I love this movie. Olivia is beautiful, the music was perfect and Gene Kelly was awesome as always. Hollywood needs more movies like this. IT was just pure fun!
God, those hideous fashions.I can't believe that I liked some of those fashions back in the 80's.I can't believe that people love that era and think its the best.I didn't like a lot of what we had to pick from back then, so I tried to pick stuff that I thought was classic, but even then, it was 80's fashions. I shudder at the horror of it all.I get sick to my stomach when people say they like the fashions & hair styles from the 80's.I find it one of the ugliest eras ever.But love Olivia's hair.

Yes this is early 80's cheese....BUT I LOVE IT! This was a wonderful love story/fantasy and I ate it right up. Olivia was simply gorgous in this movie and she did it for me baby!

Tim Curry singing 'I'm just a sweet Transvestite(I avoid Rocky Horror but I won't say this was not classic or no one was talented. I still find myself uttering parts of 'Time Warp' but then i'm a Dr.Who & Star Trek fan, so...) is catchy but ludicris enough to (Peter Lorre accent) make me laugh...Ehheeeh.

Lots of guys do, to use as an example. But in no way.....have or do we EVER call it a "crush" of any kind. A crush for me is Olivia, Lisa Welchel, Belinda Carlilse, etc. And I'm 29 yrs old. I saw this movie once as a kid (dunno, 7 maybe), and her voice and the rollerskates have been lodged in my memory since. The movie's quite bad, but Olivia is excellent.
I watched this move 2 times in a row when I was a child. I was so mesmerized at mainly Olivia's beauty and smile. It was a movie that really captured by heart since I had so many dreams of being a songwriter, actor and singer. I loved Olivia before, but loved her more afterwards. I do believe, had she had a co-actor that knew how to act and was half as goodlooking as she, the movie would have done much better. The music is top-notch classic!
The movie is famous only because of ELO . Really disgusting to see it, but all is right when you hear the music and Jeff's vocal . And you can say everything , but Olivia is also really cute . :D

I love watching 0:10 - 0:17 over and over and over because her hair is SO bouncy and flouncy and fluffy and It's so much fun to watch! Also the little thing she does at 0:18 is fun to watch.
3 decades have passed... OMG where did the time go? At that time this film barely got the recognition it truly deserved because the critics felt it was too corny. Now in retrospect I'll bet those folks are probably not showing their faces in public. This film was the "Wizard of Oz" for the "B-Boomers", & Olivia was the Judy Garland of our generation.
@briquetaverne Actually the critics said what they did because it really was a pretty bad movie. It's a fun, camp film in the style of Valley of the Dolls, another bad movie that people love. It has great musical numbers, likeable charectors but terrible writing and not the best acting. And sorry but I'm from that generation and as much as I love Olivia she in no way compares to Judy. Still love the movie though. Have the DVD.
@porthosw Oh you are SO right about that. This movie came out when I was in high school. Olivia looked better than she did before of after. And the ELO music? I music have worn out two cassettes and an LP before I finally got a CD years later. When I hear this now I have flashback to a much happier and much simpler time in my life.

Let me get this straight from a historical perspective. Jeff Lynne who also worked with George Harrison, Tom Petty, and Bob Dylan, and Roy Obrison also worked with Olivia Newton John??? That is a sell out BIG TIME and I can only hope he ages better than she does. Hopefully in 40 years from now if someone asks who Olivia Newton John is everybody can shrug their shoulders and say..."Who"? The other guys should survive a few Centuries

@Halo101st if you had looked up the definition of "man crush" like i mentioned, you would see you are mistaken. it definitely does not mean to be aroused by another man; instead it refers to admiring a guy, in a "i wish i was him" type of way. it is not in any way sexual.
this type of admiration is definitely normal for a guy to have; no need to have such homophobic attitudes on things.
