this is def my fav version on youtube :) ive been listening to it on replay for quite a while now while i prepare to place the song on stage. it sounds like a variation of DADGCC... is it different than that tuning?
well, first the tuning is different, and her version is played on top of the neck. i can tell a diference between the to tho, and hers is shorter.(just trying to be helpful). I like both versions .
Kaki King is well aware of the bastardization of this classic... but man, Primus covered Rush... are you gonna get on their case because they don't sound exactly like Rush? I'm not a fan of Kaki's playing, by any stretch of the imagination, but man, there aren't many people out there who have enough credibility in the music world to be able to go "hey, guess what, this is Hedges, it's sick" and spawn an entire new generation of people who are now hip to Michael Hedges. That's why I love her.
i had to play a song in my band class called ritual dance last year it was really easy...but i thought this would be that on guitar with lots of dubbing but yeah i liked this still
why do people figth so much about which version is better?! kaki kings version is simply different, it does not mean it is better or worse! if you know about music you gotta know that when someone plays a song someone made a long time ago, but plays it differently it means that person is trying to give that song a personal touch from her, thats why kaki king made it different! so stop arguing about which one is better its just different!
You have no idea what you're talking about...Obviously, you have never heard Michael's recordings. Hedges's playing has so much more heart and emotion put into it than Kaki's does.
@toshirouzumaki Your understanding of what makes a guitarist good is pathetic. Kaki King hurts my ears. She is completely amateur compared to Michael Hedges.
all he is using is his amp with some reverb and chorus you dolt. and besides it gives it this players signature. this is actually one of the top best covers i have heard of this song on here. and its spelled sarcasm and skynyrd. until you get a vid up of you playing the song don't go insulting good covers.
This guy plays this song alot better than Kaki King.

Michael Hedges is better... kaki's sucks. that's pretty much the difference.

Well, I like both versions.
Anyhow, the tunings are supposed to be different, and kaki's is shorter.
I don't think that it's actually played on top of the neck like in the movie cover she did, but if it is, then wow.
And LinkD3: Piss off.

That reverb really gives it some power. Amazingly played, you should be proud of yourself.

Hedges didn't rely on "peddles" for his magic other than equalization and efforts to get quality sound to his audience
Hey man, play some skinard (sarsasm)

There is something about the pace, rhytm and tone that makes your version so very enjoyable, even more so than the orginial mp3.
