The word is "never put your hands on a police officer." OK!! I understand that. If I haven't been charged with a crime, what law is it that allows an officer to put his hands on me, especially if I am COMPLYING! Any one that comes up and grabs me or hits me; one of two things happens. A fight takes place, or an assault charge is made, and a law suit follows. If I break the law, the cop has to grab me to cuff me. But if I didn't; I don't want him touching me! Try winning in court against a cop.
this is just a taste of what it feels like to be on the wrong side of the worlds most powerful military. how's it feel? hows it feel to know that your only way to fight back is guerrilla warfare ("terrorism" in american words)?
its is sad to see America tubing in to a fascist police state. Its even sadder to see a fat ugly fascist swine of a crook wearing a uniform and a badge trying to enforce a low he blatantly abuses and brakes on a daily basis. Sue the fat pig, sue him for every penny he's got!!!
Other than the Constitutional freedoms that were infringed that police officer is also guilty of assault/battery, reckless endangerment and false arrest.
You never see a fat soldier or a fat fireman or a fat EMS worker but cops everywhere are bloated to the point of being morbidly obese! They all act like the fat kid in school who tries to bully to get people to respect him.
I love how these videos always start with the cops taking action. They never show what happened BEFORE that got the cops pissed off. AKA not moving when he told them to 10 minutes before.
@Charles4610 Why should he move he is on PUBLIC property and yes I think he is a member of the public? Then the cop pushes him into the road and then says your blockin traffic?? You serious???
@MrMikethemaster If you are disrupting the peace and I tell to to leave, you had better get going. If you tell me to wait I'll drag your sorry ass across the street. He's lucky he only got walked.
@Charles4610 He's in public property, and it seems he's a member of the press; anyone can record in public property. Now the question is, what really happened for the cops to react that way?was he in private property or wasn't?. But it seems that the cops are full of shit to begin with, by any means no cop can push you regardless of the fact, or for that matter push you into the street when traffic flowing. I would sue and win.
@Charles4610 what peace?? he was on the fone. Honestly i dont know the whole story but from the video he got moved across the street ok but why get arrested after taht for saying he has the right to stand on public property tell me that.
@mnc51 If you don't think there are some bad cops out of control -- using excessive force, illegally detaining & arresting folks, etc.. you're as blind as a bat. Just yesterday cops in Wisconsin knocked down a state Rep. wanting to retrieve personal belongings in the state capitol. Guess that's fine w/you... SAD.
Well i'm not here to say 'fuck the police', despite that the report was in the wrong. he failed to obey the officers instructions. plain and simple. When a cop tells you to move, YOU MOVE! He refused it, so he got what's coming for him. He would plead guilty for that. Now I don't wanna hear no shit about the1st admendment or freedom. It's not like the cop is kicking him outta the country or anything. You guys are being way sensitive over this.
@TakerServant No. Cops are supposed to enforce the law - not to shout out demands that have NOTHING to do with the law and assume people will just blindly follow like stupid fucking sheep.
That man had every right to draw a gun and fire on that officer - he was pushing him into a street with moving cars.
People don't seem to understand that when a cop tells you to do something, do it. He or she is not there to have a debate about it or reason with you. The guy was told to move for a reason and instead of doing so, started to become argumentative. If you have a problem with him or her after being moved or arrested, get their information and file a complaint or take it to court.
@marcostar57 A cop wouldn't do that and didn't do that here. Please don't waste people's time by trolling on here unless you have something of significance to contribute. Thanks.
@mnc51 YES SIR!! Yea you sure do sound like some thug cop! "Do what you're told and shut -up!" That's not America but more like Nazi Germany but you probably like things that way. So just eat your "significant" shit buddy boy!
hey asshole stop flagging comments as spam because you dont like what the cops did. the cop told him to move and he should have fucking moved. the reporter is an asshole and so are you
The end is here. Now they are sticking their hands down your goddamn pants at the airport and everyone is like "Please, please Mr. Government, please save me from the big bad boogie man! You can stick a prob up my asshole if it will keep me from pissing my pants over terrorism! HELP ME!!" This country used to be strong and brave. I'm fighting this shit, period.
