for instance the photo is of a girl eating ice cream. her mouth is open wide. They say the word and then I'm supposed to know what they mean. BUT are they looking for EATING? Ice Cream? Mouth? Hungry?

  • You should get the rosseta stone grooming set. Shave the dirt off your face and wash your hair!! No one gives a flying fuk about why you don't like it!!

  • your supposed to record videos with a god damn camera not a fucking brick

  • @lheid4 it's probably a webcam vid, it doesn't make HD like videos..

  • I'm an actual linguist and I have tried Rosetta Stone to see what the fuss is all about. It really does suck! You just repeat things and don't learn ANYTHING from it.

  • @TheEmpowered787 Thank you :)

  • Rosetta stone is working well with me so far. One big issue is that, at least so far, it hasnt had me actually write in japanese. I dont plan on writing right away but it is something I plan on eventually learning, so I picked up a cheap notebook to go along with the program. It also has an online feature I havent used yet that allows you to chat with tutors and other people online that are learning your language which im looking forward to. I'm going to stick with RS and see how it goes =p

  • You just saved me $600. I'll be trying out the Pimsleur German audio course at my local library before buying it.

  • @MrUnidyne Awesome! Hey, I hope it works for you!! If you finish all 90 lessons and still want to proceed further, I suggest getting Mastering German, with book and CD's (part of the Barron's Diplomatic Series) after you are done.

  • @MrUnidyne pimsleur is teaching me german. so far its awesome.

msg me and i have some tips if you want them

  • well, rosetta stone hates you!

  • Also, Rosetta Stone is definitely more of a visual learner's way of learning. You can't call it bad just because you learn stuff differently. You learn through auditory means, while I prefer something more visual. So of course you would have an easier time with Pimsleur (which is a great program, but only if you want to speak it. Trying to learn to read and write isn't great with Pimsleur.), while I would do better with Rosetta Stone. That doesn't mean that one is better than the other.

  • Pimsleur is good and all, but, I had the Russian version, and there's no text with it. All I can learn is to speak it? What if I'm trying to write or read something? There's no help there. It's great if you're just trying to get down some simple conversation, but not very helpful if you're actually going to the country and need to be able to read or write something.

  • I HATE 240p

  • Im multilingual, and I learned a lot by myself, and now i going to use rosetta stone.

Everything that is a plus, is a profit.

  • maybe your just too dumb and impatient to learn a language on your own.

  • @ArtemKonstantinovich Yes maybe 'my' just too dumb. But I did somehow learn Spanish, French and some Japanese.

  • @godshiva unbelievable, you are a smart guy, learning "all" those languages.

  • @Greg09480 LOL I didn't learn "all" there is to know. But in idle time over many years you can learn anything, if you put your mind to it. All it takes to learn a foreign language is an efficient tool, time and dedication.

  • @godshiva Well, thats fint because you have much experience then. I also like to learn foreign languages and I do so. I hope that Rosetta Stone will help me to improve, but I also will use normal books.

  • @ArtemKonstantinovich Start your sentences with a capital. *You're(conjugation of "you are"), as in "You're the dumb ass here". Before calling someone dumb, make sure your post is perfect, or you'll end up being schooled yourself.

  • @greenheart49

English is not my first language. I think I'm allowed to make little insignificant mistakes.

  • dude i learned german in 3 months. i went to germany after taking the 5 levels to take a class for a month and i was better at speaking than people who had been studying for 2-3 years; however, i had/have no grammer skills whatsoever, which is why i went to germany. anyways rosetta stone kicks ass, just don't expect to pick up on grammer. the people won't care though as long as they can understand you, while oin germany i made some awesome friends and that is thanks to this program.

  • You are a deceitful person who is just showing of and boasting about how good the other language learning systems are, without giving any substantial evidence for this whatsoever.

  • @legaata Deceitful? Is that to imply you think I have some sort of agenda?

  • If Rosetta Stone is so bad, why do you think it is used by US diplomats to learn foreign languages?

  • i dont hate rororosesesettatatataaataa stone hate yu bitch pendew

  • @lizhuk LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL. Oh my God! Aaaaaahahahaha! Dude, I'm high as fuck and your comment made me die laughing. Thank you.

  • downloaded RS cracked version= WIN

  • fluenz is good im using it <3

  • why do you translate a picture into English first

    Eliminate your native language!

