  • their music will never get old!

  • Alex Skolnick is good...but I feel that Al Pitrelli has a better sound and plays smoother than Alex. I've spent some time going back and forth studying the two and I have to say that "overall" Pitrelli brings more to TSO than Skolnick. I'm not saying that Skolnick is a bad player, he is deffinitely an accomplished artist. I just think that Pitrelli makes TSO sound better.

  • i love alex skolnik in TSO and in Testament

  • On bass in the back it looks like David Z...am I correct?

  • @loveurlife90 Yes that's David Z. There are 2 different touring groups of TSO. They do this to be able to cover more ground in the Christmas touring season. There is TSO East and TSO West. Johnny Z is the bassist in TSO East and Johnny Lee Middleton is the bassist in TSO West.

  • they sound great live but look rediculous. what the hell were those guitarists doing? i couldnt tell if they were trying to look intense or not.

  • Watching this today on my Bday :D 12/12/2010

  • holy freaking crap that ending on the guitar is absolutely, without a doubt in the world amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Is that Altenhoff playing bass? I would think it would be Middleton, but doesn't really look like him.

  • Coolest hair band in existance.

  • hair band, wtf?

  • I like how at the beginning the guitarists are all unified, then towards the end aren't sure whether to move around or not.

    still a perfect performance though

  • Thank you Savatage. Without you there would be no TSO.

  • hey! 12/12/2006 was my 9th birthday!

  • @richardconter okay?

  • @richardconter happy birthday

  • @grim99 Thanks

  • This soundstage doesn't do them justice. They are a lot more impressive than this tv performance shows.

  • Alex Skolnick rules!

  • why di they call them selfs ORCHESTRA?

  • From Merriam-Webster...

    Orchestra:

3: a group of musicians including especially string players organized to perform ensemble music -- they are just a very modernized orchestra. They also utilize traditional orchestras (usually from a local college or other orchestra) for their live shows.

  • ooh very nice!! i like it!

  • because in orchestra, ppl use strings. piano is also a string from the inside

  • I get so tired of seeing comments from people who can't spell, can't type correctly and have no apparent education.

    Please let me help!

ORCHESTR: a group of performers on various musical instruments, including stringed instruments of the viol class, clarinets and flutes, cornets and trombones, drums, and cymbals, for playing music, as symphonies, operas, popular music, or other compositions.

  • shut up regis

  • the ending is soooo sick

  • lol yea i would like them to play requim with all the flames and everything at mine...i got a while tho olny 13

  • I love these guys!! I want one TSOs cd's playing at my funeral. IDK why.

  • I heard this song on the soft rock station

    i love this song! ^^

  • great song

  • damn, 2 shows in my area and i'm stucked at work!

  • dude that sucks. they come to my town like once a year so it sucks having to wait that long

  • what kind of Guitar is Paul O Neil useing?

  • it'll never last. tso is on their 10th annual winter tour this year... you've obviously never been to one of their shows.

  • and your point is ? mr. Scrooge! aka acadia

  • tso has been around for over a decade. not sure where you been

  • It's a lot more than that. This video shows nothing of the actual live show. The light and pyrotechnics show alone is stunning, and they do have a lot more songs going for them than just Christmas carols (which I found out last night live)

  • Give them some credit for doing more than slowing down or speeding up overplayed holiday songs like so many "pop" stars have-done (yawn at them)... I was Rock'n' to these guys even in the summer >-D

  • the live show thats TSO does is absolutely stunning. I went to my 4th show two nights ago in Kansas City and it was amazing. The lights and the show they put on. They do more than just christmas carols. They had a CD entitled Beethoven's Last Night which was amazing. I don't understand how they are unattractive. It'll never last? please they have been around since the 90's. Get your facts right.

  • Where is Anna Phoebe? I would have loved to seen her doing this with the guys.

  • she's on the west coast band, this is the east coast band

  • finally a decent version. jfc it's a christmas miracle.

  • who's the dude playin the guitar with the black hair???????? please tell me i gotta know- its important for the "snape fans"!! lololollol!!

  • Is that alex scholnick(however its spelt)that used to be in testament??looks like him

  • yeah thats him he's also in a jazz trio

  • He's still in Testament as well.

  • Yeah !!!!!

  • whoop

    fuckin great

  • Brilliant!

  • Fucking awesome song!

  • i would love to jam w/ them fools lol

  • YES CLASSIC MUSIC!!!

