  • Tjena!

Jag är intresserad av att köpa ett sånt här monster! 2008 modell.

Är det nått jag bör veta, nått jag behöver kolla efter, Fel etc.

    Hör av dig! mvh Andreas

  • Such a high speed, he is not afraid burning engine? ? ! !

  • I'm getting one next year. Can't wait, i'll post my video of the first drive.

  • Does the car pulls harder with 3 persons inside? I mean you can be disapointed by that or it's perfectely ok?

  • this my sound very stupid and ignorant but the Stephonic gear shifter, does it change the gears automatically like an automatic car?

  • what do you mean by DCT Double Clutch 1/2, half a clutch? lol

  • @CartridgeZone maybe part 1 of 2???

    -.-

  • I have a questino for current DCT owners:

If you're in manual mode, and you rev it to redline, will it autoshift to the next gear? Likewise, hitting to low of RPM it will downshift? My current 335i's auto tranny does this. Just wondering. Thank you in advanced!

  • @Yag1296742

I keep my Toy BMW right in front of me to help motivate me late nights when I'm working and trudging through finishing school. I am fortunate enough to have hit my big break recently, and I'm looking forward to doing euro delivery in Sept of a new M3 coupe. Hard work pays off! :]

  • WHATS WITH THE CAMERA CUTTING?

  • Actually used to drive an E92 M3 with the DSG gearbox. It's still not amazing but it's a hell of a lot better than the SMG system.

  • I isnt automatic! its DKG. Its faster and smoother than ever! faster than any gearbox. Even tho manual gearbox is cool..

  • Why would anyone buy a m3 with automatic gear?

  • cuz they don't know how to drive

  • Ironcic coming from an american, a country with far more autos than manuals.

  • True, but take a look around here all you see are trucks, minivans, and large sedans so there's a reason why... Now talk about an M3 with DTC and theres something wrong

  • There is statistically more auto bmw's on the road than manuals. Even supercars seem to go mainly for the automatic route, the Bugatti Veyron for example is an auto, not even sure if its available as a manual.

  • @gerv55

veyron is not a sportscar, it is huge luxury gt.

And most people do not buy expensive supercars for the driving experience.

And btw one can easily fuck things up in a 1000hp supercar, if does the shifting the wrong way.

  • @kapufa Makes little difference its still an automated transmission nomater what way you slice it,

  • @gerv55

    thats quite a big difference

  • @kapufa Well look at it this how, how many cars don't have the option of an autobox of some description? A ferrari can easily be classed as a sportscar and looking at used ferrari;s in europe at least theres a ton more automatics than manuals.

  • because its faster then the stickshift.

  • @ferrucc1o

sports car are manual or semi-automatic sequential.

Automatics may be a little faster, but they can not guess when exactly you would like to shift...

  • @kapufa listen, its dual clutch you can tell it when to shift, please do your research. its faster then a 6spd around corners, on straights, why do you think ferrari, porsche, and lamborghini use it... ;-)

  • @ferrucc1o

and did not i say the same? :)

most of those sportscar uses semiautamtic, "clutchless" electrohydraulic transmissions, wich can be operated aoutonomously by the computer. But if on wants to run a perfect lap, one can and shall shift manually. (and usually the transmission can be operated only sequentially)

Those things has nothing to do with the common auto-tranny based on planetary geartrains...

  • @kapufa well then we just argued the same point lol.

  • because of the tiptronic ;)

  • I love the DCT, but I would need a MT.

  • sei il mio cuore bmw m3

  • AMAZING gearbox, BRAVO BMW

  • can you put the DCT on N while driving at a certain speed? cuz I do like 'vrum vrum shift' while driving :P

  • spoken like someone who's never driven an e90

  • i dont need to drive it to see the dashboards crapy design, with chirs bangle leaving bmw new 7 and 5 series are awesome from outside and inside and they have finaly again returned to the cockpit curved to the driver not the wall like flat boring cockpit designs as seen in 3,5 and 7series from 2000 to now. cant wait to see the current 3 series replaced by new one not designed by bangle.

  • lighter, more power, more torque, less emmisions, more Revs.....what more do you want?

