  • The best live performance, these guys are just pure gold

  • they couldve kept the end of this song going on for another 5 more minutes....

  • This is first time I heard this song and even about this band. How could this happened? They're just amazing ;)

  • See Thrice live: Added to bucket list.

  • @Midknightdrummer Seen them twice...once wasn't enough ;) lol

  • This band has a near monolpoly on everything that rocks!

  • I want the world to end to this song.

  • Omfg I just melted. Like butter.

  • And yes, I have seen and own the DVD.

  • @JFlem86 You have the DVD? Where from? :'(

  • Nash "ages" the bodies. They don't sell new looking guitars...it is a fender telecaster just "aged" and with a couple new and "better" parts. The variax was something Dustin and teppei wanted so they threw it in. I could do the work Nash does, and I have. I took a squier tele, threw dimarzio pups (area t on neck and tone zone t in the bridge) re did all the wiring, new input jack, new knobs and switch and I brought the finish back to a natural wood. I did it all for about 1000 less than Nash.

  • that totally makes sense now! When I first saw this almost four years ago I thoguht Thrice had like 8 random people backstage ready to just come out and sing. I'm guess those people are from the opening bands. I went to a thrice show last night and they had people from all the opening bands come out and play mini drums during a song

  • @MegaMcrain

Dude was this in Towson? Recher? I was there, it was for The Earth Will Shake! I wish they did the vocals thing though, so amazing.

  • Anyone know what fenders they play? I really like their tone live and on the album.

  • @surgeyX i know Dustin plays a Telecaster. I'm not sure about Teppei.

  • @surgeyX Dustin's technically isn't a Fender. It's a custom Nash guitar with the guts of a Line 6 Variax I believe. Teppei is playing a Jaguar Baritone Guitar.

  • @theearthwillshake

I'll have to check it out...I've never heard of nash, but I love telecasters. Thanks.

  • @surgeyX in this video dustin's playing his first guitar ever, a telecaster. teppei is playing a jaguar.

  • @brad123954

I think they're both made by nash guitars -- they look really cool.

  • @surgeyX nope. fender my friend.

  • @brad123954

They're nash. Nashguitars dot cawm...it looks exactly the same as the one he's playing (plus wikipedia says so, and they're always right!). It's actually a custom nash with line6 variax electronix shoved into it.

  • @surgeyX my drummer is completely obssesed with this band and knows every single detail about this band to the tee. he gave me in-depth descriptions of the fender telecaster, the fender jaguar, and the gibson gravbass used in this video. the same way les paul body styles are used by various makers, applies to jaguars and telecasters as well. i promise you, they're fender.

  • @brad123954

Well, if your drummer had the DVD of thrice live at the house of blues (this video is a part of the dvd), he would have seen in the bonus features commentary Dustin saying that this is a Nash tele :P

  • @surgeyX i guess. his tele is custom built. tepei is still playing a fender jag.

  • @surgeyX nash basically takes guitars, throws pickups in them and calls it their own.

  • One person is a cunt.

  • thrice is so fuckin awesome

  • One person isn't free

  • If Thrice was the only band that ever existed, nothing would be wrong with my life.

  • SICK ENDING!!!

  • those lucky bastards lol

  • musically thrice kicks ass

  • epic song and performance! all hail thrice!

  • Seems like they have more fun playing the heavier stuff and it sounds fucking good

  • FUCK

    ME

  • i saw them on this tour in san antonio. it was amazing. they had people come out for the end too, i dont remember that many though. obviously special for the dvd

  • thrice instantly became one of my fav bands when i heard them, hope they come to the UK soon

  • Flames will rise and devour me.

  • @EternallyDark

wow really? another one of those comments...

  • I saw them with Deftones a few years ago. Amazing performance that drew me into a cult following. Amazing band. Amazing song.

  • Who is that at the end? Their techs \ crew? So cool -- this album was so good. I didn't like the one that came after it though.