If everyone who has a problem with a cop would file an official complaint on that officer things might change. I was recently made aware that....especially in big city police departments, complaints (especially numerous complaints) in an officers file.....even if the officer was cleared of charges is very bad for an officers career and can hinder future promotions
@inkey2 Hey guess what....A formal complaint againt a police officer means one thing. A day off from patrol since he has to head on down to the review board and explain off the alligations. In other words a nice easy day in plain cloths and not in uniform
@Treblinka2012 Your a fucking retard. Yeah, riggghttt... a cop going around being dick has the first thing to do with a nuke going off. You are the baby sheep. You're scared shitless and ready to pee your pants whenever the government brings out the boogie man terrorist. Boy did they do a job on you. The governments works for me... not the other way around as you would like to think. Go read the 4th amendment instead of watching bad television again tonight baby boy.
Obviously you people either don't understand English or you fail to realize the authority we've been granted over you by the Dept of Homeland Security.
You are automatically suspected of terrorist activity and until proven otherwise, shall be treated as a terrorist.
If you don't like the new rules, WHY NOT LEAVE?
Nobody's forcing you to live in America, yet you're still here.
@DeptOfLawEnforcement - except that under the Constitution of the United States that type of treatment is illegal....so if you feel that is how your country should be run YOU can leave and stop trying to change ours.
@DeptOfLawEnforcement I'm not going anywhere you fucking retard. Your authority comes from the people only. Period. Unlike you, I'm not scared shitless and ready to pee my pants whenever the government brings out the boogie man terrorist. Boy did they do a job on you. The governments works for me... not the other way around as you would like to think. Go read the 4th amendment instead of watching bad television again tonight baby boy.
People need to brush up on their law as well as their research into what really happened with these videos. This short 54sec clip does not give the whole story, guaranteed. Maybe if people were not so quick to judge, we wouldn't have such hate towards police. Bottom line, these people protect us and they should be praised for it not given a bad name. Policing is different than it was even 15 years ago. Policing has changed and peoples negative attitudes need to change as well.
@cruiserlit Yea their duty is to protect and serve but so many LEOs have decided that being at the top of a social hierarchy somehow fits into that. Every time an LEO uses excessive force their public image is effected and it seems that those same officers don't really care what the public thinks about their actions, which is sad. I know a lot of great people who are LEOs and they generally don't blame the public for resenting them, they blame the assholes that give them a bad name.
Cops are just jocks who werent smart enough or talented enough to go to college. They become cops so they can still get that "big man on campus" feel to their lives.
Cops are just jocks who werent smart enough or talented enough to go to college. They become cops so they can still get that "big man on campus" feel to their lives."
A few of them, yes. They are the bad ones that the field unfortunately attracts. There are, however, many that understand clearly the responsibility and importance of their position.
The cop did not put this guy in danger, if so when the guy was in the street he wouldn't have stood there and argued. If he really thought he was in danger he would have tried to get out of the street, instead he just stood there arguing with the cops. When are people going to learn to just listen to the cops, even if they are wrong, you do what they say and then fight it later.
@shanejpt The cop had no reason to TOUCH the guy. He was on PUBLIC property and he pushed him into the street, then told him HE was in traffic. Fucking cops are just a bunch of dicks.
@justin19841953 how do you know the cop had no reason. if a cop tells you to move, you move and if you don't he can (and has the right to) make you move. This video doesn't show anything about the reason for the cop asking him to move so I don't know why the cop asked him to move. But when the cop says you need to leave and the reporters says "hold on" the cop has every right to make him move, the stupid reporter just did like being told what to do.
@shanejpt No, the cop doesn't have every right. If youre in public space a LEO doesn't have the right to tell you to leave without a valid, legal reason. He most certainly does NOT have the right to push you into what looked like a well travelled surface street for ANY reason. It is people like YOU who think that the cops have "every right" to do as they please that are the problem.I trust you have never had a brush with the law.Your attitude will change when you do.
