@supremeG1000 dude. sound that word out. that is how you spell it. tell me where the i is? didnt think so. and why you gotta say american. people here say it like that too and its aggravating.
@godhater11 Because American's are the people on the planet who say aluminium like that. And yes in fact if you look in an oxford dictionary it is Aluminium. So there.
@supremeG1000 You two should research the reason WHY americans say aluminum instead of aluminium, or even how it was first called alumium, or how it was at one time listed in a dictionary as aluminum around the time when it was being renamed.
Anyway, excellent knife, I love the polish of the blade and the choice of steel. Great review! :D
itll chip too easily. the carbon content is too high for such a small piece. good for cutting, but no heavy work will get you through the day with brittle jap blades.
Beautiful knife ready to collect dust in a collection .
For the money you can buy a good useful Benchmade and feed an African village for a year -- not that I care about starving African babies or anything like that ..
no doubt a very good looking knife, however it's not a design that I particularly love. There are many other knives out there in my opinion that would perform just a well as that one for less than a quarter the cost. For instance the Benchmade Onslaught I think looks better and could perform better, but that is just my opinion. I do love the mirror finish though, that definitely looks pretty sweet
how do you sharpen it if it has coating on it? Doesnt coating make it more dull? because coating takes around 0.002 - 0.007 mm, on both sides. I wonder how dou you sharpen it...
It is a very beautiful knife, and I looked at it on Heinnie, and it is damn expensive! I only wish I could afford that sort of money for a knife. I suppose I will treat myself one day. How has the knife been and what use have you had?
No doubt it`s well made, But, Not seven hundred pounds well made, All aluminium handle ( Cheapest, Most abundant metal on earth ) With a good steel blade, With some hard coated finish on it, Well, You can buy lots of knives with very good steel, For a fraction of that price, And if well used, The coating will look tatty, With a true polished finished blade, When worn or scratched, You can simply re polish out the marks
hi, im looking a buying the tei zdp189,but also i looked at dlc version.... now considering the price of these blades and also being a small collector i did'nt want a working blade.so buy doing further research i discovered the zdp is no way septable to any rust whatsoever... plus i did'nt want a blade 'dlc' that was coated !! not only that but only 3micron's.... i know the zdp is more monies but it is all powder stainless the perfect steel plus you still get that beautiful mirror finish.
@wipeouthd1. The ZDP 189 steel is slightley harder than YXR7 but overall the YXR7 steel is superior in terms of overall quality ie. hardness, toughness etc. with the YXR-7 steel you can chop bamboo, while ZDP189 blades are not sutable for tough use, so that is one of my decision not to buy ZDP version.
A standard blade steel will chip with higher hardness than 62hrc but the YXR7 steel have wonderfull properties. YXR-7 steel has hardness of 65hrc and very tough, the toughness prevents chipping. Rockstead knife blades are all polished to the edge which also prevents chipping. i hope it answers ur questions
I thought the blade steel was DLT571? Not really sure of the differences between that and YXR7. HRC is 65 on both I think apart from on the Alumite coated DLT571 which is HRC 68! Either way, I want one! I'll take a Rockstead Rei as well!
@kunstsein Thats right, i would not sharpen the knife my self. you dont need to sharpen this knife very often because i does not lose its edge. Rockstead claims it would take 2 years of regular use before you need to sharpen the knife. i would send it back to Rockstead to sharpen the knife as Rockstead advises not to use cheap stones to sharpen the knife. The cost of knife is around $1300 USD and they dont make loots of these knife. the making process takes a lot of time.
Comparing this knife to a rolex is insult to Rockstead. Try something like Patek Philippe or A. Lange & Söhne and you're getting close. Wonderful blade!
Good video mate,I got a Rockstead Tei DLC.I am also a collector I too think Rocktead are The Best there is too.Better than Chris Reeve Strider etc,but much more cash to pay out too
Beautiful but it look so 80´s

i suggest a recon tanto or a good ol s%w specs, black, or extreme ops. those will last forever and cut through almost anything.

Does the 65 hardness mean it will chip easily? I find my knives from Falkniven chip very easily especially when the blade is hard

DLT571 IS ANOTHER NAME FOR YXR7 STEEL. ITS THE SAME STEEL.

I would been scared to sharpen it myself. And would also be scared to give it away to a sharpener. Great blade but way out of my means. Sadly.