  • good lord in heaven this ending is so incredible

  • powerful song... epic ending...

  • TELL ME ARE YOU FREE

    TELL ME ARE YOU FREE

IN WORD OR THOUGHT OR DEED

    TELL ME ARE YOU FREE

    WHILE THE GALLOWS STAND

AND BULLETS LANCE THE BRAVEST LUNGS

WE HOLD OUR HANDS AND FOLD OUR TONGUES

  • How could you honestly play this song as an opener and not move. I don't think it's possible.

  • who are the guys at the end?

  • @Waterworks410 Probably people picked from the audience. They look way too excited to be the crew

  • Thrice is EPIC! This song just has so much passion in it. I love this band, they are always going to be one of my all time favorites.

  • to the 1 person who disliked this........ FUCK YOU!

  • @whogotdmosh it was that bever kid who disliked this.

  • Holy shit. Chills.

  • I literally missed the like button.

  • To everyone hating on the Bass Player. GET LOST! he is just rocking out and its Awesome! not every bass player has to be monotonic, flicking there fingers up n down and shit, looking like a man with no soul. this guy is rocking out.

    Thrice!!! till i die,

  • Teppei's guitar parts in this is incredible.

  • who is the asshole who disliked this?

  • Joesph Gordon Lovette is an amazing drummer lol

  • @heathenchemistry

haha I guess Riley does kind of look like him. Kind of.

  • who are the vocalist guys at the end?

  • @Laufari guy next to dustin is his brother chase i think

  • wow that ending was beautiful

  • To the bass player... You're not a fucking guitar player dude.

  • @joshwinger in what way is he acting as a guitar player? he's playing a bass, he's locked in with the drums, and doing backing vocals. I think you just don't know shit.

  • @JackPlaysBass I play bass. I won't say for how long cause i'd be dating myself. My comment was meant to point out that he's hitting the string so hard that he sounds out of tune. Something guitar players do frequently. It's YouTube. Try not to take it so seriously.

  • @joshwinger To josh winger, you're not in fucking thrice dude. i dont care how old your are either. But you're right, it's youtube, youre allowed to write self righteous comments about how bass should be played by older wiser experienced people like yourself.

  • @joshwinger Dude has a good stage performance unlike most bass players, and the bass is aggressive in this song, kinda fits

  • @pbWebb92 agreed i havnt seen any other bassist play like him

  • @glydeuserhelp yeah, I wish our bass player would do more than bob his head and tap to the beat :P

  • @FinallyDunn my head would explode in amazement at the awesomeness.

  • wow, if only they kept that ending going for a good hour or so... i then would die happy.... if i were to die after that.

  • So beautiful

  • cry..................................

  • Very nice-- honest and sincere work here.

  • im sorry but the band dustins brother is in fucking sucks i guess dustin was born with all the talent in that family

  • This was absolutely amazing last night! :)

  • Could anyone possibly hit the bass any harder?

  • monkey these guys are bad!

  • OMG They're SOOO amazing live! I wish they'd come to Knoxville! D:

  • kensrue brothers <3

  • Comment removed

  • @justinskies whenever theyre doing the hum to firebreather and the other band comes to sing along its dustins brothers band and dustins brother is singing with him.

  • Seeing these bitches tonight. Stoked

  • @divided123 They are so good, I seen them a few months ago.....fresssssshhhhhhh to death.

  • Dustin Kensrue is a true hero of reformation. God bless his career!!!

  • how does the bass drum get that ''click'' sort of sound!? anyone know?

  • @StyrofoamPlatess it goes to a machine that converts all the bass hits into a pre recorded sound that plays through the speakers

  • @Redsoxwsc07 what the fuck, stop spouting shite

  • @sweaterlife perhaps @Redsoxwsc07 is referring to triggers.

