i wish san jose won that game..they would have tied teh seris at 3-3 and sent it to a game seven...and they could have kept the 33 year rule going..lol
@prestiethebestie yea well im glad the stars won that game. I am glad morrow got the winning goal after his goals were getting called no goal on ealier game. Go Stars!
How can you even trash talk about one of the greatest actual nhl goalie.
Nabokov wasn't there already he had to stretch down quickly to get to the puck in time.
It was a incredible save no matter what you think. Done in game 7 overtime pressure as well. by the way it was a onetimer slapshot from the crease !!! So youre wife would have shit her pants for sure.
i know my english is bad but you got the main idea.
he didn't know for sure but his play was to cover the lower part of the net quickly as possible and by stretching the leg he give himself a chance to cover the middle and upper part at last second with his glove. Great save are made with great positioning techniques. And most of all a good goalie never quit. You really should watch some of his video on youtube and you will see that he has one of the greatest glove in the league.
GoalieGuru, for such a cocky name you know very little about goaltending. He stretched his leg across because he was moving his body over to make a save. What in the fuck was he going to do, leave his leg back at the other side of the net? Watch his helmut, he clearly looks where the puck is going and snatches it.
Yeah ... no. Was it lucky? Sure. But you make it sound like he was flailing around aimlessly and the fucking puck just managed to get into his webbing. No, he had a general idea where it was, he had a general idea who was there, what side he shot from, and a bunch of other split-second decisions that a goalie makes based on evidence. The greatest goalies of all-time probably weren't as athletic as guys who spent a career in the AHL ... but they combined what talent they had with instincts
How many average people who had other interests or had to work to pay the bills, can catch? MILLIONS UPON MILLIONS could have guessed the same way Nabokov did!! Don't kid yourself! He is human and is playing hockey not performing brain surgery!
I've seen Bantam goalies in tier three hockey make saves like that!
you do realize EVERY cross crease save is 90% luck right? they just dive across and hope they're in the right position...varlamov last year, nabokov, leclaire this year on tavares, even MIKE BRODEUR last night for the sens had one that was unbelievable but still....LUCK.
Goalie Guru- You didn't play in the NHL so you know NOTHING about the position!!
So.. if you have your Law degree and haven't been in any cases...you know NOTHING about LAW!! FYI-many Goalie Coach's have never played in the NHL or in th MINORS for that matter!-So please spare us.
"He tracked the puck"!!-some people are just hilarious! that wasn't AT ALL a technical save! what are people talking about??- that was out of desperation. I think that many of you don't know what a GREAT save is. That's what the Goalie Guru and myself are expressing. The technical save doesn't look desirable to the fan BUT to us it looks nothing but textbook and a joy to watch which many of you won't even see it on the radar.
Have you read your comments???- elementary to ignorance now. To read your comments"maybe he knew Richard's intentions"?? let me guess..you're such a fan! it kills me.
SenseOfReason-PLEASE PLEASE DON'T PUT BRODEUR EVEN IN THE SAME SENTENCE AS NABOKOV. If you even knew a touch about goaltending you should know you can't compare! stop embarrassing yourself.
ASenseOfReason-you're really looking like you haven't played ball hockey let alone hockey!!-FYI Goaltenders from Houseleague to Junior WATCH goalies from the NHL and other Pro leagues!! not only to watch the good positional play but more importantly the BAD positional play. Not to take anything away from them but that's what Goalie Guru is trying to say. Just because you're in the NHL doesn't mean you can't learn from their mistakes-BECAUSE there's many! GG analysing is way over your head! sorry
I have a comment to make here!-although GoalieGuru is correct in saying that it wasn't a GREAT save. Because it really wasn't! Nabokov CAME across sprawling he wouldn't have been in that position in the FIRST PLACE if he didn't react first to the other shot. He went on his knees for no reason at all!! that being said Nabokov is a good technically sound goalie-but not to be judged on this SAVE! you see that is what the uneducated person/fan doesn't understand. TECHNIQUE!!!
Im a sharks fan. im not saying this becuase nabby just friggin rocks. and kicks all other goalies asses. BUt this save is the best save in AT LEAST the past 20 years.
it was LUCK that the puck went where it did but it was SKILL becuz he was in the right position and he reacted quickly. so it was about 75% skill 25% luck
Oh please just because it involved some luck you think that its all luck. Is it 100% luck when a team wins the stanley cup? is it 100% luck when a pilot lands a plane in bad weather conditions? Now forget those rhetorical questions and answer this. Are you sure your not just jealous?
You also agree with me that he created his own, takes skill to create luck like that, i dont think to many goalies at all could of created luck like that.
You really need to get over the fact that you weren't good enough to make it big. This was clutch, Richards with a perfect shot, Nabby with an insane save.

