Echo Park - Then and Now

I grew up in Los Feliz/ Silverlake/Echo Park area in the 60's. I remember getting up early on a sat./sun morning and making it down to the lake to catch freshly stocked blue gills, maybe, if i got lucky, a carp.As a teenager, I would go on dates with friends to Echo Park. At that time the lake had electric powered boats that you could put the top down on, at make-out with your girlfriend.

Unfortunately, there are now too may low life, idiots who have ruined it for vast majority of good people.

The reason I like Echo Park is because it is so racially and socioculturally diverse. I would take this area over the whitewashed west side ANY DAY. To all of you retards that have made racist remarks, you need to get with it. LA is growing too big and is waaaaay too cosmopolitan to accommodate any more of your backward and meanspirited racism. When the Spaniards came to north america they encountered the indigenous tribes (native americans) that migrated there from asia. EVERYONE is an immigrant if you go back far enough. America was built by european immigrants, therefore it belongs to us. It would be a sad sight if lower parts of the US belonged to mexico, it would look like the rest of mexico lol. Born here in 72. Moved out in 79. Moved back in 91. Moved out in 05. My parents still owned

their lil duplex there but I got married and now live in Pomona.
