  • Very cool! I've been playing with the open G tuning for a few months now!

  • like it but Hank Williams, Jr did it better

  • I love this video. Real musicians like Gregg play for themselves

  • sounds like he's trying to channel steve stills

  • Magic xD

  • A master at work...

  • This is One Of my Favorites..It is a Masterpiece..Nobody comes close to this emotion.

  • bellissima!!

  • absolutely beautiful

  • I've always liked the Allman Brothers, but I never was really versed in their material, but ever since Greg's latest album I have been finding myself listening to more and more of, especially, his solo stuff. This, by far, is one of THE best renditions of ANY song I have ever heard. Truely speechless.....

  • @budfanno8 go ahead and get their first two albums. eat a peach and brothers and sisters. you won't be disappointed.

  • @bigtoe1111

Just FYI, the first album is self titled and the second is titled "Idlewild South" The first two were also re-released later together with the title "Beginnings". "Brothers and Sisters" and "Eat A Peach" came later. Enjoy.

  • Kuddos to the director in master control who had enough sense to tell everybody "just keep rolling!"

  • would love to hold that guitar after this one was played

  • I have often heard that artists and athletes have their best performances when nobody is watching. Greg Allman was just messing around during a sound check and we got likely the most emotional and perfect version of this song EVER RECORDED. They were also just playing Sweet Melissa right before they were asked to take 5 mins. Both songs to me express that inability to leave a woman you love ...

  • I feel as though the "chord mishaps as he comes to the bridge" add to the song ... He reacts to them emotionally and seems to punctuate the lyrics with a frustration very similar to the emotion expressed in the lyrics ... it's as though he's playing out on the guitar the dilemma in the song of not getting it right ...not understanding her ... and he seems to bellow in anger at that moment and several spots of the song ...

  • Man, that was Awesome.. I loved it.

  • awesomness

    .

  • Could your site be anymore terrible?

  • sooo sexy...love this man!

  • Greg had (has) a lot of soul in him. Not many people on this earth could lay down a track like that.

  • What a classic piece of work. I've heard many versions of this and I find this to be the best. A man and a guitar, amazing!!!

  • i guess to greg allman "technical problems, take five minutes" truly means "hey greg, jam out a masterpiece while we figure this out"

  • ...man makes a guitar talk. This stuff is deep. Thanks for postin this vid up.

  • So hott

  • Hey he looks familiar

  • Sheer class!!! Brilliant!!

  • 27 dislikes? that means 27 people have taste for shit!!!!

  • Your tab is not completely accurate. I wrote an accurate one if you or anyone is interested.

  • @NickeyWhitfield Sure dude. I can publish this on my website and credit it to you if you like?

  • @audioglass Sure, just send me your email address and I'll send it to you.

  • @NickeyWhitfield I'm definitely interested in seeing that tab, can you send me a link?

  • @ledzep45 If you type in "come and go blues tab nickey whitfield" on Google, you find it. First link.

  • @NickeyWhitfield Thank you very much! :)

  • @ledzep45 No problem. Music's for everyone. =)

  • dontknow who you are but happy bday

  • happy B-day Gregg!!!!

  • wow

  • Pure effortless and absolute brilliance!

  • Dang, thats good!

  • Can anyone explain the run down after 4min, only bit I can't figure out.

  • Just goes to show how damn far I have to go to actually consider myself a guitar player - when I can hit it like Kottke, Rice, Michael Hedges or Gregg here well then I'll consider myself a guitar player - great video - thanks for posting!

  • This acoustic version of come and go is awesome!! Gregg is the bridge for many of us between Rock and roll to blues. Who gives a shit about the tuning, grow up guys!

  • The tab link is in the description

  • @audioglass Where did you find this video It's great

  • You all are missing the point.... ITS ABOUT THE MUSIC and Gregg not you idiots. Come on man!

  • could listen to him all day .full of emotion

  • beautiful song beautiful man , you can hear him from the inside

  • Open D tuning is DADF#ad not the opn G tuning listed below. And yes he's playing open D

  • my mistake it's open G. Play an A7 shape on the 3rd fret and move it down to the 2nd then 1st. Alternating bass. You can take it from there. I tabbed it but it's too big to paste here.

  • you guys under me need to shut the fuck up

  • @Liamdelta15 "Punk rock is meant to be our freedom. We're meant to be able to do what we want to do."

    so fuck off, Nazi gobshite.

