right! music is NOT about faces! i am a musician and i know some of the ones, that played in this concert, and they are top class!

There is something strange about this, and it's not a complaint - the music is true to life in the storm that young Mahler created in this movement. The power and the fury, the passion is all there. Good as any orchestra I've heard on the Mahler 1. The tempo, dynamics, execution - all perfect! But to look on these young musicians faces - they look so blank and uninspired, even when all that raw power and emotion is pouring out...

I'm not a musician so I suppose its pure concentration and focus?