I don't pretend to be an expert on goaltending, I am a goalie, and I come from a very positional school of goaltending. Nabokov couldn't have made this save any other way. How would you have him make it?
Missing the point! This stop had more to do with luck than skill. Any goalie including you and me would have done the same thing. That is what you are not understanding.
This stop was lucky! Did he do well to get there? Yes, but again, nothing that you or I couldn't have done! The puck was shot into the glove he didn't SAVE it!
I understand that, but what I don't understand is how that takes away from the quality of the save. That should have gone in. Richards unleashed a rocket, Nabokov stretched out and robbed him with the glove.
Once again, there is a reason he has a multi-million dollar contract and is living the dream while you sit at home commenting on youtube videos.
Think before you talk. How is it even possible to say the puck was shot into his glove when Brad Richards one timed it into an open net. Nabokov happened to get over there quick enough and stretch out. He used parallel vision to be able to see the puck and Brad Richards over on that side of the net and understand what Brad Richards was going to do and have a general idea of where the puck was going. He saved it and that's what he's being payed millions of dollars for.
if the puck is in his glove and his glove is past the goal line it is a good goal.
It's NOT a goal under the circumstances that It was called a no goal and there is no conclusive evidence that It crossed the line.

you are totally right dstar. turcos save after nabbbys was just as good, and its nice to see that you see that the penalty was not so good of a call (but dallas was taking over anyways)
It was a bad call. Unfortunately the Stars had the other end of the stick in the first OT I believe on a bad call, so it was a matter of making it up I suppose. Both teams had their chances, but neither really should have. It was fitting, however, that Morrow scored the GWG after his intensity kept the Stars in it.
arent you a clever one oh wait i was saying that it was a save and not insulting nabokov in any way then you go and defend him? against someone who isnt insulting him or talking shit? sry i was wrong you are also an idiot :D
Evgeni Nabokov is the best goalie of all time, and that was a great save but unfurnatly the sharks lost that game however that was a show stopping save by evgeni he is one of my favorite player in the NHL.go evegni.thats money$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think this might be in. Look at the angle at 0:45. The camera can't be right above the goal, becuase you can see the goal line behind the cross bar, meaning that the camera must be angled above. Now, you see that Nabokov's glove is ON the goal line from our angle, move up about a foot. Wouldn't that mean that his glove is farther in?
Why not? If you notice the overhead camera is slightly behind the net. If it was directly overhead, the goal line would be under the cross-bar, and since it was that close, it can be disputed that it went in.
The analysts in this game literally said: "This is a save." And it was. It was an awesome save. I'm pulling for the Stars this year to, but honestly that is not a goal.

i wanted the sharks to win but Marrow played really well in this game. You can't say hes not a talented player

thats why nabokov will be your vezina trophy winner
DocM1724 3 years ago
Yeah I hope he or Lundqvist wins it instead of Broduer. I'm tired of him winning it.

Hey Hockey dude, that was not a goal, it did not crosss the line.
KennyDykstraFan14 3 years ago
yeah but if the crossbar was further in front, the goal line is slanted so it would of crossed it
footiemad87 3 years ago
ya it was in it crossed the line and the crossbar was infront
hockeydude778 3 years ago
thats a good point
footiemad87 3 years ago
I think this might be in. Look at the angle at 0:45. The camera can't be right above the goal, becuase you can see the goal line behind the cross bar, meaning that the camera must be angled above. Now, you see that Nabokov's glove is ON the goal line from our angle, move up about a foot. Wouldn't that mean that his glove is farther in?
PivotDude51895 3 years ago
Amazing save for an great game. Nabby did play that puck behind the net pretty poorly to set himself up for that.

I was freakin there! Morrow's hit was insane and this, my friends, was a goal. Analysts all said it was, refs said it wasn't... gay.
8th longest game in NHL history. Crazy
TEFL0NB0Y 3 years ago
That was a goal? Wow, you must be seeing Stars my friend. I'll give you the congrats on the victory but this certainly was no goal.
GO SHARKS... -- In 2008-2009 :(
27yankovic 3 years ago
Why not? If you notice the overhead camera is slightly behind the net. If it was directly overhead, the goal line would be under the cross-bar, and since it was that close, it can be disputed that it went in.
jayers2 3 years ago
The analysts in this game literally said: "This is a save." And it was. It was an awesome save. I'm pulling for the Stars this year to, but honestly that is not a goal.
bassist916 3 years ago
I'm a huge Stars fan myself, but that was not a goal.