  • LMAO! DudeIi learned english with Rosetta Stone and I'm happy with the results. I guess you're just too dumb for it.

  • For me, It's really fun and it's like you're playing a puzzle game. You won't appreciate it at first I guessed, But as you go along, You'll LOVE IT!!! It's kinda expensive but it's worth it. I can't think of other method to learn foreign language, when I found Rosetta Stone and tried it myself, I thought, This is perfect!

  • @mrcoffeeprince24 Can i ask you or anybody else who would like to answer this for me.. But if i was to buy rosseta stone can i upload material onto my ipod to listen and learn as i go???

  • @tankergavob You can do that with BYKI (Before You Know It) :)

  • I understand that rosetta stone doesn't work some people, we don't have same level of understanding that's why other people are hating it. As I have already experienced using this Rosetta Stone, I was become addicted to it, lol. You don't need to memorize every Phrase, you might get bored sometimes because they keep on repeating those phrases because rosetta stone wants the students to fully understand the language, it's like instilling the language into your brain and dwells there forever.

  • I am amazed by all the angry responses defending the product. Marketing 101 right here. You are defending it though I'm pretty confident not one of you have actually completed it. I will tell you from personal experience that it is VERY over-hyped. It simply does NOT have the content to bring someone anyone near fluency, regardless of the methodology. Its way of teaching may work for you, but you leave with such a limited vocabulary and a very limited understanding of the language I assure you.

  • Let's see, the multibillion dollar company telling us to buy a product, vs. a stupid hick redneck in 240p telling us it sucks. Well, since I have actually used the program and have personal experience with it, I am going to go with the multibillion dollar company. Get off the internet and stop hating on things because you are jealous.

  • @Jackx598 Jealous? Jealous of what? I am only interested in studying languages. If you think multibillion dollar corporations have more incentive to be honest about their products than people with no vested financial interest, then you are somewhat disillusioned methinks. You found Rosetta Stone more usable than Pimsleur or Barron's Diplomatic series? That's great! I'm glad you found something that worked for you. LOL

  • @godshiva Don't worry, I'm just a troll.

  • @Jackx598 LOL :) The "honest about it" troll . . . I'm still not quite used to it

  • @godshiva =) Trolling is a fun hobbie when I get bored lol.

  • @Jackx598 What an Ad Hominem attack, and it's his right to have an opinion as someone who has also used the program. Besides, just because a business makes billions of dollars isn't good reason to buy a program, you could just be suckered into lining other peoples pockets while not getting a good education, or maybe you work for Rosetta Stone.

  • @Jackx598

Oh look, ad hominem bullshit. If you're going to oppose this fellow's video, then present some opinions, and some reasons for those opinions. Hell, even present some facts. Also, you obviously don't know about "hick rednecks", as a hick redneck would have a heavy southern drawl on his english. This guy doesn't sound like he's from the deep south. Like I said, ad hominem drivel.

  • press 4 and it sounds like he's trying to solve a jigsaw puzzle

  • I'm sorry it didn't work for you. I quess it just isn't for everyone. It works wonders for me, don't get me wrong. I've found it more effective than ANY other method, for me at least. But I'm sorry it doesn't work for you. :(

  • @aabceacba If we're both happy then there is nothing to ":(" about ;)

  • beautiful HD

  • @WinterizedGhillie LOL always a pleasure ;)

  • I'm not entirely sure why he has so many dislikes, He gave points on how its both good and bad, and even stressed that it was HIS oppinion that it doesnt work for HIM. so.... why is it.. that so many people are being negitive? Its very true. you shouldnt assume there is only one way of learning a language. try it, try it with another product, and try finding a person who is fluent in that language. The internet makes it possible for people to do anything if they TRY.

  • I really love Rosetta Stone. I'm really learning from it. You don"t need to have a translation because it doesn't help you. You must think in French for example, and pictures are of great help, that's why there are no translations, because rosetta stone wants the students to learn without translation but to visualize them. I'm on my Level 5 of my French lesson, I can read, write or compose a sentence without translating, because I'm visualizing it. Rosetta Stone is VERY EFFECTIVE.

  • @mrcoffeeprince24 Please note that everybody has their own best method of learning. While rosetta stone may be very effective for you, it may not be as effective for others.