@driftingeric2k4 and it's people like YOU that would rather be arrested put in jail with criminals just so you can blababa on about rights and constitutions ..see me i have had run in with law before and never once arrested i prefer to stay away from rapists murderers and petty crims ..so when a cop tells me to do a simple thing like move i do it ..but you will enjoy bubba one of these days and whisper to him while he is giving it to you hard in jail whisper to him about your rights
@toddskisyd "so when a cop tells me to do a simple thing like move i do it"
That is wise. Not only will you evade petty annoyances like getting arrested, but you will also be aiding our officers in what is a thankless, difficult, and often dangerous job.
@toddskisyd "and it's people like YOU that would rather be arrested put in jail with criminals just so you can blababa on about rights and constitutions ."
You should respect those that stand up for their rights...they are standing up for yours as well. The day we STOP standing up will be the day they fade into non-existence. It's much easier to suffer a few arrest and lawsuits than to ultimately have to fight a war.
@driftingeric2k4 sorry buddy but your wrong. This video doesn't show why the cop asked the guy to leave, so I have to assume that he had a reason whatever it may be. The fact is, a cop told this guy to leave and he didn't, the cop had the right to then move him, whether you like it or not he did. That's why the cop got zero repremand, because everything he did was legal.
@shanejpt "The fact is, a cop told this guy to leave and he didn't, the cop had the right to then move him, whether you like it or not he did."
Wrong. He had the right to walk away, or proceed to arrest the man. He did not have the right to push him, touch him, rough handle him across the street. This is assault, and is unacceptable.
@goobergel Sorry but that is just not true. It happens everyday somewhere and it's completely legal. I agree the cop should have been nicer/more professional, but so should the reporter. The cop can remove you from property that is not yours without arresting you, they do it all the time and its not that big of a deal.
Um, no, it IS assault. This officer ASSAULTED this individual. It is not legal, and it is not acceptable.
" I agree the cop should have been nicer/more professional, but so should the reporter"
Absolutely agree. However the reporter is not an officer of the law. This fact does not excuse him, however I do not hold him t the same standards as I do an officer of the law.
@shanejpt "The cop can remove you from property that is not yours without arresting you, they do it all the time and its not that big of a deal."
They can tell you to leave... absolutely. And if you refuse, they can arrest you. However they absolutely can not PHYSICALLY ASSULT YOU. If the man was not under arrest there was no reason for the officer to lay a hand on him. If the man refused to move, place him under arrest. If he RESIST arrest, then the officer may use reasonable force.
@driftingeric2k4 as for the sidewalk it's either owned by the city or by the building they are standing in front of, either of those people can ask that people be removed LEGALLY! I'm not sure what happened here, but its wrong to just assume the cop had no reason. That just shows that your anti-police to begin with so no matter what that cop does he's wrong in your eyes.
@shanejpt No it only shows you didn't read what I wrote.I said he has to have a valid, legal reason. So we agree.I am not anti-police.I am anti-police who abuse their powers because they are protected by their own system by its very nature. You know the same amount of the story I do, which is not all of it. Since you are making an assumption and advocating for the officer, why can I not do the same and advocate for the citizen given the fact neither of us know the full story?
@shanejpt " I'm not sure what happened here, but its wrong to just assume the cop had no reason"
If he had reason the officer should have asked the man to leave. If he refused, if officer had cause, he should have arrested him. If not he should have simply walked away. An officer NEVER has the right to assault a citizen. Regardless of the context this was clearly assault. I expect more professionalism from our officers of the law. This one seems to be under par.
@driftingeric2k4 I'm sorry to tell you the cop does have the right to remove him from this property. The argument should be wether or not he put this guy in danger. While there is an argument to be made I don't think this reporter was put in any danger. If so he would have tried to get out of the street instead of stand in the middle of the street and argue with the cop, that alone prove that this reported wasn't worried about the danger of being in the street.
The conduct of the police in this clip is disgraceful. If Australian police did this, they would be suspended on the spot pending a state investigation. It's conduct like this that alienates the police from the rest of the community. What these ignorant officers don't realise is that they need the support and compliance of the community, but they aint gonna get with this kind of outrageous behaviour. Was one of the policemen sucking on a cigar???
Let me get this straight. You put me in my place "in front of the whole world" because A) You made an unqualified claim that Obama's election will lead to loss of basic freedoms; B) You claimed passage of a modest healthcare reform bill will lead to fines and jail time; C) You point to a liberal blogger's analysis of the bill to support your claims, despite the fact the analysis in NO way supports your claims D) You deny the Patriot Act represents a threat to our civil liberties. Got it.
