ha, not really... but its got that charm that sucked me in. it might've been the cheesy music that plays on every stage. Sarcasm was used pretty damn well though. the bottom line is that im one of the few that like to play the game.
I love this game too. This and Legendary Axe brought me to buy a TG back in the day. Most people dog it (and yeah the stages between bosses suck) but don't even know how to block and do super moves.
but not how to block punches.... i remember i sweared to beat the drunk jeeze at the end..... how do you block in this game?? ( other special movie??)
this game's gameplay is similar to Taito's 1986 side scrolling brawler called Gladiator. because like in Gladiator, you dodge random stuff being thrown at you, and periodically stop to fight enemies.
i hafta agree, i enjoyed the game. what sold me initially was its advertising, and during that period of gaming, it was considered cutting edge next to nintendo's kung fu
Shame that so many hate this game just because of its difficulty requiring memorization. I was 10 and I beat this, and I wasn't a good gamer back then. I just wasn't a bitch about losing. Oh and agree with the other guy about the drunken master. He handed me my ass many times.
I did buy it but I just didn't find it very interesting, and I disagree abou it being best. Since Kung Fu isn't up there on the VC, I prefer Vigilante to China Warrior.

I kinda liked it when it came out....
I remember the Big punch (getting hit twice)
and the "shotgun" (x3)

You have to try to hit at the same time as they do. If you do it right your character will block the hit.

I agree that this game is a bit underrated. That last boss is a pain in the ass though. He can heal himself by drinking his whiskey.
