I use swype on my galaxy tab. It's great but the dictionary is terrible... it doesn't know any proper nouns like cities, states, days of the week, names, etc. Incredibly frustrating. Anyone have a suggestion other than entering words manually and teaching the dictionary?
Good video, but the smaller keyboard is still about two inches too wide for me to comfortably swype while holding the Xoom. I hope they shorten the width before official release.
@MrLiquidaffect Yeah, you're right, the smaller keyboard could be a slightly reworked for more comfort. While I can still use it, I do have to stretch a little when reaching closer to the middle of the tablet. You should contact the swype team and mention it! For starters, they could bring it in closer by getting rid of those drag areas on either side of the keyboard (I'm sure they can place them elsewhere).
@TheMajinVegeta1 It's good, but you should also check out the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. The GT is thinner/lighter (like iPad 2) and you can also buy a cheaper 16gb model (Xoom only comes in 32GB) if you're looking to save some money. I've also heard the display is better on the GT (Xoom can look a little washed out). There are some downsides with the GT though - no HDMI-out, no SDcard slot. From what I've been hearing, it's considered the best Honeycomb tablet on the market. Comes out 6/17 in US.
@TheMajinVegeta1 Ahh, I see. If you don't mind the weight and average screen, Xoom is a very solid Android tablet. You may not even notice the weight/screen issues if you haven't used an iPad/iPad2 much. Of course, the extra weight is probably part of the reason build quality of Xoom feels so great - premium materials?
@icykid I'm not sure which version you're using, but with v3, swyping "still" will come out as "still," not "stol." Are you using the looping feature for double letters? s-t-i-loop on l. Actually, it won't even let me swype "stol" at all...
Does it work in portrait mode ?

Though this was posted in June, I'm clarifying it works perfect for The WIFI XOOM Running HONEYCOMB 3.2.1!

@aguerr211 The Galaxy Tab 10.1 comes with Swype. They included it in the latest Touchwiz UX update... :)
Briefly went over it in our lengthy software video overview.

@SmartKeitai Yea, I don't really like Samsung and I think the lack of hdmi would make me want the xoom.

Swype Fails
1. space bar still is used to learn words will learn every damn thing u type extra annoying
2. Preinstalled users still cant use this new version without doing some crazy sh*t
3. Still cant edit the native swype dictionary(try swyping "still" and you will get "stol")
4.no dedicated learn word option still
5. 10q...need I say more
icykid 8 months ago
@icykid 1.if swype learns a useless word you can delete it from Swype dictionary
2.what do u mean by "crazy shit" and you CAN edit it.
3.you CAN edit it
4."learn word"? you just said in 1. that you can use the spacebar to learn words.
5. you fail.
TheDevilBoi171 8 months ago
@TheDevilBoi171 ok you obviously dont know what I'm talking about let me break it down 4 u
1.Space Bar is a TERRIBLE way to add to the swype dictionary for instance I type urrrgh this sucks bcuz I hit space it learns urrrgh
2.big bold letters on their site if you have swype preinstalled DO NOT INSTALL beta
3.you can NOT edit NATIVE swype dictionary ONLY you the words you taught it "stol" &"urea" can not be deleted try it!
4.learn word should be a DEDICATED button not space bar
5.10q is a bug