  • what? Like for like the 335i engine is better. Okay its got less bhp and torque but bmw have restricted this engine. Its far quicker than what bmw publish. 0-60 MPH is 4.9 sec on 335i. I think M3 V8 is 4.5 and i know M3 will pull better after that. But we are talking about an M Sport Engine. The 335i is an everyday engine. And the 335i is more economical. Still gotta love the m3 tho.

  • @dalesteel

Having come from a Jb3 tuned 335i to an E90 M3, my opinion is that the S65 V8 is the "better" engine. The N54 I6 is exactly what you said; an everyday economical engine with a lot of power potential. However, the S65 positively oozes with passion and mechanical beauty. Being an M engine, it has a very specific goal: To be a very high specific output N/A race engine; which it accomplishes beautifully. It pulls harder and harder all the way to a high red line. 335i cant dream of that.

  • I agree. Thats why I have bought a e60 M5. V10. The m cars out handle everything. But 335i is still a brilliant car/engine.

  • @dalesteel v8 4.0L

  • Ah Europeans . The craziest drivers in the world. :) Beautiful car btw.

  • They are Swedish :)

  • can u use this to drive full auto ????

  • Yes, you can drive this in full automatic mode. The M-DCT has two options with one vaiant: Full Automatic; or manual using either the paddles to shift or the shift lever. Whether in auto or manual mode, the tranny automatically drops to first gear when you come to a stop. It is a great transmission and shift are incredible fast. The engine rev matches on downshifts as well.

  • wait so if your in full auto you still have to paddle shift

  • If you are in full automatic you do not have to shift. Period.

  • ok thx man

  • Comment removed

  • so no i thought u said u can

  • yes u can

  • Their english isn't bad at all. I've heard worse.

  • man these guys talk bad english. I'm actually embarresd to be swedish when I hear them talk english

  • You dont need to be :)

Det är bara svenskar som klagar på det, så du behöver inte bry dig :)

  • yeah understand that. ja hatar o säga de men varje snubbe ja hör i era filmer snackar riktig svengelska. great movies btw

  • Comment removed

  • @shooter930414

First of all, you should be embarrassed about your own English. You don't say "to talk bad english", instead, "to speak bad English" is correct, according to the English language grammar. That is, with a capital E in English. Swedish is always spelled with a capital S. Secondly, you have misspelled embarrassed...

  • impressive! but will miss double shifting using the clutch!! lol which make adorable noise with the M3

  • You should.. erm... read the title and do some research

  • stick all the way.... i have an e92 m3 and i really enjoy being the one to shift not a computer personally.... but dct is very fast

  • im looking to make a purchase soon & can't decide between corvette z06 or the m3 DCT . both great cars in their own way.

  • M3 ,what more to say :D

  • just bought an m3 with DCT, you can't go wrong. More creature comforts with performance then you will ever get from a corvette. Plus the tranny has some crazy quick shifts! no jerky movement between gears.

  • ive already decided m3! what color do you believe is best? the dealerships in my area never seem to have the color/option combos that I want. if it's already on the lot i'll get a better deal.

  • go for either white, Jerez Black. Red interior or black. It looks sick!

  • dont be retard m3

  • that was pretty smooth and fast

    nice

  • Can you feel the gear changes in the DCT?

  • yes you can. you can feel the clutch let in and out; you can also change the speed/intensity of the shifts from soft to aggressive (M mode is most aggressive)

  • Behave.

  • Does anybody know how this DCT transmission compares to Audi's DSG? They both seem like great tranny's. If anyone could let me know & even explain why one is better than the other including the differences, that would be great. Thanks alot

  • I have a DSG.. it's fast in gear changes and decent fast when downshifting.. only 3 modes.. Drive , sport, and manual.. the problem is that after it had some mileage (40k miles) started to shift jerky at low speeds and needed to be reset (many peolpe had other similar issues) so the DSG is not much reliable in time..

this DTC instead seems having more "settingns" and seems more reliable in time and refined than DSG..

it was me i would go for the BMW over the DSG...

  • Thanks alot =)

  • The DCT was taken from formula 1 tech. I own one of these and I have also driven the Audi which is almost as good. But I think the bmw is more refined.