"You're under arrest, Buster." Trailer park trash in uniform is still trailer park trash. I'm guessing that cigar hanging out of his mouth is as long as his dick is short.
@cougarfanparkingonly : huh!! if in my country ,if cops doing that, we just take down their names n make a report ,the officer will get a disciplinary action taken!!!!
scumbags scumbags I taperecorded a cop before and because he ripped up the tape the case was tossed hahaha you stupid cops maybe you should fallow the rules I'f I can mess your job up anyone can you dumb shits.... how are you cops?
Im sooooooo Glad that im NOT AMERICAN i though when OBAMA got into power things were going to change like he promissed guess those people who voted him in are regreting that. Fucked up Americans thinking your all that!! but really your just a bunch of pussys who think they can tell other contrys what to do. now i know why your the most hated contry on the planet expecially by Europeans like myself :D
p.s. i prefer CANADA the ppl nicer and its not a police state. =D
@adamsworld2k8 Hey don't confuse our corrupt politicians and cops with ordinary citizens. Most ordinary Americans are decent people and nice, just like you Canadians.
@deephot Continued.. little research, you will find that I am 100% right. Just go look on youtube for vids since my guess is that is where you get most of your information anyway. As far as the winger comment. Call it what you will, but what I said is in the bill. Every born American will be forced to pay for healthcare, or be fined and/or incarcerated. What does this mean to neophytes like you? You are born into a system from which you must work to pay into, or be fined and jailed. Slavery 101.
@jargainjones I am very familiar with the bill. Please point to page and line numbers that reference being "fined and jailed" if one does not purchase health insurance. You CAN'T, because that language does not exist anywhere in the bill. Same goes for "death panels." You have clearly bought into the misinformation campaign waged by establishment lobbyists who will fight tooth and nail against ALL progressive reform that threatens corporate profitability. Pull your head out...
@deephot Hey you ignorant neanderthal. Look at this - type this into google 'fact sheet the truth about the health care bill'. You are being put in your place in front of the whole world now. This is what I want people to see. Liberals being proven wrong time and time again. Read it and weep you disgusting neophyte.
@jargainjones Thanks for the partisan blog reference. Jane Hamsher is a hard-core liberal and regular contributor to the Huffington Post. In fact, I've always liked her and I agree with her "fact sheet" analysis of the bill. If you re-read my posts, I never stated the health care bill was perfect. I merely challenged your paranoid, misinformed understanding of it. Again, please cite page and line numbers to support your claims of fines, death panels and jail time.
@jargainjones Let me get this straight. Got it.
@jargainjones How old are you? 12? Ever consider taking an anger management class? Ever locate the requested page and line numbers regarding fines, jail time and death panels? (This one should be easy for you since you've studied the actual bill at length and have used the Internet to conduct extensive "research" on this topic.) Does it make you feel superior to use big words like "neanderthal" and "neophyte?" Ever taken a course in logic? Do you know what "ad hominem" means? Just wondering...
@deephot When somebody retorts with nothing but questions, then I know right away they lost the argument, and are in a sort of panic mode. You were proven wrong in front of the world, and you retort with a plethora of baseless rhetorical questions. At least in the end, I know I taught you something, regardless of how much spite you have built up for truthsayers such as myself. Sorry.
@jargainjones When you make paranoid and unqualified assertions about a piece of legislation which you claim to have studied and "researched" in-depth, and then can't provide a simple page number from the actual bill to support your claims, it tells me (and the whole world) you're pulling shit out of your ass. You failed here, my friend, and you didn't teach me jack shit. If you're going to spew opinions in public, be prepared to back them up or shut your pie-hole.
@jargainjones When somebody makes bold claims, but can't deliver one shred of documentation to back them up, I know right away that person has lost the argument and is most definitely in panic mode. You were proven to be a paranoid hack who still believes the healthcare reform bill will lead to fines and jail time if you refuse to purchase insurance. LOL. In the end, I know none of this taught you anything because you are an uneducated fool. LOL.
