Why do the british don't like the Americans? Just curious, I've seen some comment while looking up some old ska videos and was surprise to see those comment.
@bronxsea The question really, is, does anyone dislike Americans for good reasons?
No one can justify disliking someone for where they were born
But it is perfectly sound to dislike enablers for mouthing the propaganda of the war machine, paying tax money to tyrants who would control the globe, and only ever complaining -that they have to pay taxes-, not -about what the money is spent on-
Everyone who does not fit that description should never have to listen to criticism, but fat chance of that

I loved this, it came out just as my days of violence and crime was coming to an end, i fondly look back on this as the end of my teenage years.
i am not proud of the violence and crime i caused in the late 1970s, i am just grateful that i did well out of it and never paid the price, changed my life around and am now a successful businessman who employs 14 people, any of them steal from me and they are up in court.
I call myself a Punk trained businessman, i no the ropes, i no the laws
My mom heard me listening to this back in '81 and told me it had such a great message - that really freaked me out! She actually listened to the lyrics and agreed! (That was pretty big, then)...

lyrics fuckin brilliant, I think that what was summed up the whole Punk/ New wave thing, The lyrics came out of the Thatcherite Britain of the early eighties "ain't he cute, no he ain't, he's just another burden on the welfare state"
i was an american going to university in london from 78-80. Actually saw this on the telly in 1979. what a time to be in london - specials, ska, selecter, 2-tone records, clash, elvis c., tubeway army. sex pistols, what a time. boy does this bring back great memories.
the specials are quality and love them and been brought up on ska and mod music and would change the experience for the world me to all the mods out there carry on. we are the mods we are the mods we are we are the mods !!!!!!!

Ha , now im 15 and i abso love the specials ! I love most modern music but ska just sticks out and i think is just amazing ! Like if your bored of the "dont get married at 16" comments , just listen to the music and enjoy the music !
a lesson to all those youing girls out there who think that its ok to get married at 16yrs old and then your life is gone forever, changed completely. even worse if your man is a rongun and does not support you
@bigwillakingkilla no read what i said , i said dont get married at 16 cos ur lifes gone before you know it, and its even worse if your man wants to hang out with his mates and leave you all alone to bring up the family you and him created, simply cos you are too young and life changes ok

you dont need to bring back ska, its never left still people supporting their much loved scene, im 20 i love older music because its nice to see that the youth back then had vibrance its funny how technology has changed the instruments we use to make our new sounds have changed so have even the drugs the youth still have vibrance its always a middle finger to authority! I love it big vibez!
to answer the other guy... It would be hard to find this many guys who are this good. I live in a city and i cant find anyone to jam with. it's wierd. Fate?
Damn! I remember this and I don't mean this song - I mean the Specials on The Old Grey Whistle Test!! Now that makes me feel old. I can remember my mother letting me stay up late to watch this. The next thing she let me stay up for was the Tygers of Pan Tang playing Love Potion No.9 hahaha.
I am not sure whether anyone could form a group these days based on The Specials. I mean, Ska, had its place, its time and place. The moment was just right for that music. I would love to see it make a comeback, The Specials were just that, very special. Brilliant talented band throughout the group. But, to bring back Ska now...not sure.about that, as some people will say music has moved on. This kills two birds with one stone, brilliant music and brilliant for race relations too.
Secret Affair pIay their 30th Anniversary show @ The Camden Centre, Kings X, May 30th. They aIso appeared on The OId Grey WhistIe Test suited and booted in 1979.
...an awesome UK band from the fantastic 80's when SKA ruled...All SKA /rock steady beat bands had very explicit anti-establishmentary lyrics directed specifically to the governments of the day BUT all of them dressed well, in suits & ties & in many occassions wore hats or bowlers...
In the terms the word 'oi!' was used, its not a word as such, 'oi!' is a genre of music that origionated around the late 70's generally based around two tone Ska and Brit Rock

EatMyPwn - good work on the slap-down!The truth of the matter is thata lot of the problems with the teens now are as a direct result of the previous generation - mine! Successive government policies didn't help, but it starts in the home.
Us teens are not at all that bad, the media, as with everything just sensationalises the stories about us teens especially popular crappy news papers such as 'The Sun'
The reason kids are fucked up as bad as they are now is because, their parents allowed it to happen, and so did the governement. Don't put the blame on the kids, they weren't born into the world monsters! and by the way im 16 im have tonnes more sense then you by the seems of it. Now, instead of passing off blame try becoming perfect youself?
To the ignorant News of the World reader: Gain some knowledge of the world before you start spreading patronising messages to "all the teenagers today". Cunt.
I WAS THERE back in the day and there was such a buzz in cov..i went to barr's hill school and nevills kids went there so we would see him from time to time and terry hall around cov all th time,....All of the songs could have been written today..thats why they are timeless too much to young !totally before its time look at the kids wiv a belly full of arms and legs livin off tax payers !! any way saw neville in the pound shop down jubilee crecent still keepin it real glad for them all .enjoy!
I love how he said this would be their next single but they wouldn't play it on the radio. How lame is that?!! Are the censors afraid they'd offend people who whore around? lol...seriously, though?
This was a very political song for its time. Birth control was controversial and the UK was having problems fighting an economic downturn. If you read into the song, they are saying its cool to sleep around and have fun when you're young just wear some protection and don't get married, have fun while you can.
the enemy have lyrics that talk about how the world is today, there the next generation, there taking over from oasis mate, give them a listen, this song is a class song and if u listen it tell u a message aswell.
you can fuck right off with the enemy, comparing the specials with the enemy, fuck right off, the enemy are like kasabian, and oasis, ripping off a whole music genre, only oasis did it with a bit of who gives a fuck attitude! the enemy are just that, the fucking enemy!!!!

You having a fucking joke matey?
The reason kids are fucked up as bad as they are now is because, their parents allowed it to happen, and so did the governement. Don't put the blame on the kids, they weren't born into the world monsters! and by the way im 16 im have tonnes more sense then you by the seems of it. Now, instead of passing off blame try becoming perfect youself?

To the ignorant News of the World reader: Gain some knowledge of the world before you start spreading patronising messages to "all the teenagers today". Cunt.
