  • I broke the red wire, fml.

  • nowadays, oral b makes it easy to open this piece of shit, but the battery is impossible to replace. they made it so you can open and recycle the battery while the unit gets trasht.

  • @jason123456789210 Yes, if you just pull the battery out, you trash the spring clip; that's why you need to get the whole unit to slide out. But I did wonder why they made it so that you could get to the battery without being able to change it... now I see - it's for recycling as you say. They just want to be sure you can't put a new one in. Bet someone got a promotion for that design!

  • I have some IMR 10440 Lithium batteries (3.7V) >:)

Probably gonna end up with bleeding gums

  • Do not do it if u go 12 down u will damage the red wire easily u will have better luck just twisting the bottom off and pulling the whole thing out

  • @TheBlackbutlerLover It's important to only make a small hole to help the screwdriver get down to where the catch is; you're not making a big slash there; I may not have made that clear in the video. Notice I used the pointiest knife blade I could find, too!

  • interesting why they simply don't not design the toothbrush so that you can change the battery from the top. retarded design

  • @johnnylawrence123456 they do it so you have to buy a new one everytime it dies. If people could put a new battery in easily, they woud get a much longer life span of the toothbrush and companies like lots of money! haha but I agree with you.

  • Hi I tried this, and it wasn't coming out so I tried the push really hard method, and it didnt work either. Then I yanked it out after reading a few comments and that worked. So you just need to yank it out. Turns out I forced the screwdriver in so hard I severed the red wire, so I have to fix that too now....

  • @dc443 thats what i JUST did after watching this... lol it looks like I pressed hard enough to crush the two plastic hooks that keep the motor in too. I thought I sucessfully did it... then I see the red wire in half..

  • i had one of those, i fint it to be buIIshit, wast of money, i clean bettter with a manual brush

  • Does anyone Know How To Take Teh Head Of Teh Oral-B BRAUN Toothbrush? I Need to know A.S.A.P

  • @fizzlenizzle1221 Although Oral-B and Braun are both owned by Procter and Gamble, I thought they were marketed separately, so an "Oral-B Braun" toothbrush makes no sense to me (yet). You'll have to find the model number; once you've found it, try searching for that.

  • @andycivil theres an easier way to do it

  • I was able to follow your instructions but with a simpler manner.

After unscrewing the bottom part, I took a small flat-head screwdriver, and counted 12 steps up just as you did, then at the 12th I jammed my screwdriver in the rubber until i heard *click*. After that I was managed to pull the battery housing with ease.

    Thanks for the tip :)

  • @boyo1234: I agree with you! Several people have reported success with this shortcut. People should definitely try this quicker method first, and only resort to cutting if it doesn't work.

  • thanks for posting this video! I destroyed the first one I bought by bending the metal part, inserting another battery and trying to bend the metal part as it was originally. That didn't work, hence me looking this video up on youtube. knew it would be here somewhere :) I love the toothbrush but shame on oral b for making a toothbrush where you need a screwdriver, knife and oil to replace the battery!!! But again, thanks for posting!!

  • I just gave the battery and metal piece a good pull and that whole thing came right out. I then just changed the battery, slid it back in and it worked perfectly. No need to cut it up like that unless I just got lucky by pulling it.

  • @minix775516 Interesting - you may be right! I was indeed able to do the same, but I'm not sure if I've rounded the shoulders on the latch on mine by forcing it previously. Also, I was able to remove the mechanism on a different pulsar simply by pushing VERY HARD in the right place instead of making a cut. I need to get a fresh new pulsar and try these shortcut tricks. There may be a sequel coming!!!

  • @minix775516

HAHA after I read your comment I went and opened it, and pulled it out as well no need to cut it. Make sure when you pull it out that you keep part of your hand pressed against the metal clip so it does not bend. Then replace the triple A and now it works like NEW.

  • This is the worst lie ever. You WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO OPEN IT. I took it back to the store and they couldn't open it. Leave it at the store and get the spin head toothbrush. At least you can change the batteries.

  • @MyChoclateThunder When I posted this I was ready for some rude comments, perhaps about my British accent or bad editing or the crummy backdrop, or comments from dentists about discarding brushes when they're worn out. But to have someone come along and accuse me of - what? Faking it? No, that one I never anticipated. And, of course they couldn't open it in the store. I knew it needed a trick, that's why I thought it was be cool to make this video. Instead of ranting, why don't you just do it?

  • This type of toothbrush is the best ive ever used. Them making it so you pretty much gotta ruin it to change the battery pisses me off! I wish they'd not make seem like you where able to change the battery. Good video none the less.

  • ok but there is no other original solution from the company !

  • is this really how oral b wanted its customers to change the battery? i dont want to destroy my beloved toothbrush! (L-O-V-E IT!!!)

could i just bend that clip and change the battery?

sorry for the bad english...and great video^^

  • @HollyBerryBlue The first time I tried this, I tried to bend the metal clip. There is another video somewhere here that suggests this. The problem is that once you bend that metal away, you can't really bend it back properly. There's a lot of inward pressure to keep the contact good, but you can't restore that with the battery in the way. The other video adds some kind of pressure pad. Oh, and Oral-B don't want you to change the battery, they want you to buy a new toothbrush!

  • @andycivil

oh, get it...but is it waterproof after cutting it?

  • @HollyBerryBlue I can't make promises because I can't control how big a cut you make. You have several things working in your favour: the rubbery material tends to close back up all by itself, the oil helps to make a seal as it repels water. Also, it should certainly be 'splashproof' meaning that your dribble of toothpaste is not going to go inside because there's no pressure; note that there's already a vent hole. I placed mine in a cup of water over the slit for an hour - no water went inside.