@deephot Here we go again, just a liberal making up excuses, name calling, and coming up with baseless retorts. Same old same old. I bring the proof, you bring the slander; what can I say, I am more logical.
@400lbGuerrilla Huh? Better to have corporate profit and civil rights protection than corporate profit and no protection under the law. Upholding the constitution, enacting laws, and enforcing the laws of the land do not threaten a free market and/or corporate profit. You're living in La La Land.
Germany's vaguely defined right in the Grundgesetz mean that your civil rights are largely up to the judicial branch. "Human dignity shall be inviolable" what the fuck does that even mean? "The right of the people to keep and bear arms", while still open to interpretation, is open to far LESS interpretation.
@ruinyourdaywithpiss a scene like that wouldnt be possible in germany, not only because of the Grundgesetz, rather because our laws refering to the rights of the police. Our cops are mostly very lawful and if something like that would happen he wouldnt be wearing his uniform much longer. We once had a police state here, we're very careful with those issues now
Bigger picture people, I dont know what happened there all we see is the guy being pushed into the street by a dick cop. Did he provoke them ? Dont know, but the provocation wasnt warranting arrest it was warranting him being pushed into the street apparently. So what does it say about the po police? They arrest him after he basically asks what is wrong with you? Bottom line people cops are nobody's that crave power hence why they became cops when you show they dont have any power they get mad.
@Darusdei nope! And it also doesn't help that so many people refuse to admit what is going on and refuse to wake up and see what is happening not just to the US but all over the world. B. Franklin once said, Men should not trade freedom for security and those that do deserve neither. That isn't word for word but that is the meaning of what he said and it is sooooo true.
@jargainjones Are you kidding? What about The Patriot Act? When Bush signed that into law we lost much of our freedom then. Obama is only taking up where Bush left off. we have got to stop these men, and I use the word "men" lightly. They are criminals, treasonists and teh true terrorists against the American people.
@JokerMouce Name one freedom we lost? Stop spewing your garbage like everybody else on the left who doesn't know what they are talking about; so they always revert back to something so insignificant and something that sounds detrimental, yet if you bothered to do any research you would realize we haven't lost anything. We have, however, lost our freedoms thanks to Obama signing the healthcare bill which, come 2014, will force every born American to purchase healthcare or be fined and jailed.

@jargainjones Please explain how the healthcare reform bill equals loss of freedom. That's the problem with you winger idiots, you repeat everything you hear on the radio or on FOX Noise, without knowing any facts. Did you even read the bill? Of course you didn't. Oh, and I would call silencing a member of the working press who appears on a public sidewalk, a clear violation of his first amendment right. You are an ignoramus, just like most of your wing-nut brethren.
@deephot Deephot - how can you argue with me when your leaders don't read bills, but argue them endlessly? Lets take the Arizona immigration bill that recently came out. After asking your liberal leaders about the bill, they all said they haven't even read it (this was weeks after the bill was in place and becoming law). Those same leaders you worship, had lawyers write a 2k+ healthcare bill that they didn't read either, and they passed it as law. If you do a little research, you will find that
You're trolling. The charges were dropped and if you knew shit about Denver you'd know that Brown Palace staff routinely harass people who linger on that sidewalk and the cops always go along.
All you see is the cops response... nothing more. I am sure that dude was warned several times before hand but that doesn't sell news... getting arrested is a bigger story, so tell the cop to hold on. Keep disobeying and see what happens. Then bitch about it on here.
DIsobeying? It's not illegal to be on public property and not illegal to report or use your 1st amendment. It is however illegal to push someone into a street or assault them or even touch them without reading them their rights. You are either a cop or a slave, either way you just like being on the winning side. Youre not an individual.
Ur stupidity is so overwhelming that I am getting a headache reading your post! First, again, the video doesnt show what happen before hand and second you dont have to read someone their rights before laying your hands on them. Miranda Rights are for questioning someone prior to conducting a custodial interrogation. I should be charging you for this lesson in law course, first, you would have to graduate kindergarten to be able to understand it! Signed the non-individual lawman slave.