  • @baburjabal See if I was you, I would retaliate with some synonym filled rant. But i'm not..... I think we should be talking about Greg Allman.

  • @Liamdelta15 no, if you were me you wouldn't be telling people what they "need to do". don't try to fake taking the high road after you've already taken the low one, hypocrite.

  • @baburjabal I agree, the tones of his voice perfectly suit the gorgeous melody of the peice.

  • @Liamdelta15 who are you? Cleopatra, Queen O Denial?

  • @Liamdelta15 Why you so hostile, this music is for everyone isn't it.?.? peace...

  • DGDGBD is not open D tuning it's open G. The notes of a Gmajor triad are G B D.

  • My buddy Brian just send me this link. Nice!

  • very talented very moving song stands the test of time

  • bo

  • If you get a chance pick up his album " Playing up a storm " !

    F'in awesome !

  • tell gregg allman to take a five minute break.....and he jams a masterpiece.

  • Amazing in every way.

  • Man, listening to him makes me wish we could turn back the hands of time. Back to those carefree days sitting by the bonfire on the beach, listening to "GREAT" music. Back then, musicians new how to tell a story through their music! I miss that!

  • It looks like a Martin D35?

  • @12Radius looks like the hd 28 with the harringbone bracings

    around the edges

  • @ccuurryy I don't think the D-28 have white binding on fingerboard.

  • @ccuurryy The D-35 have white binding on fingerboard.

  • The inventor of pornmusic.

  • it don't get much better than that.

  • Fanfreekintastic!!!

  • Is that Dan Toler? in the beginning..

  • Comment removed

  • I like his voice....nice song!

  • Man i love some ABB, and Greg Allman is one soul brother.....voice of an Angel....My dad grew up listenin to the brothers and he first took me to a ABB concert .... I think Raleigh 2003....man were they great!!! I'll never forget the experience. GIVE PEACH A CHANCE!!!

  • 24 dislikes? WTF

  • yeah.....after midnite..in the studio..!> greg jams,,,,,about the same time he and jackson browne shared a pad in seal beach..! 1978....possibly>~

  • @palupalumer and your another reason , it's CONDOM, while your trying to be funny your showing y our an idiot

  • @RATKING10 I believe this is in Open G tuning (DGDGBD) , not open D tuning(DADF♯AD)

    @audioglass Thanks for the post!

  • who dislikes this master is retarded.

  • Yes, I am a hippy and damned proud of it. You can tell when music is classic. It is loved by generations to come. Seems like almost all the music from 60's and 70's is loved today by my kids as much as I loved it back then. I just love the laid back smoothness of Gregg Allman. I never grow tired of it.

  • open d tuning,, i use it lots myself! thanks for the post audio!!

  • @RATKING10 Welcome Buddy

  • @RATKING10 open G for this song

  • @RATKING10

    open g

  • It's open G.

  • @RATKING10 actually its open g.. but whatever as long as it sounds good

  • @RATKING10 no its in open G not D

  • @RATKING10 NOT OPEN D, MORE LIKE OPEN G!!!!!

  • @TheJuanolmas agreed. gregg used open g alot himself and thats definitely what it sounded like to me. little martha was the only song i ever tuned my guitar differently for and i know thats open g.

  • fucked up how anyone could dislike this..this is real music WOW

  • @moongodballface You got that right!!!! 30 plus years from now NOBODY will be listening to 'lady Gaga' or the 'hit for a week' crap that seems to own the industry these days. this is musical and lyrical genius and the small brains just cannot handle that. I would not be surprised if an asteroid does destroy the earth! maybe it is getting to be a good time for. Maybe I will be listening to This song on that ultimate 'come and go blues' day.

  • Is there a studio/album version of this song ?

  • best version of this song I've heard.

  • Thank God for "technical problems". And for the audio-visual people who kept recording.

  • Going to see him tonight in Dublin's Vicar Street. Lucky me eh!

  • @GolfEuropeTV geez quit bullshittin

  • What an incredible musician. I'm sure Duane and his folks would be proud of him.

  • @TheBalcom His mom is alive and well, well into her 90's.

  • jewelllivers@aol.com

  • Amazing song..

  • It doesn't get any better for acoustic blues... Too bad this kind of raw talent is so hard to come by these days in the music of Hollywood bubble gum pop bullshit....!

    Excellent post... Thanks....!

