how your gonna stop a grown man from using a word? impossible i just let people know that i dont like it when they use that word. if they continue i just dont acknowledge them. i aint punching nobody black people got way more shit to worry about than a fucking word.
I am white and have the same opinion, but if I put up this up it would probably be banned. "Hypocrisy at its highest"- you couldnt have said it better. Hopefully your message will stick. The subject is so taboo it cant be talked about rationally. Ignorance is what's keeping it alive- along with the continuous use. Think of some saying you and your friends used to say when you were young and dont say anymore. Why, because you all quit saying it so it got lost over time. Same principle here!
also after reading my comments you might say what's the difference between spanish and Latino. Spanish means from spain. Latino means Latin american, southern american, central american, carribean peoples that SPEAK spanish but are MIXED with the native inhabitants from that land. i dont have a problem with spanish people, but u call me spanish u only recognize one part of my genetic make-up.
How come a black person can go around saying craker? Because we show no fear to that word. In my mind, no word should have that kind of meaning. Again the "n" word can mean anything to different people. No reason for you to deck someone in the face for saying it. Just like you said it's not your word. I could hit some on in the face for going around saying fuck.
The more you cower from it, and duck and dodge it, and refuse to have it said, the more power it maintains, so that when it is used, it has a much greater affect because of this "unspoken law" that says it shouldn't be used. Terms like cracker so on and so forth fall on deaf ears to other races, because they don't cower from a word. It means nothing to them. I truly believe we much more prevalent threats to our culture than a simple word.
True enough; however I'm arguing about the indiscriminantely foolish way most black people use the word than the actual power of it. I doubt most black people even take offense to the word; nevertheless, it doesn't change the fact that it is a self depreciating term. Furthermore, although white people or other races may not be offended by the word cracker (or whatever racial epithet), they still do not frequent these words in their day to day life and their music.
first of all do not take this the wrong way, but i find it irrating when people called latinos spanish, were u referring to people from spain or latinos? cuz if u were referring to LATINOS then it has also become acceptable for latinos to use this word because we're viewed by a lot of blacks as the same. i've had black co-worker once say that latinos are jus niggas that speak spanish. i dont necessarily cringe at the word, cuz i dont let words have power
and i went from being afraid to say, to saying it carelessly, to saying it wit jus people to find it ok, to justifying wit the -a/-er ending, to back to not saying it again. i just find it easier that way(also just wanted to add that method man was asked by a latino once if it's ok for them to use it, and he goes: "yea cuz they jus a black as we is"). the point im trying to make is every may have a struggle of whether or not to use the word. where i stand i wont use the word, but at the same
time dont empower people by letting destroy ur whole day because they projected their negativity on you. dont get me wrong, i dont think that people should go around saying NIGGA! all the time, all im saying dont empower people and there is a place for the word artisticly. if u are trying to make a point for instance mos def mr. nigga. that was artistic way of use the word, and not being offensive but how people(mainly white people) view him. so there's my 2 cents.
I'm white and when you said, "When I'm saying ignant, ignant, i'm not saying ignorant its ignant so you can understand nigga." I used to wonder when I was younger if I was saying ignorant wrong when black people used to say that. But, nah, my friend who's black calls me the N word on occasion and I know he's just using it as a form of homie, friend, and so on. But, when I say I don't like the word, he just plays it off. Has Obama even touched that subject? Peace.
So I do somewhat believe that any race should be allowed to say it, because I refuse to give a simple word that much power over me or how it affects me. The word doesn't hold any of the meaning for me that it held for my grandmother or others in my family. I have discussed this with them even and they saw it from my point of view and understood full well that maybe change was needed to remove the power we placed in that word for so many years.
With that said, part of letting go, in my opinion, is to remove the shackles that the older generations still keep reined in around us as a people. There has been so much debate about the word Nigga vs. Nigger and proper usage and so on and so forth. That it's obvious the word still holds some emblem of power. By consistent contemporary use in a mainstream society with an entirely different meaning, eventually the original meanings fades away and the power is diminished if not eradicated.
While I fully understand your outlook on the use of the word and why it shouldn't be considered a term of endearment. I have to disagree, because we as a people have developed a in-bred vengeful streak, this grudge that we refuse to let go. Yes, what happened then was horrific, & that doesn't even begin to describe it. But in order to move on we have to let go, not let go as though it never happened, but let go with full knowledge & understanding so as to respect the struggle that got us here
I just recently discovered your youtube channel, by the way very dope vids on hiphop,(I'm a huge hiphop head myself) and saw this title and decided to check it out.
So, let my rant begin Lol.
Umm, I have to agree that the usage of the word has become rather rampant, I myself use it, not as often as I did when I was younger, but I do not see the problem with usage of the word so long as an understanding within our culture of its history is upheld.
The N word has never ever been part of the black culture as a benefited way of calling themselves, but originated to be looked down upon by the white to name or call the black in a very disgraceful way! By the African Americans continuing the use of the word N they are continuously blinded fools.
I agree with you 100%. Using the n-word perpetuates racial stereotypes.

Black people saying nigga as a double standard is nothing to apologize for. Obama has the right to enslave "white" people then!
