  • you should actually put a load on the alternator

  • Now I have to make one of these... Very awesome... Perfect to keep in the truck or tool box... Or just to have... That is really awesome...

  • I'd need to see that under a full load.

  • 12 volt generator

  • Great job

i really think this is what i have been looking for , what can it be used for? i need extra power for my camping trips thanks for your help

  • Start selling a conversion kit and you'll be surprised.

  • I need that for my kitchen.

  • Pretty cool... At full load, a 100 Amp alternator will require nearly 2 HP (740 watts = 1 HP) approx .

The nice thing is this set up will provide usable power regardless of speed, alternators can churn out decent power at 1000 rpm

    Thumbs up

  • Nice job with the setup...really lightweight. I bet you could run a few CFL bulbs with it using an inverter.

  • i did this same trick with a 3.5hp lawnmower engine and i know i could not put that much of a load on it befor it would stall it cant see this doing much more then maybe charging a batter if it aint that dead that is

  • awsome

  • Isn't it spinning that aleternator a little too fast?

  • @Landotter1

No, if you look at an alternator while its in a car, The crank pulley is about twice as large as the alternators pulley. So when the car engine is turning 5,000 RPM the alternator is 10,000RPM or whatever the ratio happens to be in that car. He has it the other way around.

  • @kens97sto171 Never really paid attention to the ratio to be honest. Thanks for pointing it out! :-D

  • @kens97sto171 the ratio is 4 to 1. the alternator turns 4 times for every 1 turn of the engine.

  • @mountain177 its the other way round buddy, the pulley on the alternator is 4 times as big as the engine pulley so the engine must turn 4 times for the alternator to turn once

  • I would like to see this charging a battery, actually on load. How many amps at 12+ volts can you get out of it? And have you worked out the engine/alternator RPMs?

  • Is it possible to purchase this?

  • awesome...two thumbs up !!!

  • what power max hi produce

  • yeah micro your mum

  • put it on an electric bike!

  • nice dude!

  • This is very clever but please show it with a load.

  • GREAT IDEA !! taking a car generator and a rc car engine!!!

  • Reconfigure the alt to a welder

  • That is so cool

  • Cool an altenator and weedwhacker engine :)

  • Very nice!!! COngratulations. How many amp?

  • If i may ask, is that the Zenoah G260 or the G230?

  • @Pierre5484 G260!

  • Hey that is sweet....you go throw that in a knapsack. Hey can you post of a video of it working some good load. Can it push 500 watts?

  • Very nice work how many amps can you get uot of her?