  • Much better than the SMG. Smother and faster changes.

  • mid-life crisis, they're all old!!

  • Who?

  • I'm just kidding, it's just that all of the test drivers are middle-age, proving BMWs (or specifically the M3) are expensive indeed.

  • Because M3's are expensive, not that many young people in 18-23 can afford one.

  • im 28 & cant afford an m3,,,, one day

  • i'm 21 & can't afford it either

  • @tubegangsta well ill be probably approaching my 30ies when i can afford smth like this so yea no hate

  • that doesnt make sense, how can the change be fast if there is a delay?

  • You push the lever and the change isn't instant. You wait maybe 0,5s and then it happens, and yes I have to admit the actual change between gears is fast. But the delay between pushing the lever and gearbox starting to change the gear is very dissapointing. It just takes the fun and feeling that you are part of a car, that you are connecting, it just feels like playstation gran turismo. Old SMGs were so damn good, brutal and fast..

  • you do know that you can change how fast you want the gears to change? theres 6 different speeds with the 6th being the fastest and 1st being the slowest.

  • yes, but the delay doesn't change very much.

  • I had a question. On some forums I've found, that the DKG has a lag when starting from a standstill, no matter what kind of shifting program you're in. It's supposed to be as long as 1 second. Can you confirm this? Thanks.

  • the m3 still looks more beastly than the c 63 idk what anyone says

  • all the us dct drivers should get the 31.1 software update!!

  • That will make the downshifts better?

    Did you visit m3e90board(.)com?

  • DKG=Doppel Kupplungsgetriebe which means in english

    DCT= Double clutch transmission

  • DKG is the german acronym for the system.

  • Really smooth in both paddle shift mode and automatic mode. BMW really needs to get the DKG in the M5 and M6.

  • i like the m6 tranny better--i like the jerky tranny more, it puts your head where it needs to be: on the head rest!

  • probably you dont have M6 otherwise you will not say this bullshit, I tried M6 and even my 700hp viper is not braking my neck as M6 at fast speed shifts(not M mode is nice)... Btw I will collect my M3 with DCT this friday :)

  • does the double clutch transmission come with an automatic button/mode so no manual shifting is required?

  • of course, it's default and then you want - manual shifting on knob or shift paddles at stearing wheel.

  • yes

  • It depends if you have the power between 6000-7500 you need more gear because when the RPMS fall to 5000 you lose many power and many time.

If the RPMS have power between 5000-7500 with 6 gears is OK.

  • how many gears? 7?

  • Correct.

  • why not 6? doesn't having 6 allow the car's power output to be more compressed? distributed more within fewer gears?

  • Which gives you worse acceleration. Morte gears lets you have the RPMs within the powerband.

  • Hello M5boarddotcom!! Can this gearbox kick you up to the same top speed as the SMGIII if you would have about the same power as a Kelleners M6??

  • Hello! I beleive it cna shift faster than the SMGIII since the gear is already engaged.

    Gustav

  • I mean-- Can you reach the same top speed with the DKG that you can with the SMGIII???

  • You mean top speed?

  • can't wait, the csl (hopefully in the makes) will rape like pedobear

  • Does it 'press the clutch' automaticly when standing stil? So, when releasing the break in D, does it start rolling or does it keeps standing still?

  • Both DCT and Manual behave the same mechanism - hill brake assist. Basically on even the slightest gradient, the car keeps the brakes engaged for 3 seconds after you take your foot off the brake.

  • So, after those 3 seconds, does the car starts to roll or does it still stand stil than?

  • It will start to roll, how much of course depends on the gradient.

  • Sounds quite logical.

So, after the 3 seconds it will still stand stil when the gradient is 0, is that correct?

  • love this. i just watched the bmw training video for this. it has three gear shafts as opposed to the standard 2 on a manual. One shaft has the even gears while the other has the odd. So one clutch applies while the other is releasing, seamless gear changes and POWER application NOW. Sorry to say but this punts manuals in their sore spot....the clutch pedal. however i still prefer a manual but this is great!!!

  • The power button on an M5,M6 releases an extra 100 bhp, what about the same button on an M3, anyone know??

