  • Hot Tub Time Machine is a great movie...

  • the commentary would have been much better and much more enthusiastic if it were the sharks commentators. look up saves by Nabokov and you'll see what i mean. SHARKS FOR LIFE!!!!!

  • Wan a save by nabokov

  • DID YOU SEE THAT !!!

  • Nabokov is the most badass goalie in the history of th NHL...And this save fits that title right down to the fuckin letter!

  • @McArRuIzO More like most disappointing :|

  • I'm a stars fan and I was watching this live and I was absolutely amazed when I saw him save this. I thought it was a for sure game winner and he comes out of no where to glove it.

  • kool anyways nabokov is awesome

  • sick save. milan got smushed tho

  • lol they thought it was in, then the crowd shut up after they realized what happened

  • nabby just had to feel good after that, i always feel good after a huge save

  • It's so fun watching these two teams play against each other.

  • i wish san jose won that game..they would have tied teh seris at 3-3 and sent it to a game seven...and they could have kept the 33 year rule going..lol

  • @prestiethebestie yea well im glad the stars won that game. I am glad morrow got the winning goal after his goals were getting called no goal on ealier game. Go Stars!

  • what season was this?

  • the year detriot won the cup against pistburg..

  • havent you noticed that most of the amazing glove saves are from san jose

  • Ninja nabby

  • after making that save Nabokov is thinking in hes head " ya im just that good"

  • best game that i have ever seen

  • robbed mother fucker!@!@!@!@!@!!

  • heGoalieGuru:

How can you even trash talk about one of the greatest actual nhl goalie.

Nabokov wasn't there already he had to stretch down quickly to get to the puck in time.

It was a incredible save no matter what you think. Done in game 7 overtime pressure as well. by the way it was a onetimer slapshot from the crease !!! So youre wife would have shit her pants for sure.

i know my english is bad but you got the main idea.

  • Your English is fine!

However, this save was luck and only luck!

If he knew where the puck was going and intentionally made the glove save, why did he also stick out his leg?

    Hmmmmm!

  • because its bad form to dive over across the net, did u ever play hockey?

  • he didn't know for sure but his play was to cover the lower part of the net quickly as possible and by stretching the leg he give himself a chance to cover the middle and upper part at last second with his glove. Great save are made with great positioning techniques. And most of all a good goalie never quit. You really should watch some of his video on youtube and you will see that he has one of the greatest glove in the league.

  • GoalieGuru, for such a cocky name you know very little about goaltending. He stretched his leg across because he was moving his body over to make a save. What in the fuck was he going to do, leave his leg back at the other side of the net? Watch his helmut, he clearly looks where the puck is going and snatches it.

One suggestion - change your youtube account name

  • Yeah ... no. Was it lucky? Sure. But you make it sound like he was flailing around aimlessly and the fucking puck just managed to get into his webbing. No, he had a general idea where it was, he had a general idea who was there, what side he shot from, and a bunch of other split-second decisions that a goalie makes based on evidence. The greatest goalies of all-time probably weren't as athletic as guys who spent a career in the AHL ... but they combined what talent they had with instincts

  • Instincts that MOST humans enjoy!!!

How many average people who had other interests or had to work to pay the bills, can catch? MILLIONS UPON MILLIONS could have guessed the same way Nabokov did!! Don't kid yourself! He is human and is playing hockey not performing brain surgery!

I've seen Bantam goalies in tier three hockey make saves like that!

  • it was an instink of a goalie

  • Dude, you gotta tip your hat. Who cares if it was luck? Kudos to him for even getting across.

  • Ya, because you couldn't, and I and my 14 year old son couldn't have jumped to our left like that!

Wait I'll go try it on the driveway.....

NOPE! Couldn't do it! I got confused half way in the air and my body stopped!!!

    Give me a freakin break!

  • He was moving. You're better off having your leg there and/or your body then your glove and miss it by an inch.

  • Your English is fine!

    Your hockey instincts are terrible!

He stuck out his glove hoping to get it. He didn't see the puck in flight and make an adjustment to get it!

  • you do realize EVERY cross crease save is 90% luck right? they just dive across and hope they're in the right position...varlamov last year, nabokov, leclaire this year on tavares, even MIKE BRODEUR last night for the sens had one that was unbelievable but still....LUCK.

  • @noobinator156

Luck, sure. But still fantastic nonetheless.

  • great save,great hit

  • Ibelieve that sharks has one of the best Goalies in the NHL without a doubt

  • 100% agree with you

  • Goalie Guru- You didn't play in the NHL so you know NOTHING about the position!!