  • @mrcoffeeprince24 hey Im thinking about buying the Rosetta Stone French package myself because it seems like it's a good product but I was wondering if you can truly say, from your experience with the software, if RS has truly given you a noticeable boost in understanding the French language? Can you have an in depth convo with someone other than the usual "how are you?" "what's your name?" "Im fine, thanks"? Just wanted to get your opinion before buying it-

  • i agree, im doing a spanish class now, and it is the same way. it would be nice to have the english support so can relate to it. my book is all spanish except for the online part of the class to tell me my assgnments etc. at this point i use google to translate the book to do my assignments which is time consuming.

  • @jh3835 AND probably defeats the purpose ;)

  • Thank you~

I never heard of the Pimsleur. But I think that it would be useful to use both programs.

  • I was wondering becasue i want to do this so bad and i am 13 so i wanted to know your opinion on Rosetta Stone and if i should get it becasue i want to learn Japanese because i love manga and anime and i really want to get it but all these videos about not to get it is really putting me down so help me!

  • @UchihaGrand Uchiha san! If you want to learn Japanese, do whatever you can. Even if Rosetta Stone is not idea, it is certainly better than doing nothing. Don't let some fat Youtuber discourage you from studying a foreign language. I suggest Pimsleur and Before You Know It (BYKI), but if it's Rosetta Stone or nothing, then go for it!

  • @godshiva thanks i'll look up the others but i might just stick with Rosetta Stone because alot of people i heard from said they liked it

  • @UchihaGrand torrent it. You loseno monry

  • thanks for the review. i've seen a couple of reviews on youtube that have said the same thing. my problem with learning spanish is, i am constantly thinking in english like you said. i've spent thousands of dollars on books and tuition, lets not mention how many hours i've invested in these classes as well...only to come to a road block which is, i want to speak, read, and write in the english way, using spanish words, if that makes sense. obviously, this does not work. i will check pimsleur out

  • rosetta stone is awesome very helpful software :)

  • Geez dude, ...ok, mayB there's a hump 2 get over, in getting the hang of their way of presentation. I have reason 2 dislike RS, but your arg's R arguably weak. association with a picture is the same method basically as U used in learning your native tongue, seeing the things around you and saying. My problem is the program freezes on me & their tech support doesn't seem altogether adept at solving the problem, given that i get better suggestions from a tech-minded friend, who's not in that biz

  • Since my last comment early this year, I finished 3 levels of Totale Italian and started watching Rai News on TV, and now can say that I understand Italian completely. The can't wait to go to Italy and start in terracing with native speakers. I also started French, and I am near the end of Level 5. French is more difficult for me, but I am making good progress. Of course a spanish speaker, these are easy language. But Kudos to RS! Great product, great idea!

  • master race torrent user here

  • You are gross, take a bath.

  • The sailor asked the pirate why there was a steering wheel coming out of his pants. the Pirate said: Arrg! Its drivin me nuts

  • @godshiva

I extremely effectively used RS by using a program called Audio HiJack to get the system sound the application was producing from the Core Exercises of Each Lesson. Name the mp3s (01,02..) in order. They perfectly match with the course contents PDF. I do rosetta stone 90% from my iPhone on the train (with international keyboard for transcribing!).

  • @etfometit So you used it effectively as a flashcard program. I did a similar thing using the audio flashcards that came with the purchased version of BYKI,

I'm glad it worked for you

  • shut up gayer version of peter griffin

  • booooo

  • Rosetta stone + Friends of the native language

    Best formula.

  • Multiple Products are the best idea if you truely learning without country immersion and no one to help you. For me i just use rosetta stone (german) And to very awesome friends whose native language are german (and their practically fluent in english aswell). So it works out very well cause i can just consult them whenever i need an explanation on something for when rosetta randomly throws something at me. This approach has been very successful for me, and i havent been stumped yet.

  • @JosephMorganFPS Yeah, you can't ever expect to get everything out of one method. Read some books, watch some movies, buy a textbook, use an audio program, buy a software program, stick with it daily. And of course, travel to the country of interest and stay there as long as you can. (Haven't finished listening to your rant, godshiva. I'm just responding to JosephMorgan) :)

  • I'm still leaning towards trying Rosetta stone, mostly because I am an extremely visual learner. I'm a bit dyslexic, reading English is hard enough for me. I want to thank you for this video though because you weren't just ranting, you gave legitimate pros and cons for the program. I plan to used Rosetta stone as a spring board into language learning. After completing the course I will continue using other resources. Since I do have trouble with textbooks, I think RS will help me get started.

