IMO, gears 2 destroys gears 1. the campaign is much better, and it has bots for multiplayer so you have horde and wingman. I dont have live but i hear gears 1 online is better but besides that i think gears 2 is better.

yeah, the gears 2 campaign is incredibly better, but gears 1 online was so so so much better, but I wish certain things from Gears 2 could be implimented into Gears 3 mixed with Gears 1 to make it perfect. It annoys me cause they kinda "rushed" the multiplayer for Gears 1, and it was amazing, but yet when they focused a lot more on gears 2 online, it sucked more =P

gears one gameplay is just more exiting and fast paced with the ability to wall bounce and pop shot with out being slowed by laggy connections and slow movement. some of the new weapons + story + horde are pretty cool tho but seeing as i still play number one every night its got to be gears1 ftw

I am talking about GEARS 3 go look it up and listen from 3:25-4:07.... his comments about horde on gears 2 is the basis of a 5 player co-op on geras 3
