I just bought this Head, I am more versed in Southern Rock tones.I have a MESA QUAD Preamp , and a MESA simul 295 power amp. Had it for 4 long years,and after a while you look for something different as your styles change. I have had this head for a few hours now, and was able to get a Great TONE right off the bat. Although not as Bold, and KILLER in your face as the Boogie, but still a Great usableTONE that is Loud, and even, No wonder the Lynryd Skynryd guys use these.Its not just for metal.

@asianaxeman This amp can get really nice tones without any sort of boost at all. You just have to know how to dial it in.

@pmgallant ain't this i nice tone!? i don't get it...why should nice tones be with loads of distortion? I don't like the distortion of this amp past noon but on my new powerball ENGL I can put it almost in maximum and it sounds very good.

I guess it's a matter of taste or likeness.
