I think they released the series in 80's maybe 84 or 85.When I was almost 5 6years old when I watched it ,one the actreses passed away couple of years ago. whenever I listen to the soundtrack it makes me almost cry.Im 30 years old no and it reminds me how life goes fast.Always I admire Japanese for being such strong facing with challenges make them even stronger.

And the last days as Japan is in huge actuality because of the earthquake in the northeast of the country last Friday, memories are coming up again !! When I went to Tokyo a few years ago, I went to Akihabara looking for Oshin videos. The whole set was being sold for $750.00! This is such a great drama series!

Well I watched this in India back when I was a kid..abt 15 - 20 years back..Time does fly..but this, even back then was something I loved..the melancholy settings..soundtrack and the constant struggle has been etched in my memory..Wld love to see it all again.

Oshin's problems were so ridiculous, it made me want to kill her. And then... my husband was a loser alcoholic! And then my son died in the war!
Then suddenly we see her as an old lady reminiscing about all of this. Insanity!

I used to watch the series when I was 4 years old in Iran. Lol.. As a child I can remember I really liked to live like Oshin, I was always asking my mom: "Mom, please let me go to work for people in their houses", At that time, I couldn't realize why my mom was laughing whenever I was asking her to do that :)