  • simple, yet sounds great

  • awesome sound

  • And.. never judge a book by it's cover .. I suppose these fellas prove that :)

  • Amazing !! You look at them before they start to play and you would think they are about to come out with a death metal song... They have great tallent, their music is wonderful and inspiring :)

  • Some of them used to be in a metal band called Savatage. In fact TSO's most popular song "Christmas Eve Savatage" was originally done by Savatage on their Dead Winter Dead album over ten years ago.

  • It's entitled "Christmas Eve-Sarajevo" not Christmas Eve Savatage.

  • All three guitar players, the drummer, the bass player, and Jon Olivia were with 'Tage at one point or another

Cafferty's been with them on and off since 1989

Skolnik did one 'Tage album in 1994

and Petrelli's been with 'Tage since '96(Dead Winter Dead)

  • i luv these bitches!

  • awesome merry Christmas!

  • FUK YEAH! TRANS RULES

  • TSO is so freakin' awesome! One of the best song's I've ever heard!

  • They seem to be enjoying themselves ;)

  • This is the East group, for sure. No mistaking Alex Skolnick on the right, as well as Chris Caffrey.

  • Great Job TSO!!!! I love this song!!!!

  • Man your lucky, I've never seen them in concert. ut i want to.

  • I saw them live in Chicago yesterday and I thank TSOVids for posting this clip. It is much cleaner in videio and sound quality than most of the other vids of TSO on youtube. That being said after seeing the whole band with the lights, pyro and incredible sound mix for an arenathe vid is for lack of a better term, sterile. TSO hey if your out there, I would pay good money for a concert video professionally produced by the band

  • They DID release a pro-shot video last year I believe.

  • oh, i agree. i recently saw them in Rupp Arena, Lexington, KY, and it is AMAZING to see them in concert! it would be awesome to have some videos with all their concert lights, fire, etc, that really are part of the overall experience.

  • I bought their Christmas CD and just love it! They are GRE-E-E-A-T! Just AWESOME! I first saw them on PBS.

  • for all of us music ppl imagine the counting that must've gone on then staying together i mean its small but small enough to hear even the smallest mistakes this must have been nuts to practice

  • Great music!

But what's with the long hair? Lol

  • Last year,on a campus band show,we connected this with erotomania..The crowd went berserk!

  • i saw them today .... AMAZING .. i cant get over how awesome they are and this is my second time X D

  • im seeing them dec. 8th XD

  • I'm going to the Dec. 12 show, and if they play this (which they likely will), I'm going to have major wood. I am SO STOKED!

  • Do you know how difficult it is to play that ending? I sometimes jam with a friend (he plays lead guitar, I play bass) and we throw down prog-metal stuff and did just one chromatic section of root-major third-minor third down half-steps for an octave. We nail it, but he and I are just like that together. This is a four-note major scale descension through two octaves. Infreakingcredible.

  • What do you expect from classically trained musicians...Specially with Al Pitrelli. =)

  • Well, we're classically trained too, and it may be easier for us than most people, but it's still a cool challenge to hit it in perfect sync.

  • Okay now try knowing what you're talking about Godslave.

  • And you are?

  • What a bastard. Fool doesn't understand and so he accuses me of not knowing what I'm talking about. I've been in music longer than you've been alive, asshole.

  • Yeah you've been around music? Going to a music store doesn't mean you're "around music" you arrogant (and idiotic) asshat.

  • Excuse me, but I've played and written music for 30 years. I don't even go to music stores, dickweed.

  • Never mind Farthur. He just sounds like a troll. People like that spoil the boards for everyone.

  • You've been writing nothing you idiot. Stealing opinions from others to make yourself look intelligent is really sad.

  • I didn't steal anybody's ideas. And FYI, I have two college degrees in mass communication and classical Greek with departmental distinction in each. Makes you look like a two-bit beggar to call me an idiot now, huh?

This is my last post. You are hereby on **IGNORE**

  • Just as I figured. A troll.

  • @GodslaveRocks wha?

  • @GodslaveRocks

    Again.... this time in English?

  • in their band, yes it is necessary for them to have three guitarist. One plays lead, one plays Rhythm, and one plays melody. They have a massive orchestra when they play all over the country...so they need that many yes.

  • \,,\(^_^)/,,/ rock on TSO!!!

  • the guy n the middle was pretty useless, did they really need 3 guitarists?

  • did they really need the violinists?

