  • i´m german and i can say that you pronounce the words very good! -----> sehr gut (german word for very good:))

  • @misscaroo99 Danke schoen :) I try :) I have a lot of great German friends that help me. The guy filming is actually a great german friend of mine. who lives about 5 blocks from the Dom in Cologne. Fun times :)

Glad you like the video/accent. hope you will subsribe! have a great weekend!

  • Haha nice. the "Ch" parts like "Ich Will" you spoke them really good. Most English people are breaking their tounge trying to spell it :D

  • @lafafafafafunga Thanks :) It took me some time to get it. Glad its getting better :) Thanks for the nice comment and thank you for watching!

  • @lafafafafafunga also, the 15 koelsch i drank before the video may have helped too ;)

  • i would like if you make a video over the german police etc....last time i was in cologne a canadian noob made the "gruß" and one of the officers kicked his ass....actually pretty brutal but right in my eyes!

  • @MatrixTails hahahaha its not allowed.

  • @woltersworld Wow, this is actually kinda cute :) I am german and live near Cologne, so double fun for me ;)

Your pronounciation is really good. And these few words can break the ice, you know, although many germans speak english it is always appreciated to know some german words to show that you informed yourself about the country you are visiting.

The most important sentence, however, is: "Sorry, wo ist das Klo hier?" :D

  • @ukupilele Thank you! I figure "Klo" is probably the most important word because when you need... du brauchst es :)

Thanks for the great comments and for watching and i hope you will subscribe! :)

  • You're always better off with english - slowly spoken- than with some phrases learned via YouTube. But the idea behind your videos is great!

  • Well, if you can live with a bad pronounciation you can also talk to all people in English^^ (By the way: At the moment pupils in Germany learn English for about 11 years (me too^^))

  • @TheMaronator I agree. Germans do speak a lot English and usually pretty well. But Wenn man in Deutschland ist, soll man Deutsch :)

    mfg

  • if you dont talk to old people or rednecks in germany everyone will understand you even if you talk english to them

  • Die Story dazu: ENTSCHULDIGUNG BITTE, ICH WILL mal tierisch kacken. WO IST das KLO und WIE VIEL ist da los? ...aha...JA....mmhmh...NEIN DANKE.... :-D

  • Nice Video! You can speak German well. You have to go to Stuttgart!! Its very nice there.. :)

  • @MegaNoobLP I will do my best to stop by. We are planning our summer tour/trip/filming expedition and we are going to be passing through southwest Germany so it is a definate possibility. So what should I see there? Give me the local tips! thanks for watching and commenting!

  • @woltersworld

    Things you have to see:

    -The TV tower

    -Shopping at Kingstreet/Königstraße

    -Mercedes-Benz-museum

    -Wilhelma (The Zoo)

    -Maybe the Porsche museum

And if you go in october, in Stuttgart is the second largest Octoberfest.

So, I apologize for my bad english, if I made mistakes! Have fun at your trip! :D

  • @MegaNoobLP thank you! awesome stuff!

  • @woltersworld I'm living in the near of Freiburg, so that i can suggest you some things in south and south-west of Baden-Württemberg there is of course Freiburg, Heidelberg. Konstanz and Karlsruhe. If you want to see the more landscape, the Bodensee is awesome and the Schluchsee. I think many other people here can give you some references. I wish you furthermore a good time here in Germany! :)

(I hope my English was comprehensible :D )

  • @Gravey991 Great English! Thanks for the advice. I will be in the Southwest part of Germany in June and I am planning on hitting Freiburg and Heidelberg for some more filming. Konstanz and Bodensee are beautiful. I was there a couple years ago and was amazed at just how majestic it was. Thanks for the tips!

  • you don't have to speak german in germany, better don't just try it. Nearly everyone here understands english very well and mostly better than a terrible try of german =)

  • If you're in eastern Germany near the Czech border, the following sentence is very important: Mit Schlucken 10 Euro ?

  • You missed out the essentials of german language: "Wo ist die pussy bitte", "Ich will einen Berliner haben", "Ich bin Amerikaner, Entschuldigung", "meine Tochter möchte mit Dir ins Bett gehen", "Hier schmeckt mir nichts, ich möchte schlafen gehen".

  • @69supafly Supafly, you supafunny :)

  • Comment removed

    danke schoen mein kluger freund

  • @woltersworld

  • @Lintflas Danke schoen lintflas. mfg

  • @woltersworld Don't feed the troll, pal ^^

  • @woltersworld Haha, you owned him!

  • @Linuxdirk Thanks :)

  • yeah, you could ask those things in german... or you just speak english, most germans will understand you and the conversation will be easier for both of you..

  • @robn23x I agree with you, aber wenn man in Deutschland ist soll man Deutsch sprechen :)

    mfg!

  • if you wanna have some fun on your next trip ask: wo bitte ist hier der nächste donnerbalken? and watch their reaction

  • my god, nobody complains about a foreigner, who can only speak basic german and not these complex polite paraphrases

  • Funny to watch this if u are german.

  • @K1llForFun Thats why I am only serious with non-Germans :)

  • you can also say "bitteschön" and "dankeschön".. it sounds a bit more polite :D

  • It's always funny when people try to learn German. I can imagine that it is really difficult to pronounce the German "ch" like in "ich" or "möchte".

  • @youwillshitbrix yeah, the umlaut vowels are freaking impossible at first (and second ;)

Thanks for commenting and watching! please sub!