  • @MirandaTurpin Good luck to you!

  • plz a get a mic

  • @blacklanternz My later videos have much better quality - I now use a camcorder.

  • epic neckbeard rage

  • why do people buy stuff when they can get it for free on the internet?

if you spend 20 minutes a day on ANYTHING (piano, guitar, languages, chemistry, splitting the atom) you will master it in a few years or less.

  • cry baby

  • @kianta456 ... I am a cry baby for preferring specific language products?

  • @godshiva Yes You Are...while everyone's enjoying it, you're crying like a baby..

  • @pinoytruthseeker I realize you are probably just trolling - but if you legitimately disagree with my claims that Pimsleur or Barron's Diplomatic series are superior to Rosetta Stone - why don't you present a counter argument?

It is my ultimate goal to design language learning products. This requires an objective view of existing products and identifying ways they are strong and weak. I wouldn't expect you to understand, this is the opposite of calling someone names for disagreeing with you.

  • Comment removed

  • Respond to this video... i guess you're too blind to see what the others are enjoying..its a big disgrace to post such vids, instead of me posting counter videos for you, why don't you start promoting your own video? you truly believe that what you might accomplish in the future can satisfy everyone who's seeking for the real spirit of teaching languages? i doubt it.. there will be another you, an unsatisfied guy who disclaim the goodness of what the other might enjoying.

  • Take a shower

  • Just because you have a filling in you head and therefore incapable of learning languages - especially by Rosetta Stone which is a very easy way - doesn't make the product bad.

I know 4 languages and just started my 5th I know something about learning languages - Rosetta Stone is good it's just obviously not enough. But you've got to have something to start from. Even ONE BOOK is just enough for a head start Rosetta Stone is good too.

  • I dont listen to people in 240p

  • @MichiganHerpss LOL :)

  • Look man, learning languages IS difficult..... I am 15 years old and I have tought MYSELF 4 other languages..... one of them is japanese./. I have been selfstudying since I was young. I didn't have the opportunity to get something like rosetta stone, because my parents never supported my linguism. Basically, what I'm saying, is that learning languages takes many hours of hard work. People soo many of those hours bitching bout which is the best way to learn...

  • @JOSEDIEGO0569 I assure you I have spent many more hours in my life studying languages than "bitching about the best way to learn" :) And if you intend on studying a language for many hours, why WOULDN'T you want the best possible product. I have used half a dozen language learning products, including trying Rosetta Stone. You have not used Rosetta Stone but are convinced it is the best and mad at me for saying otherwise? Does this really make sense to you?

  • @godshiva nono.. you must have misunderstood. I am not mad at anybody. Nor do I think rosetta stone is the best product.. I wasn't saying that.. I was just simply saying that you shouldn't spend alot of time worrying about this and that... when it comes down to it you're NOT going to learn a language without it being difficult. No matter how you learn, it will always be difficult. people tend to try to "get out" of the difficulty of learning another langauge. It seems as if you're trying to do t

  • @godshiva that in this video.. I may be wrong though... but look, I'm not trying to be mean or anything. peace brother.:D nothing but peace. I admire the fact that youre even learning a foreign language.

  • @JOSEDIEGO0569 No, you haven't, retard. I'm sure you've learned enough words to "wow" your high school friends. However, I'm sure if you ever had a conversation with someone else in one of your "supposed 4 languages" then you'd fail miserably.

PS - The word is 'taught', moron. We'll ignore the rest of your mistakes.

  • @kcor4 whoa whoa pal..... I am not trying to be hostile at all. After all, this is just the internet, isn't it? BTW, do you know my life? no. Do you know the events that have taken place in my life? no. I have friends that I can speak to every single day in each of the four foreign languages that I speak. I practice everyday. I love it very much! You don't know me so how can you possibly even judge me? I just want to have peace with everyone, and fighting over the net is just stupid.

  • If you don't know what the word means, can't you just do a quick Google Translate search?

  • Oh, and btw, the idea is not that you translate it into english. Total emersion means that you think of the image in the language, not tanslate it first. Eg. a picture of a little boy drinking should be "il bambino beve" in Italian. You don't say in your head "the little boy drinks: il bambino beve" you are just supposed to say it in the language. It's supposed to be like when you are a child and you learn your first language (native language) by work association with the item/image. USER ERROR.