  • sharp throttle response, any other pre-set preferences and steering response

  • no, no bhp M button!!!

  • Its actually good ;)

  • Yea I see and heard!!!

  • Gustav, I've heard that the M3 is very good but the steering doesn't have a lot of feel, is this true?

  • The BMW M3 has better steering feel than the BMW M5.

  • that's odd because I have heard some reviews that say the M3 steering feels gluey and that the M5 is perfectly weighted.

  • can`t wait to see faststart! no 1 wants to show it! my friend buy same car (m3 dkg) first dkg m3 in Moscow(post videos soon)/ he go 1.7 km and don`t want to use lunch control too!))

  • Great, go to m3e90board dotcom!

  • what are the specs of this M3 in auto mode? same 0-60 and 1/4 mile? or little less?

  • BMW quote 0-100km/hr is 0.2s faster with the DKG. The small amount of magazine testing that has been conducted to date confirms this.

  • or is it ?

  • it is.

  • never mind about me asking how's the auto mode in the new m3, i wasnt patient enough, it's in the video.

  • wow, its impressive how it changes gear seamlessly like that ... no "hit" as u change ... impressive ... i wonder how is the car in auto mode ... hmmm

  • half the fun is the hit

  • Awesome! I am going to order one to replace my GT500!

  • You should!

  • I hate to see an M3 without manual transmission, but this twin clutch seems quite impressive...

  • It is very impressive.

  • very good, hope i will se it soon in the m5 and m6 :)

  • I like Double Clutch (Doppelkupplungsgetriebe) =D

  • Me too :D

  • have any of you guys learned sumkind of an advanced control system?if u do,then it would explain everything that the engineers at BWM are doin

  • I do not follow you.

  • Is there some kind of a launch control included, or it's just 'floor it and go'?

  • There is a Launch Control.

  • Once again, BMW M3 is best in class. Also, with slightly less horsepower and less toruqe than its competition and still manages to beat them in a striaght, track, and braking. No wonder theres a HUGE waiting list for this car. Right under that is the 135i on orders. The new clutch system is great, reminds me of Audi's DSG.

  • Yes, the new DKG is perfect.

  • ok so im kinda confuzed is both automatic and manual?

  • It is a double clutch with automatic shift mode progra.

  • Do you know if this improves its 0-62MPH time?

  • If your asking about the Double clutch then yea the double clutch transmission should improve 0-62 since it shifts way faster than any other transmission out there. The only problem was that people thought you wouldn't be able to downshift two times but i believe Gustav from M5board proved this wrong.

  • We tested the E92 M3 in manual only, we didn't get the DKG model yet. Actually we aren't even going to get the DKG M3, because its already out of Manufacture Testing Period. But, good news is that we have 2 M5's reserved for testing. I mean the new ones, which is probably Twin-Turbo'd. We see.

  • twin turbo?!?! is this from BMW themselves? Or the ESS TT project?

  • Its been spied, we've heard things of this new M5. Like if you search Spied M5 Turbo or along those words, you will find it.

Either way, its defiantly going to beat its Mercedes, Audi, and Cadillac competition. If Currency Motors got 810HP from twin-turbos than its their game to set it.

  • do you think they will put this same transmission in the m5 and m6 later on?

  • I dont think so...they are quite late into their production cycles...probably in the next generation

  • I agree.

  • What about reaction time,

I mean as soon I pressed the paddle shift on the wheel, how long does it take to respond.

    Say if about 250ms for an aston V8,and 100ms for a 599

  • That is not the reaction time, hat is the full shiftprocess I beleive?

  • getriebe :]

  • What did he run over mid-corner that caused the passenger to headbutt him? I think it was the 7th gear in the new DSG gearbox.

  • I beleive a bump!

  • Hi, your forum is for BMW owners only, or enthusiasts that do not own a BMW can join and participate to?

    Kind regards.

  • It is for serious and mature enthusiasts as well.

  • why would you get a car like that in automtic

  • It's not automatic...

  • Any official figures about shift time?

    should be less than 150ms???

  • Maybe 0 s?

  • It has two clutches there is no shift time...

  • its just like a automatic. you cant have fun in it