  • yeah, gives it that orchestra sound, after all its called the trans siberian orchestra (pretend orchestra is underlined. but the middle guy was pretty useless, i bet they could done it with one guitarist.

  • i was being sarcastic...of COURSE you need the violinists as much as you need the 3 guitarists.

  • why isnt the dude with the kramer baretta shredding?!?!

  • This group is awesome. Just wonder if all who are standing there performing are the entire group? Or is there a larger group? Sometimes on TV shows, they play the instruments and have a back up song in the background playing?

  • TSO NEVER fakes it. Never. It is truly them. Compare this to the actual Lost Christmas Eve album and you'll hear the difference.

And yes, there is a larger group. These are a few of the guys from their East Coast Group. But they have an entire East and West Coast group. A total of almost 200 people. That's how much of a hit they are, they have to split into 2 groups so they can cover enough ground

  • I one time was going to use this song as an overlay for a slideshow of different Anime shots; but never got around to it! LOL *thinks about it*

  • Mahalo nui loa for sharing this video...especially to joanb for letting me onto this. Aloha!

  • The east coast band is way better!!! but why is everyone fighting about this? theyre all in the same band and they all play the same songs... theyre all good in my book...if you ask me...

  • coolest song ever

  • The west is better partly because people are used to it. I think the same thing. I think the narrator is better, the singers are better, and that Al Pitrelli and Tommy Farese are better showmen. Then again my only experience of the east coast tour is seeing youtube videos.

  • Gotta love the swing picking on this song. Damn I'm gonna post some of my guitaring and keyboarding of this song at some point :D

  • I would agree with the earlier comments that this performance is shite.

  • Silence! Decrepit one! These people are MASTERS of their instruments. Bow down now and repent!

  • I've seen both east and west and they're similarly talented. It's probably due to the show, because both are incredible live.

  • tso east is amazing, they're just not in their own element :)

  • sorry, but TSO is so much better on stage.. I dont know if its TSO east or just the R&K show, but they sound reall really bad... They need to have pro videos of them on stage... I mean,, people in the Wiazrds in Witner cotnest played this song bettter then they just did right now... maybe im so used to tso west being so great.. i dont know... its hurt me to say this...

    -Jamez

  • I often wondered which troupe was better east or west. I would much rather have Al Pitrelli over Alex Scolinik as the guitar player...however watching all the youtube video's I think the east coast troupe is better than the west.

  • West is better than east sorry but its true. West is the CREATORS of TSO also Paul travels with West he came on stage at the Sacramento concert.

  • Really! The audio/video of the west coast shows to me just don't seem as dynamic as the east. How have you come to this conclusion that the West coast truope is better? Now I definitely need to make the trip out west to see the west coast troupe!

  • I have to stop looking at TSO comments cause it just pisses me off. Glad you all love the band so much. I do too, but shut up unless you know what you're talking about. The "CREATORS of TSO" is Savatage and its various members... including producer Paul O'Neill and studio keyboardist / arranger Bob Kinkel.

  • The EAST has the drummer Jeff Plate, guitarists Chris Caffrey and Alex Skolnick and keyboardist Bob Kinkel. Thats four "CREATORS". The WEST as I remember has guitarist Al Pitrelli, producer Paul O'Niell on guitar, bassist John Lee Middleton (sp?), and up until recent tours Savatage founder and keyboardist Jon Oliva. That's four "Creators". I personally wish all the "CREATORS" would do one tour. That would be the best, trust me. Or better yet... RISE UP SAVA-ARMY and bring on the 'TAGE!!!

  • Dude Alex Skolnick could out play Al Pitrelli with one hand tied behind his back!...Heh..Heh...

Alex Skolnick is a friggin guitar god!

  • Doubtful...

  • omg i saw them in concert 2 times. we had awesome seats. the bass player(David Z) is so HOT! i have all of their autographs and sum other stuff from the concert.

  • Doubtful?...Umm..

Have you ever heard of TESTAMENT TSOfan?

Soooo much better than Metallica ever thought

about being and came oout at the same time from

    the same town...

    Just didn't get as big....

Alex Skolnick is a founding member!

  • DUde do you even kno who these guys are ? That Is Paul Oneal in the center ( one of the founders of TSO) and Chris caffery on the left and Alex Scholnick on the right.

  • Can't wait to see them in DC on Dec 30, the last stop in the 06 Tour. New meaning to the words "They Rock!"
