@gwynnus at 72v the X5304 in a 20" wheel is insane fun, The 409 at 72v as seen in the video above outperforms the X5 at 48v, both hill climbing and top speed.... but if the X5 had equal voltage it would be no contest lol..
Nice on both counts. How much does this configuration cost though? Any time I've ever priced it the numbers come up at 1 grand even for a 20mph configuration. Where did you buy this and how much? Thanks.
It's not an engine, it is an electric motor power assist. Elderly people need assistance going up hills as well as many people who have muscle or skeletal problems such as myself, but still need the exercise that a bicycle affords. Also, apparently the fun factor is lost on some folks.
ypedal, thanks for postin i just ordered a 409 last week and im waitin because demand is so high its almost impossible to find a system that isnt on a back order...
anyway i think u should make it more clear who won that race! u didnt say which motor was in front, from the looks i could tell it must be a 409 cause the x5's are black.
btw u could tell these guys complaining arent really cyclists there just looking for a reason to complain and talk sh!t to people !!
However, if i was on ther side of this specific hill.. i would have had to stop at least 3 times before the top. Entrance and exit, 3 lanes wide for cars going into a nature park.. 90 % of cyclists in this part of town will ride on the left side of the road to stay alive.
I DO ride on the correct side of the road in almost all other situations.
The other side of the road seems perfectly fine to me. And why stop if there are no traffic lights? Others should stop and wait for you if they want to enter the road, no?
The cars on the road , going into the park are not the problem.
It's the cars from the park who want onto the road that come up a blind hill.. then stop directly into the bike lane to see if they can proceed onto the street that can't see you .. and you can't see them until it's too late.
Trust me on this one.. the wrong side of the road is the right place to be in this situation.
I completely agree that you should ride on the right when on a bicycle.. this is the exception to the rule.
Hey Ypedal, maybe you should take the leads from the battery and connect them to your gonads and then your brain. Then maybe you will ride on the correct side of the road.
It's people like you that give cyclists a bad name. Thanks for listening.
This video was taken on canada day, notice the lack of cars on the road ?
Also, location is a big factor here, i have been riding this route for over 6 years, daily... the other side of the road is far more dangerous with a nature park and minivans full of kids with parents looking tot he back seat and rolling into the street past the bike lanes without looking....
I always ride on the proper side of the road when i commute to work ( 100 kms a week ! )
Lack of cars? So what? Notice especially the red car at 0:35. A car pulling into the road will NOT be looking to it's right for oncoming traffic. That's pretty dangerous right there. Stay on the correct side of the road! Traffic laws are for everyone!
woah did u hear his laugh at the end damn dude

I have a 5304 on a 26" wheel that runs of 48volts and its fantastic, On a 20" your acceleration must be unbelievably good. Two questions.
How did you manage to fit a rear 5304 in BMX frame??
Does the 409 on 72 volts lose power going up hills? I used to have a 409 on a 26" running at 36v and it was gutless

any special reason you chose both torquey motors and sacrificed speed? got lots of hills or what ?
guys go 40mph with 72v on 406.
and with your smaller wheels (20) you'd still get the torque with 5303
scriewy 2 years ago
20" wheels provide better acceleration, and are easier on controllers (less heat)
A 406 at 72v on a 26" wheel is fast but ineficcient with poor throttle power control.
The 409 in 20" at 72v scoots right along and has a reasonable and usefull top speed on full throttle.

Nice bike. But seriously, stop riding on the wrong side of the road it's never the right thing to do, in any situation.

Nice! Ypedal indeed.. So how much did it cost for everything?

Cool. Although it would suck if another rider was going downhill and you're charging uphill, could be messy.

Not cheap to build, but cheap to run !
The norco in it's current state - 3500 $ +
The e-BMX - 1500 $ or so..
Worth every penny !
