No comments on the transmission? I was thinking of replacing my '01 ZX3 with a 2012 5-door, but the transmission on the one I test drove absolutely did not impress. It was either jarring or completely unresponsive depending on how I hit the accelerator. I love the way the car looks, but that really threw a wrench in my plans.
@Erdie5 I didn't have any issues with the transmission. I know many have, but Ford has issued some TSB that I believe addressed the issue. The only issue I had with the transmission and it's a personal thing is that it is programed to upshift very quickly under light throttle loads. I know this is to keep the mileage as high as possible, but it's a bit annoying if you then need to get on the throttle hard for some reason.
Great review on the Focus! I ordered one after an hour test drive. They are so much fun!!!! I don't care for the hatch though. I went with the Titanium Sedan. It was 25K but as you said, its worth it. I had to laugh at your comment about MI roads, I live in MI too.
Good review. I love solid, nibble autos and your comment that this Focus feels like an Audi A3 says a lot. I love the VW GTI but not their reliability issues. I drive a 2010 Mazda3 GT 5 DR however I want better gas mileage. The fact this car is "expensive" in price and feel doesn't miss Ford's goal of bring luxury to the fuel efficient market. I'm just waiting on the ST and one year of consumer history before I jump into a Titanium level Focus.
what an ugly car the us version . what ford needs to do is to have the european ford focus here.poor ford.