  • I learned more in 2 hours of using Rosetta Stone than I did in a whole school year of Spanish classes. There are multiple ways to use Rosetta Stone. Maybe it's User error on your part. Just because you can't tell the difference between a little boy drinking something, and a group of boys drinking something isn't Rosetta Stone's fault. Maybe you need to go back to school, and re-learn what a picture means. Again I say, user error.

  • NIGGA GET DAT CAMERA OUT CHO FACE, SON. SHIT.

  • Isn't rosetta stone designed for children?

  • @vincentizghra No. It is marketted for people of all ages to try to emulate child like learning.

  • @godshiva Hm, alright. Well the entire series is pretty much bizarre considering what it's supposed to cover. It's a pretty good idea, but horribly executed.

  • @vincentizghra I am not opposed to immersion "drilling" or even immersion instruction. For example, Dr Capretz's video french language instruction is superb, though I still think it is a good supplement rather than primary source of material.

  • i didnt know hair grew at the front of necks till i saw this.

  • of course its hard and time consuming

  • Neckberd,Thats fuckin hilarious...Can't stop laughing.

  • Rosetta Stone v. Neckbeard, Sunday! Sunday! Sunday!

  • lol shave that neck please.

  • you are just stupid thats all

  • @69KiRa Yup, that's it :)

  • From my experience with Rosetta Stone, I'd say that it's more of a tool for practicing the language, not actually learning it as it does not teach you the very basics of grammar or sentence structure of that language.

  • I hate Rosetta stone, that's why I hired chuck norris and believe me, I learned. lol Xp

  • not true, iv been doing japanese on this program and alot of it comes to me naturally :/ alot if it is really easy, even starting to memories symbols

  • LOL ... I use google translator with it. Only sometimes though. Just to avoid punching my screen in the beginning of the lesson.

  • Thanks for the insights!

  • I'm learning Korean and I have RS lv1-3 and I agree with you! I wish I could return it but it's been too long. As an absolute beginner, I couldn't use it because the pictures were so unclear. After learning from other sources, I went back to it and got through level 1 in a month without being able to form my own sentence and learning hardly anything. And it's extremely boring and repetitive. I scarcely use it now, I favor textbooks and audio sources like podcasts and pimsleur which actually

  • cont.. explain instead of leaving me guessing. RS pretends that you learn without your native language. In reality, you use your native language even more to try and figure out what the heck is going on in the pictures. RS Korean was exceptionally bad in teaching grammar in a way that makes sense. I could spend 2 hours getting through a tiny section of RS and not understand the grammar they try to introduce, when my textbook teaches 3 grammar points that I learn/understand in under an hour.

  • cont... I don't deny that some people may learn some from RS, we all learn differently. I haven't seen anyone use RS Korean *alone* successfully from the start though. People act like RS is the easy way to learn, but in my opinion it's one of the most difficult and frustrating ways, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. It's popular in the USA more-so than most other countries because people here have no idea how to learn a foreign language, and "learning like a baby" with RS seems like gold.

  • @lindafay1 Thanks for the comments! I get tons of comments from people who have never used any language learning product, or that have only used Rosetta Stone telling me that I am "dumb" and other trolling comments. It's nice to hear someone who tried RS first and then went on to another product, because that is something I had never tried.

  • @godshiva Sorry for the delayed response. Part of the reason for my comment was I saw all of the negative comments toward you. It's irritating for me when I express my opinion on a language learning product, only to be told I'm wrong by people who aren't even advanced in their target language. I used RS yesterday for review and was surprised at how easy it was to understand, now that I learned the ㄹ/을 거예요 structure for future tense from a podcast. RS doesn't explain grammar well enough for me.

  • And again I will clarify, it might work for some people, but that doesn't make my (or your) opinion invalid or wrong ^^ As for me using RS yesterday, I rarely do that [once every 3 weeks MAYBE]. I'm trying to do 2 hours of studying per day and RS is one of the things I decided I might do if I'm just shy of 2 hours, because it's easier than starting a new section in a textbook. I don't really consider RS helpful for learning, just slightly decent for reviewing.

  • Learning another language is easier if you know another language prior to it other than English. I think English speakers are too arrogant about their own language because they believe they can speak it better than foreigners. I completely disagree, foreigners can speak English better than half the nation. The simply aspect of most other languages deal with formal and informal speech. English is too crude and cold.