So.. if you have your Law degree and haven't been in any cases...you know NOTHING about LAW!! FYI-many Goalie Coach's have never played in the NHL or in th MINORS for that matter!-So please spare us.

  • "He tracked the puck"!!-some people are just hilarious! that wasn't AT ALL a technical save! what are people talking about??- that was out of desperation. I think that many of you don't know what a GREAT save is. That's what the Goalie Guru and myself are expressing. The technical save doesn't look desirable to the fan BUT to us it looks nothing but textbook and a joy to watch which many of you won't even see it on the radar.

  • Have you read your comments???- elementary to ignorance now. To read your comments"maybe he knew Richard's intentions"?? let me guess..you're such a fan! it kills me.

  • SenseOfReason-PLEASE PLEASE DON'T PUT BRODEUR EVEN IN THE SAME SENTENCE AS NABOKOV. If you even knew a touch about goaltending you should know you can't compare! stop embarrassing yourself.

  • How about: Both Brodeur and Nabokov are far better goaltenders than you, and know far more about the game than you ever will.

    That's a fact.

  • ASenseOfReason-you're really looking like you haven't played ball hockey let alone hockey!!-FYI Goaltenders from Houseleague to Junior WATCH goalies from the NHL and other Pro leagues!! not only to watch the good positional play but more importantly the BAD positional play. Not to take anything away from them but that's what Goalie Guru is trying to say. Just because you're in the NHL doesn't mean you can't learn from their mistakes-BECAUSE there's many! GG analysing is way over your head! sorry

  • I have a comment to make here!-although GoalieGuru is correct in saying that it wasn't a GREAT save. Because it really wasn't! Nabokov CAME across sprawling he wouldn't have been in that position in the FIRST PLACE if he didn't react first to the other shot. He went on his knees for no reason at all!! that being said Nabokov is a good technically sound goalie-but not to be judged on this SAVE! you see that is what the uneducated person/fan doesn't understand. TECHNIQUE!!!

  • The shot was blocked, not faked. He had to react to it. This was an unreal save.

  • Im a sharks fan. im not saying this becuase nabby just friggin rocks. and kicks all other goalies asses. BUt this save is the best save in AT LEAST the past 20 years.

  • Nope! A lucky save!

  • The greatest save in the history of the game.

and i'm not a san jose fan.

  • and it was overtime

  • Dont matter if it was a goal or no goal, it was fuking awsome.

  • Luck!

  • You create your own luck

  • Of course you do! But the KEY word you used was LUCK!

Thanks for agreeing with me that the save was LUCK!

  • it was LUCK that the puck went where it did but it was SKILL becuz he was in the right position and he reacted quickly. so it was about 75% skill 25% luck

  • You said...

"it was LUCK that the puck went where it did"

That means he was 100% lucky pal!!!

Again, there are Bantam goalies that move that quick!!!

  • Oh please just because it involved some luck you think that its all luck. Is it 100% luck when a team wins the stanley cup? is it 100% luck when a pilot lands a plane in bad weather conditions? Now forget those rhetorical questions and answer this. Are you sure your not just jealous?

  • Of course we are sure. we have TURCO! GO STARS!!! CUP IN 09!!!

  • You also agree with me that he created his own, takes skill to create luck like that, i dont think to many goalies at all could of created luck like that.

Im glad we are on par with each other

  • You really need to get over the fact that you weren't good enough to make it big. This was clutch, Richards with a perfect shot, Nabby with an insane save.

  • Luck only!

He just reached across and the player shot the puck and it went into the glove!

    That's what you don't understand!!!

  • Or maybe he knew Richard's tendancies and had a good idea where the puck was headed.

That's what the great goalies like Brodeur and Nabokov do at least.

  • well i'm very sorry you never were lucky enough to make it to the NHL.

Goaltending is similar to poker, you play the odds as best you can. Nobody is superhuman, but some people are better than others.

  • Thanks tips!

    Thanks genius!

How do you know so much about goaltending?

Do you know how many of those childish responses I get "sorry you're not in the NHL"

    Grow up!

  • Grow up?

Stop telling NHL goaltenders how to do their jobs when you can't do it yourself, or have any credibility with anyone who does play or coach at the NHL level.

Stop downplaying what they do to lower them to your inadequacies as a goaltender. Just because you have to guess, just because you get lucky, doesn't mean its all guessing and luck for these guys. There's a lot of skill at getting in the position to make a position save, and you have no right to discount that.

