Hi there, I'm from Brazil so sorry about my English.
I saw your explanation on how to zoom in and zoom out, but for some reason on my keyboard does not work when I press the key command plus the key arrow. Is there any confuguration to be made in Logic to unlock this shortcut? Thank you.
hey just wanted to say, I have been struggling for some time- Im horrible with software based music production but its soo much cleaner than my Fantom workstation products- hoping you could answer a couple questions for me may covering; loading entire songs and using the sample editor effectively- I have a sinatra song i want to chop into manageable chunks and assign to keys but its giving me a hard time. I have LOGIC Pro 9- thanks in advance.
@guitarsalert I first learned that trick in garageband and I just downloaded logic 9 and I see the controls are quite the same. Hold down the option key, and on your magic mouse (if you have one) scroll to the right with your finger to make the grid lines longer, and to shorten them slide your finger to the left. To make them higher and shorter it's up/down finger motion.
hey i would really appreciate it if someone who reads this could check out my channel - i make things with logic and post a new video of something i've made generally every week, thanks :)
@TheAir084 Logic is widely thought to be the most complicated music production program enabling you to do things no other program can do really, fruity loops is a user friendly but very versatile and adequate production program, reason is on par with cubase very good but not for beginners and not as user friendly as they could be because they are not really designed for beginners
let's say that i want to start off a track with a drumbeat. i open up an instrument and play a short riff and record it. but let's say that my timing when i did it wasn't completely perfect. instead of having to open up the editor on the bottom and fool around with each of the notes to make them the perfect length, is there a way instead to do it much faster?
i'm positive that producers don't have the time to edit tracks like that, so there must be a way...
@ddm881 I don't know if you have figured this out by now, two weeks after your post, but on the off chance that you haven't, what you are trying to do is called "quantizing". google it.
I have an issue, i just got logic pro and i can't hear what i'm recording, i bring up the piano on the key board, i also plug in my key board but it play back anything through the head phones or speakers, it shows what i played on screen but I cant hear it
Can you tell me how can i change an vst? i mean that i dont know how if i have a drum machine in a track how can i disable the drum machine and put a synth vst... tnx!
By the way, I personally have never used 'logic', until now I've been working on low grade softwares, the last one I have been using is "Mix craft 5" , along with a BOSS GT10,
You can check some of my work on my channel.
But nw I wanna upgrade myself, d only problem is logic is expensive;m just scared whether I'll be able to cope up with it. plz suggest sumthing

One misterious question :D i want to install Mac os x on pc :) Hackintos but when i install that,Logic Pro will give a worse sound or ok?because the PC has a different configuration than the mac???? thanks
@TheDJT124 What I always tell people is this.. It doesn't matter what DAW you use but HOW you use it! For me Logic is much easier to use and gets me to where I want to go faster. @HIYAHLINKZ double click the sample. Then go to audio. Then convert to new sampler track. Then open piano roll (or matrix) If this dont work. Edit the sample first) I often use the sampler in all of my work. email me if u have any more q's even if they seem simple. australiandj at the usual.U can also try working in low latency mode if u have a crowded system. ;-) hope I helped.
Hey man, helpful straight forward tuts, thanks a lot. Do you have any information on midi controllers, for example, I have an Akai MPK88 and I enjoy using the record, play, stop buttons on the controller... does Logic Auto map these buttons?