  • @RememberedAtLast Generally speaking a native speaker of roughly the same intelligence / education should be able to speak their native tongue better than someone who learned the language as a second language. That is not unique to English - it goes for any language.

As for Arrogance, do you mean in USA? If so then I probably agree. But that is not language centric - it is cultural. But you have to be careful with superlatives. I do not know every culture in the world to compare - do you?

  • @godshiva I totally disagree with you,I'am romanian and my girlfriend is irish, english is my second language and it's her native language yet there are words that she asks me to spell and she is a smart girl.

I seen highschool or nearly at highschool stage kids that didn't know how to spell properly-they kept saying it's ''propaly''.then again some highschool kids that use aloud instead of allowed, these words are totally different.

  • @godshiva The reason some foreigners speak better english than some native speakers again SOME native speakers is because they focus on every detail of the language they are trying to learn in this case english, their pronunciation may not be as good as a native speaker.

I still remember the grammar we used to learn when I was in school and if you aren't good enough in english you won't pass,so because of english you could miss the entire year,so you really have to learn english or you won't pass

  • @RememberedAtLast What bullshit...........english speakers speak english alot better than foreigners.foreigners dont seem to even know that the plural case exists for fuck sake...they say "i have lots of THING to do" they never put S on the end and they are shit when they master it anyway

  • @TheEliteSquad11 Huh? "i have lots of THING to do"?? Never heard that here in Scandinavia. Maybe George W. Bush would say something like that. Oh wait he is a native english speaker...

  • Learning another language is easier if you already know more than one language.

    FTFY

English speakers aren't any less capable of learning a second language than speakers of any other language. Like any language English has its fair share of rules adopted and shared with other languages.

A native English speaker learning German(aka me) will have trouble with gendered nouns.

A native Spanish speaker learning German will have trouble with a required subject.

  • @murderinthestructure Er I dunno. You can look at my videos Spooky Halloween Poem /watch?v=wO1I8BDAbWw ( I said 'trae' wrong) and Mon poème préféré en Français /watch?v=VL6YmlgWqpg Keep in mind though, I learned every language separately and in a different way. I don't have a video of me speaking German, I only studied it for a few months and then a semester in College. I was 1/3 of the way through the first Mastering German and I spoke better German than about 1 year of school study.

  • I have used Rosetta, but with languages that I am already familiar with. I think you are correct, that if I were to use Rosetta for Mandarin Chinese, I might feel a bit unsure of what they are referring to. I can see what you mean. Good points.

  • Yeah neckbeard, shut up! I'm buying Rosetta Stone French because every other review is excellent. You don't seem to know what the hell your talking about so you should find a better use for your time. Oh, shave your damn neckbeard, you look very unproffesional and my first impression of you was that you live in your grandmother's basement and only see the sun maybe once a year. :D

  • @Kanan0789 The other reviews - are they people that have studied 5 languages and multiple programs like me - or people that have only used Rosetta Stone?

  • @Kanan0789 Who the hell said anyone had to dress up and look presentable for a video on Youtube?

He makes plenty of decent points about his dislike for the program. Who are you to demerit them? You're the one who's only buying it because it's had positive reviews. It's not his fault that a simple negative review makes you feel insecure about learning a language through a specific program.

    PS. Neckbeards are FUCKING AWESOME.

  • Is this "Pimsleur Method" a computer program or a book, or what is it? Because I was contemplating Rosetta Stone to help me master the Japanese language, but it's so expensive and if it's not actually going to help me then I don't want to waste my money.

  • @RikuAxelCloud Pimsleur is an audio only program. As for Rosetta Stone, some people really do like it. But it pisses me off. My suggestion would be Pimsleur's to get Started, supplement with BYKI (Before you know it) then Barron's Mastering Japanese after that. Once you can speak some Japanese then start learning Kana and Kanji from a book. Most people say Rosetta Stone is a great supplement and drilling system but not a primary learning tool - but for the cost, I'd say it's not worth it.

  • @RikuAxelCloud I jsut used a torrent and mounted it with dameon tools sluite so basically im learning for free...its p2p file sharing

  • Fluenz all the way!!!

  • @Fayl3ur3 Hell yeah! Too bad it is only available for so few languages :(

  • @godshiva I can say fluenz is awesome. I am currently on lesson one of spanish. I agree with you though, it should have more languages available.

  • A tool is only as good as it's operator. I get more out of Rosetta Stone than I have through any traditional language class I've taken.