  • @StyrofoamPlatess while Redsoxwsc07's theory is technically possible... it is highly unlikely, and as someone involved with live sound, i've never heard that used for rock music.

also, as there are different velocities to the kick hits, the use of samples is even more unlikely.

what you're hearing is called the "transient". it's the click part of the sound. it is accentuated because they are using an EQ to boost certain high frequencies (anywhere from 4-9 Khz) on the kick's channel.

  • @StyrofoamPlatess Some metal drummers also use metal click pads that you put onto the skin of the drum so when the mallot hits it it gives it a loud clicking sound, you can hear it in some lamb of god songs. Its possible he is using one of these

  • @itskn0

I did not know this. do you know what songs Lamb of God has done this in specifically?

  • may these guys live and play to be 150

  • EPIC.

  • The ending gives me chills :)

  • I would KILL to be on stage at 2:45. SKJDFHKJDH.

  • Awesome!!!

  • Riley is seriously one of many great drummers! Overall, this is just an amazing band.

  • epic masterpiece

  • i could watch this all day

  • yes,the end of this song is so epic...i really love this band!

  • It is reassuring to hear music this good these days... I was losing faith that decent music was still being produced!!... It's a crying shame at how underrated this amazing band is.. love it.

  • Ohhhhhh ohhhh OHHHH!

    Ohhhh OhhhhhWAAAAA!

  • OMG! so good

  • this is Fcking amazing

  • O.O <----- my face

  • beasty ass bass with distortion i love that gets me pumped!

  • epic

  • I've never heard a song in 11/4 that rocks so hard!

  • A friend of mine showed me this song... i totally freaked out.

  • I saw Thrice live in about 2003, they weren't very good - they just stood there and didn't sound great, although the crowd did not help. I'd love to see them now, looks like they've gotten much much better.

  • Comment removed

  • Yea I saw them a while back and was very disappointed but Ive been to 3 shows in the past year, all of which have been amazing

  • thrice plays live with an excellent quality

    better than the cd :]

  • On Dustin's left is his younger brother, Chase. 100% sure.

  • The guy to Dustin's left at 2:56 is his brother right?

  • yeah, chase.

he's in a pretty sick band too

  • thrice kicks ass!

  • November 25th!!! whose goin!!

  • i am!!!!

  • Sweet, I'll see ya there

  • haha ill be wearing a black alchemy index shirt ; )

  • haha alrite, i'll try to look out for ya. Look at my vids just incase you see me in the crowd or something

  • Fuck everyone in that crowd.

You guys were so lucky... jealousy ensues =[

  • FYI: The people who come out and sing at the end of the song is the band Aushua, they actually sang this helped with vocals on the ending of Firebreather on the CD just like here on the video, so when they toured together they would come out and help out with the ending like they did on the CD. So yeah, it's the band members of Aushua (who opened the show btw)

  • Does anyone know who the people that come on stage for the end of this song are? Are they friends of Thrice? Members of the bands they were on tour with?

  • I think..

Songwriters: Breckenridge, Edward; Breckenridge, James; Teranishi, Teppei; Kensrue, Dustin

  • What noone says above. One of them is also Dustin's brother/cousin. Sorry, can't remember which!

  • The one next to Dustin is his brother Chase who is in the band Eye Alaska.

  • We almost played with Eye Alaska before

  • They're so inventive! 5/5!

  • Ah, made my night.

  • Too soon.

  • hahahaha

  • the ending always gets me but this performance really took the cake

  • he can sing alrright so nice voice defenitly goosbumps

  • his voice is like no other is like a perfect misture of clean singing and raspy

  • sooooo yummy

  • (º . º)

  • Outstanding, his voice stays the same no matter the stress and the crowd and everything...

  • i've seen firebreather twice live. gave me chills both times. the only way i can describe it is like a religious uplifting. it's just so amazing!

  • that is beautiful

  • was that Band Camaro at the end? If so it was fucking awesome!

  • No, it was the band Aushua. They helped out on that part of the song on the record as well.. Chase Kensrue, who is Dustins younger brother helps out on this video too.