  • Maybe you should answer it for once. If you know so much about goaltending, why isn't nabokov commenting on videos of your saves about how lucky you are?

I don't pretend to be an expert on goaltending, I am a goalie, and I come from a very positional school of goaltending. Nabokov couldn't have made this save any other way. How would you have him make it?

  • Missing the point! This stop had more to do with luck than skill. Any goalie including you and me would have done the same thing. That is what you are not understanding.

This stop was lucky! Did he do well to get there? Yes, but again, nothing that you or I couldn't have done! The puck was shot into the glove he didn't SAVE it!

Saving and stopping are two diffrent things!

  • I understand that, but what I don't understand is how that takes away from the quality of the save. That should have gone in. Richards unleashed a rocket, Nabokov stretched out and robbed him with the glove.

Once again, there is a reason he has a multi-million dollar contract and is living the dream while you sit at home commenting on youtube videos.

  • Think before you talk. How is it even possible to say the puck was shot into his glove when Brad Richards one timed it into an open net. Nabokov happened to get over there quick enough and stretch out. He used parallel vision to be able to see the puck and Brad Richards over on that side of the net and understand what Brad Richards was going to do and have a general idea of where the puck was going. He saved it and that's what he's being payed millions of dollars for.

  • think before you respond!

If you honestly think that Nabokov tracked this puck and engineered the save and it wasn't more luck than skill, than you know zero about goaltending.

This was solely a desperation stop and nothing more.

My wife in a panic can jump to her left and reach out her arm! Heck, even my seven yer old son can jump to his left and stretch out his arm.

You have been fooled! As you call it, a million dollar goalie making a save that you could make!

    Stretch

    Reach

    Glove

  • Well, there's a reason why he's in the NHL doing it

and you're the wannabe talking shit about how anyone can do it.

Think before you respond? Follow your own advice.

  • I did think!

  • Your a fuckin idiot.

    Plain

    And

    Simple

  • Comment removed

  • when they pause the vid you can see the puck in his glove, and its in like just under half way.

  • Nabokov is cute!

  • mmhm

  • if the puck is in his glove and his glove is past the goal line it is a good goal.

It's NOT a goal under the circumstances that It was called a no goal and there is no conclusive evidence that It crossed the line.

If it was called a goal under this same circumstance, then it may have been called a goal. There wasn't enough evidence to prove if it was kept out or stayed in.

  • Actually the reason it was upheld as no goal, you can't see where the puck is. You have to actually see the puck itself cross all the way over the line. Couldn't see it, no goal.

  • pause at 1:05 the puck was half way in

  • the puck needs to be all the way in the net for it to be a goal.

    halfway doesn't count.

if you actually watch the video, it's clearly not a goal.

  • Fav goalie, fav save.

  • my favorite goalie making the best save on earth

  • good nabokov!

  • Can anyone tell me how Nabby didnt win the vezina and how brodeur did????Seriously wat did brodeur do to win the Vezina

  • yeah... marty's in the Eastern Conference. GMs have this Eastern Conference bias.... pretty pathetic.

I was hella pissed that Nabby didnt win it. Marty played on a crappier team (the argument of NJ fans) but how is that Nabby's fault? Nabokov was better goalie last year.

Does anyone else notice that Michalek is always the one who receives a check like that? Remember Raffi Torres' head-shot in 2006?

  • i know dude. i watched the entire award show, and was so disappointed when nabby didnt win.

  • I was shocked. nothing against Brodeur, I like him too but as a Sharks Fan I was really annoyed that Nabby got robbed. The Sharks will just have to win the cup and then all will be okay.

  • biggest save ever, worst commentary ever. Thats the kind of a save devervses explovive shouting. "SAVE! SAVE! SAVE! I dont believe it! I dont believe it!" Would be more like it.

  • yeah. that was it like the 3rd overtime. that game went on untill like 12:00 too. i thought it was never going to end.

  • are your speakers fucked or something? lol that was great commentary or maybe miraculous is not in your vocabulary.

  • @ddykema82834

    This is not soccer retard.

  • @masonbuchanan HAHAHA

  • @ddykema82834 The call was fine.

  • i dont think the puck went completly over the line

  • freeze it at 1:05 its past the crossbar but not the line

    most likely just the angle

  • because of the angle of the camera...

  • Clearly on the line, thus no goal.

  • The puck was on the line, not past it. Why would the ref's care what happens to the Sharks? They lost, anyway.