  • an other word for wc is SCHEISSHEAUS!

  • @Hornochse87 Klasse :)

  • "Ich will ..." is quite impolite. "Ich möchte ... " is a little bit better. The best and most polite way to order something might be "Ich hätte gerne ...".

  • your pronounciation is excellent!

  • Wo ist die Klo :D

  • great list of reproduction i have seen..mister worlterlsworld...i got to understand a lot of words...you have done a great job...only subtitles in german english failed..but..i got a lot of understanding about you were speaking in german..congratulations mister wolterslworld and follow of this way..doing good culture and good entertainment..salutations.

  • @rbenjy21 I will try to get more subtitles on the videos. thanks for the comments and watching. please subscribe!

  • @woltersworld yes mister..the subtitles are important..of this way there is more chance for people to learn german...but was very good your classes of german done in english...i am subscribed..estoy subscrito

  • @woltersworld Or you just ask if they can help you. Most germans are very friendly and helpful so there is no need to worry. I mean ask in english because most of germans can speak or at least understand english. :)

  • for me, as a german, it's kinda funny and intersting to watch your videos! :p

and I have to say: your german pronouncation is pretty good!! say hi to your son :p and a happy new year! (:

  • Wo ist die Klo :D:D:D:D

  • "ich will" is kinda harsh if you say it to strangers, "ich hätte gerne", "ich würde gerne [...] haben" is much more friendly.

  • @NSQ00 I agree with you, but I was just going for the easiest and shortest phrase for tourists to memorize. Thanks for watching and commenting! Have a great new years!

  • @woltersworld "Ich möchte" is already nicer than "Ich will" and should be as easy to speak

  • @b1100101

true, but that's only the case for germans.

if a foreigner says "ich will" germans will assume that he meant "ich möchte". unless you come over as pushy and arrogant in other ways. :)

  • @Aroddo

    Touché

  • Well, "Klo" is just the short version of "Klosett" (engl. "closet"), and there's of course the water closet, wich is the famous "WC", both in English and in German ;)

If wanna drink a bear, then you better say "Ich hätte gerne ein Bier", which is "I'd like to have a bear". But in southern parts, people with German accent say "Ich krieg' ein Bier" oder "Ich bekomm' ein Bier" (= "I get a Bear") which is even more demanding than "I want". That's OK if you know the barkeeper. BTW: great channel!

  • @HarryParry2011

    Frohes neues =)

  • @Sizzlik ja stimmt, auch grad gemerkt :D lol, a Bär unn a Brezn, bittschä

  • You don´t need to speak german to communicate with us.

    Just keep it simple!

Not: Hello my foreign friend... would you please have the kindness to show me the way to the nearest place, where i can get rid of my endproduct of my metabolism ^^

  • Germans actually understand "sorry" and it will be fine if you say that. "entschuldigung" might be a bit much for the untrained tounge *smiles*

  • @possumGFX true... i think it took me about 2 years of German class to get even close to pronouncing it correctly :)

Thanks for the comments and for watching! please subscribe!

  • @possumGFX I am german and I use the word "sorry" more than entschuldigung ;)

  • Only morons say "Klo". ;-)

  • @Rickikassel Now you are catching on ;) KLO for all of us!!! :)

  • @Rickikassel Now you are catching on ;) KLO for all of us!!! :)

  • @Rickikassel In the south you say Klo!

  • Guys, that the time & learn as much German as you can before you go. Any German Helps...

Not as many people over there speak english even younger people. Some do, Some Don't...

I was always lead to believe anyone under 30 would speak great english, not true. & they love that you are trying to learn & speak German. They really do, & they will help you with it. & depending where you go they have comewhat different was to speak it. But they all understand standard german so that is good...

  • @woltersworld yeah^^ in english is it "Shithouse" but in english is the word not the good like in german..hope you understand my english^^

  • @woltersworld Whenever someone in Germany says "Ich will" to a stranger, we know they are a tourist. "Ich möchte" is much more polite.

  • just use toilette ...every german understand that!

  • @KleineMurmeln sounds good to me :) thanks for watching and helping with the language tip. mfG

  • @UncutShooterGames :) fotfl das war das beste :) Scheisshaus... that is the funniest comment i have ever gotten on youtube :) awesome!!!!

  • "Klo" means "loo" and is colloquial. You wouldn't say that it in an expensive restaurant or at a formal place or so.

By the way: your videos are great!

  • @MichaMuc very true about "Klo" but I just love saying it :) no idea why... I guess I was dropped a lot as a child. Glad you like the videos. I hope I did at least mention WC... whoops if I did not.

Thanks for commenting and watching! It is much appreciated!

  • "How much" in German kind of sounds like "Refill" hehe

  • @SamuraiYattaro funny how that is aint it ;)

  • @SamuraiYattaro sadly the concept of a refill is not common in germany. only place i have ever come across refills is IKEA and the turkish place in the our central station.

  • @SamuraiYattaro Wieviel

  • 'Ich will' klingt sehr unhöflich. Man sagt eigentlich 'Ich hätte gerne...'

  • @ChimneyCharlie Vielleicht "Ich moechte"?

  • @ChimneyCharlie ja oder ich möchte bitte

  • @Greycloudly You could say that but 'Ich hätte gerne...' is the common way. Or just e.g. 'Ein (Bier) bitte'
