although well acted, there are flaws in this video. Specifically the "D" section is inelegant to the CBT theory. The "D" section would be more about disputing grandiosity in Dr. Freud's thinking, how imperialistic his statements were and how he was using all or nothing thinking, instead the other dr pointed out external (current) findings about Freud's work. In addition, credit is given to Siegelman as if he invented the ABC model. That credit rightfully belongs to Dr. Albert Ellis.
the way Martin Seligman distinguishes between optimists and pessimists irks me a little. At least in the beginning of his book Learned optimism.
My friend unlike me blames others when something goes wrong. Yet I think very few would call him optimistic. He always complains, always tells me and others who annoys him the most at any given time. He is not depressed. So it might be true that people who blame other then themselves are more confident. But are they actually happier and more productive
I need a urgent answer, please! Why the f*ck i'm the only one that is optimistic from my familly and i'm still the single optimistic guy between all my friends. I'm the only one that haves to help them out emotionaly and psychologic. This was the first question, and the second one: Who the crap helpes me? Thak you for reading.
This guy, Martin Seligman, supports and takes part of animal torture using dogs in experimental labs. Why support him in any way? Let him know you do not approve. It is a fact that invitro and computer testing works better.
Ach du lieber Gott! Ze zount coult use ein boost! Ich coult naught hear it as vell as I vouldt! After oll, I am 154 years olt zis year (born in 1856)! Und mein hearink ist naught vhat it used to be. Front-loaded with a lot of cutesy-wootsey straw-man psuedo-knowledge, and we know from Judith Herman's history that Freud was doing a huge end-run around direct confrontation with "the party that pays" ...
The ABCDE principle seems refreshing and could be put forward a lot clearer.
Distraction/Disputation -- the process of moving from the preconscious to acceptance ???
Optimism, if directed at the right goals, is a good end. There are a lot of things one will never win, however.
You are referring to a brilliant psychologist who helped paved the way and studies of all past and future psychologist. This man by me is greatly respected, and I model his theory
This HAS to be the best video I have ever seen from one of Jerome's projects! This is sooo entertaining that even people outside the field will get a kick out of it! What talent you have!!

Why? Seligman has capitalized on ideas central to Buddhism; and tortures Dogs for his experiments.

Thank God not many of those types end up in therapy, unless they're dragged in kicking and screaming by their desperate wives.