@DJIsaac323 this is an AMAZING program to make any style of music... Especially electronic music... One of my favorite software to use to make electronic music!
@armsoviet1 the best thing you can do is pick one DAW and go with it... Either ProTool, Logic are very good ones to begin with... If you are into remixing and live production then you might want to think about Ableton Live!!!!
thanks a lot for your video, I have been djin, only mixing tracks..but just recently became interested in producing remixes..and also making some of my own tracks......what is like the main difference between Logic and abelton?
thanks a lot for your video, I have been djin, only mixing tracks..but just recently became interested in producing remixes..and also making some of my own tracks......what is like the main difference between Logic and abelton?
@armsoviet1 You have a mac and used Garageband and then you switch to Fruityloops instead of logic, allow me to laugh. Seriously man you just skipped the best program ever made if you ask me.
@armsoviet1 Logic on the mac use something called Audio Units, it's their code for VST and most VST's are for both formats. You just have to search for Vanguard AU Mac OSX and so on to find that version. Or whatever AU you want, I just took the vanguard synth as an example of course. Fruity loops is buggy, clipping, and unstable if you ask me, whole PC for me have always felt unstable. So go back and give it a try, but get GURU for it from Fxpansion, a great little drummachine to make beats in.
@armsoviet1 Wow that's a lot of programs you use there, must be rich. It is best just to use a program that suits you, in the end you're just going to either get confused or you're not going to learn fast enough.
everytime i try to record a sample playing on my oxygen8 to make a beat...i can't seem to get it on time... it sounds off whenever a play back even tho i play the sample ontime
Im having a problem with my tracks 'mute' icon blinking but not blinking on or off, just blinking grey 'M' icon. Hoewever, when i solo a track then the track will play normally. Can u help me out with a fix for this?
I just got Logic studio today and I was a fan of Fl Studio for windows but I am not much of a fan of windows since I have had my mac computer. I wanted to know if you have MIDI files how do you edit them I have several MIDI files of Linkin Park songs and I want to remix their songs and other songs I have in MIDI format. I am so new to this program because I used to use Fl Studio 8 & 9 on windows.
This is my issue, I have my arpeggiator working fine but when I bounce the song down it does not show up in the bounce? I am totally stumped I don't know what I'm doing wrong? any help or suggestions would be much appreciated
Hey , could someone help me? The copy and paste bit is good here but what If I want to select a small part of the region in track one. . .copy it, and then paste it into another track? I can never do this. It always pastes it to a place I don't want. In Pro Tools you highlight, copy. . .then click the track and place you want to paste, and paste. Can anyone help?
have logic pro, kjams (karaoke ) , and Alesis mixer. Trying to get Kjams audio to record on input track, and vocals on separate track as I play kjams. Both use USB Audio Codec driver that comes with Alesis. I'm trying to avoid dragging mp3 to track and just record live while I sing via kjams. Both Logic pro and Kjams are set for using USB Audio Codec. I can hear the sound via my mixer fine, but Logic pro does not see it... Can anyone help me hear, I'm a novice. Thanks
@gainesma The reason I want Logic pro to pick up the kjams output sound via USB Audio Codec driver is that it will help me keep the kjams sound output in sync with the singing on a separate track easier for me. I want to hit record on logic pro, play on kjams and sing and wind up with the kjams music on 1 track and vocals of singers on the other track. Then adjust sound qualities, mix/rip. Thanks any help is very appreciated.
@PoGixViRuS Yup he's right. you're experiencing feedback. Probably coz you're recording from your Mac's inbuilt mic. Disable the monitor and you should be fine. :) hope this helps friend.
Please can u make like a whole serious beginner tutorial ? i just bought a logic pro 9 and i want to learn how to make some sick rhythm with strong beats for loads of bass :P
Hey... don't apologize for teaching the very basics. Even for somebody who uses this program often, such as myself, just a simple refresher is invaluable. I hate having to try and find one detail in a 45 minute long tutorial. Thx again.
Guys im a begginer in music production i know how to use garage band easily and im bored with it! I want to buy logic but im not sure if it is so easy what do u think?

@TheAir084 FL studi is shit compared to Logic. Yeah you can make beats with logic, but it's really supposed to be used for A LOT more.
Don't get me wrong though, if all you're going to do is make beats, stick with FL. It's easier and a lot cheaper.

DjSammyFreshh 11 months ago

But how do you move a track around by seconds, not bars.

I was hoping somebody could help me out. I am wanting to get started into music production and trying to chose between Logic Pro and Reason/Record. I like electronic/dub style music, but don't want to be constrained just to that. Any advice on which system to use?

I noticed that its very alike to garageband
i use to use garageband but it I started using fl studio
because garageband didnt have enough tools and options i was looking for great tutorial
im trying to learn CakeWalk
Cubase
Pro tools
Ableton Live
Reason trying to expand my music knowledge
armsoviet1 1 year ago
@armsoviet1 the best thing you can do is pick one DAW and go with it... Either ProTool, Logic are very good ones to begin with... If you are into remixing and live production then you might want to think about Ableton Live!!!!

@imamusicmogul Logic pro doesnt support Vsts right

@armsoviet1 You have a mac and used Garageband and then you switch to Fruityloops instead of logic, allow me to laugh. Seriously man you just skipped the best program ever made if you ask me.
M3sslah 1 year ago
@M3sslah Well Garageband is a piece of shit to make beats
but good and fair to make vocals for a track
but fl studio is really good for making a track its a kool program
yes i wana learn logic
but it doesnt come with Vst? how does that work
armsoviet1 1 year ago
@armsoviet1 Logic on the mac use something called Audio Units, it's their code for VST and most VST's are for both formats. You just have to search for Vanguard AU Mac OSX and so on to find that version. Or whatever AU you want, I just took the vanguard synth as an example of course. Fruity loops is buggy, clipping, and unstable if you ask me, whole PC for me have always felt unstable. So go back and give it a try, but get GURU for it from Fxpansion, a great little drummachine to make beats in.
M3sslah 1 year ago
@armsoviet1 Wow that's a lot of programs you use there, must be rich. It is best just to use a program that suits you, in the end you're just going to either get confused or you're not going to learn fast enough.

Thanks
gainesma 1 year ago
@gainesma The reason I want Logic pro to pick up the kjams output sound via USB Audio Codec driver is that it will help me keep the kjams sound output in sync with the singing on a separate track easier for me. I want to hit record on logic pro, play on kjams and sing and wind up with the kjams music on 1 track and vocals of singers on the other track. Then adjust sound qualities, mix/rip. Thanks any help is very appreciated.