    Amazing save. =D

  • wrong sir.

for it to be a goal, the puck would have to be clearly all the way over the goal line..

the puck went onto the goal line..

    close but no cigar monica

  • gibsonz222, the puck has to be "conclusively over" the line to be a goal....it never crossed the line....so, you're dumb.

  • nabokov and turco were the reason that game went so long. they were both brilliant. unfortunately san jose took a penalty (bad call) and they lost. im a huge stars fan and that is still one of my favorite saves ever. pure genius

  • you are totally right dstar. turcos save after nabbbys was just as good, and its nice to see that you see that the penalty was not so good of a call (but dallas was taking over anyways)

  • It was a bad call. Unfortunately the Stars had the other end of the stick in the first OT I believe on a bad call, so it was a matter of making it up I suppose. Both teams had their chances, but neither really should have. It was fitting, however, that Morrow scored the GWG after his intensity kept the Stars in it.

  • no, he robbed us there

  • I can't believe Nabby made that save.

  • i can, he's dirrrrrty

  • I literally flipped when i saw this save, game of the playoffs easily.

Morrow for team Canada 2010 with fisher and mike richards!

  • that was the save of of the season and playoffs for sure.

  • Save of the year hands down

  • awesome save I can't believe it was no goal!

    Go sharks go!

  • nabby totally got robbed of the vezina this year

  • Martin Brodeur and Nabokov deserve it lundquist should stay out of the picture.

    Go Sharks!

    Go Devils!

  • that was a goal

  • your an idiot

  • so's your mom i bet nabby could make more saves than her

  • arent you a clever one oh wait i was saying that it was a save and not insulting nabokov in any way then you go and defend him? against someone who isnt insulting him or talking shit? sry i was wrong you are also an idiot :D

  • that's what your mom said exept she kept moaning it

  • To bad they lost. Nabby stole it and they gave it back

  • yep, his team let him down

he did all he could plus more (he had NO chance on the OT gaol that went in)

  • Best Playoff Game, respect 4 Sharks but i still "believe"

  • all I can say about that save is...

    LEGENDARY

    GO SHARKS

  • Evgeni Nabokov is the best goalie of all time, and that was a great save but unfurnatly the sharks lost that game however that was a show stopping save by evgeni he is one of my favorite player in the NHL.go evegni.thats money$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • best game ive seen in awhile

  • yo richards got ''robbed''

  • lol i love how u say Brenden Marrow is a "star" with quotations.

i wanted the sharks to win but Marrow played really well in this game. You can't say hes not a talented player

  • thats why nabokov will be your vezina trophy winner

  • Yeah I hope he or Lundqvist wins it instead of Broduer. I'm tired of him winning it.

  • dallas dont stand a chance against the redwings

  • Hey Hockey dude, that was not a goal, it did not crosss the line.

  • yeah but if the crossbar was further in front, the goal line is slanted so it would of crossed it

  • ya it was in it crossed the line and the crossbar was infront

  • thats a good point

  • I think this might be in. Look at the angle at 0:45. The camera can't be right above the goal, becuase you can see the goal line behind the cross bar, meaning that the camera must be angled above. Now, you see that Nabokov's glove is ON the goal line from our angle, move up about a foot. Wouldn't that mean that his glove is farther in?

  • Amazing save for an great game. Nabby did play that puck behind the net pretty poorly to set himself up for that.

  • Can you say ESPY?

  • ya no kidding. if thats not an ESPY then idk what is

  • I was freakin there! Morrow's hit was insane and this, my friends, was a goal. Analysts all said it was, refs said it wasn't... gay.

8th longest game in NHL history. Crazy

  • That was a goal? Wow, you must be seeing Stars my friend. I'll give you the congrats on the victory but this certainly was no goal.

    GO SHARKS... -- In 2008-2009 :(

  • Why not? If you notice the overhead camera is slightly behind the net. If it was directly overhead, the goal line would be under the cross-bar, and since it was that close, it can be disputed that it went in.

  • The analysts in this game literally said: "This is a save." And it was. It was an awesome save. I'm pulling for the Stars this year to, but honestly that is not a goal.

  • I'm a huge Stars fan myself, but that was not a goal.

  • wowo

  • what a nice/clean hit

  • No wonder the last game went 4 over times!!!

  • that is beyond highway robbery That was incredible i watched the whole game That is the save of the year for damn sure maybe for several years

  • Cuthbert ftw!

Great save btw. Too bad the Sharks lost

  • Amazing save, though it was irrelivant at the end of the day.

  • nice vid canes