  • @LastOfSixMusic word..........this kind of music doesn't seem to pay the bills anymore....sad to see the downward sprial of music these days. Glad I was a part of it then and will allways favor those times over any.

  • @arai59 Well said...People say its the great music that lasts forever..... There is no doubt that the present is eventually influenced by the greatness of the past.... Soon, I say, soon... Round and round it goes, but greatness lasts forever... So, it's here I'll stay.....!

  • w w w . rockingontheriverinblindriver .

    ca

  • Fuck. Who are the 20 dipshits who disliked this? They must be deaf.

  • One word... Wow.

  • from spain,wonderful gregg

  • "Sorry guys technical problem" AKA you guys are not needed.

  • I knew Gregg in the late 60's. Peace.Gregg! Deanna.

  • This is what makes YOUTUBE great!!

  • GREAT GUITAR GREG! bet richard or jerry lee cant do that, ( love ya guys).

  • a true pro , even when not to script, gave them something to cover with later if need be!

  • An awesome video. How lucky are we old hippies to have that been our time?

  • @whitehorserob , I agree. We old hippies had the good music! It's depressing to compare today's 'music' to what we loved and enjoyed back in the 60's and 70's. I go to more concerts now than when I was young! It's great and keeps me in the groove.

  • @whitehorserob No doubt about that. Hippies still rule!

  • @whitehorserob you should say "hypocrite hippies", how lucky were we punks to come along after you hypocrite hippies left such a pathetic mess for us to clean up? BTW *all* the old hippies I know now vote Republican. Figures. You guys were lame. Never finished what you started. At least the punks are still at it. We never give up.

  • @baburjabal That literally makes no sense at all.

  • @BrowntownSwag I wouldn't expect you to understand.

  • @baburjabal Alright listen ya troll, hippies did a lot for their side during the 60's and 70's. As for the "mess" they left, there is always going to be something to 'clean up' as there was when they started. Hippies just grew up, grew out of it, got jobs and went on living. Unlike the 'punks' whom you say will "never give up". Yeah they won't give up because they've barely made any ground since when they started. So good job you 'punk', good job keeping everything and everyone the same.

  • @BrowntownSwag oooh, itty, bitty baby, boo hoo hoo hooo, guess I touched nerve and made you cry (mission accomplished).

go ahead & call me all the names you have in your bong resin stuck brain, you guys still just make us laugh and shake our heads.

  • @BrowntownSwag I really got under your skin, huh? You're so obsessed you read my profile. Mission accomplished!

well, it's all made up, sorry.

And I'll never bother reading yours.

beat on the brat, beat on the brat...

  • @baburjabal Yeah made up like your love life. Beat on the brat beat on the beat DUURRRRRR! Mission accomplished HURRR DURRR. You know what man? Acting like a complete retard on the internestz is pretty fun,I see why you do it now. Hooray for trolling! :D

  • @BrowntownSwag sorry, won't engage a philistine hippie on a personal level. just happy I could demonstrate quite clearly that most hippies are weak minded, label attaching hypocrites. Now go pray to your bong god, maybe you'll score a nice big bag of marijuana to inspire you to even deeper levels of confused insincerity.

  • This is the sound of my childhood.

  • great blues voice

  • arenal brothers ode peaches like fine wine in time...

  • how many real takes have been recorded or missed during "technical difficulties" ?

anytime gregg loses himself he can watch this and rest assured.

this is as perfect as life on this gets.

gregg interviewed on late night radio once (remember when d.j.'s did that ?) and he said the riff to midnight rider came to him when the band was on a break (tech diffs?) and he got the studio janitor to sit and pick the riff while he worked out the rest.

the brothers returned and they recorded it.

  • @journey46 that is why I read these comments, thanks, awesome facts

  • @journey46 that is why I read these comments, thanks, awesome facts, I was in jail with Greg once in Bellview Florida-

  • if there were an international Most Unassuming Person award Gregg would win it hands down.

'course there would be a long list of blues musicians.

gregg, you have carried me thru many rough spots. i hope my appreciation for what you do in this world and love for you helped you thru yours.

  • Wow, Gregg Allman in his prime! Sure brings back memories. He is just mesmerizing, like he is singing you your own personal lullaby. I love the authenticity of it, hiccup and all .He just has the most amazing voice and it sure doesn't hurt to look at him either. He was one pretty southern boy. Thank you for posting this, and don't ever take it off youtube. And yes, they don't make 'em like him anymore. Very glad he is still with us.