When a city feels threaten they impose martial law evenif they don't say it. A system of rules that take effect if the military takes control of the normal administration of justice. Although this wont play out in most courts.
hey all you coward Denver police officers. Mainly you baldy...i am in colorado.. come to my town and try and push me across the street and see what happens. Try me!
it would be pretty hilarious if a cop tried to push around an off duty state trooper and the local cop while he was onduty got arested by the state trooper
@ff509 Actually no, they can not push us around. This officer was WAY out of line and should be dealt with. I don't know the context of this situation, however aside from arresting someone, an officer should never make physical contact with a citizen. This man has an excellent case for assault--he would win hands down.
I respect cops, but he's a reporter that's part of his job getting around cops to get a story...im sure they deal with the cops all the time so, is it really wrong what the reporter did? Or the cop? No...they were both doing their job...stupid video.
Can i just say that when ever i feel like to anyone? To my thinking the reported is baiting the officer. No one else sees that? the reporter is smiling and looking to the camera lens. the officer is ticked off, but maybe the reported is totally baiting and has no one on his cell phone. See what i mean. A set up to help his career-- the reporter's career. I know: officers from now should Never be able to tell anyone anything; that solves everything.
Wow! Pushing into traffic. Cop duing an arrest while having a cigar in his mouth. It almost looks like their trying to be unprofessional. Cops look more like thugs to me. Fuck the police!

TakerServant 11 months ago
@TakerServant No. Cops are supposed to enforce the law - not to shout out demands that have NOTHING to do with the law and assume people will just blindly follow like stupid fucking sheep.
That man had every right to draw a gun and fire on that officer - he was pushing him into a street with moving cars.
mit26chell 10 months ago 2
People don't seem to understand that when a cop tells you to do something, do it. He or she is not there to have a debate about it or reason with you. The guy was told to move for a reason and instead of doing so, started to become argumentative. If you have a problem with him or her after being moved or arrested, get their information and file a complaint or take it to court.
mnc51 11 months ago
@mnc51 OK -- so a cop can tell you to jump into the middle of a busy street and you'd better obey him -- right?!
Sieg Heil!

Policing has changed and peoples negative attitudes need to change as well.
cruiserlit 1 year ago
@cruiserlit Yea their duty is to protect and serve but so many LEOs have decided that being at the top of a social hierarchy somehow fits into that. Every time an LEO uses excessive force their public image is effected and it seems that those same officers don't really care what the public thinks about their actions, which is sad. I know a lot of great people who are LEOs and they generally don't blame the public for resenting them, they blame the assholes that give them a bad name.

When are people going to learn to just listen to the cops, even if they are wrong, you do what they say and then fight it later.
shanejpt 1 year ago
@shanejpt The cop had no reason to TOUCH the guy. He was on PUBLIC property and he pushed him into the street, then told him HE was in traffic. Fucking cops are just a bunch of dicks.
justin19841953 1 year ago
@justin19841953 how do you know the cop had no reason. if a cop tells you to move, you move and if you don't he can (and has the right to) make you move. This video doesn't show anything about the reason for the cop asking him to move so I don't know why the cop asked him to move. But when the cop says you need to leave and the reporters says "hold on" the cop has every right to make him move, the stupid reporter just did like being told what to do.
shanejpt 1 year ago
@shanejpt No, the cop doesn't have every right. If youre in public space a LEO doesn't have the right to tell you to leave without a valid, legal reason. He most certainly does NOT have the right to push you into what looked like a well travelled surface street for ANY reason. It is people like YOU who think that the cops have "every right" to do as they please that are the problem.I trust you have never had a brush with the law.Your attitude will change when you do.

toddskisyd 1 year ago
@toddskisyd "so when a cop tells me to do a simple thing like move i do it"
That is wise. Not only will you evade petty annoyances like getting arrested, but you will also be aiding our officers in what is a thankless, difficult, and often dangerous job.
goobergel 1 year ago
@toddskisyd "and it's people like YOU that would rather be arrested put in jail with criminals just so you can blababa on about rights and constitutions ."
You should respect those that stand up for their rights...they are standing up for yours as well. The day we STOP standing up will be the day they fade into non-existence. It's much easier to suffer a few arrest and lawsuits than to ultimately have to fight a war.
goobergel 1 year ago

This is assault, and is unacceptable.
goobergel 1 year ago
@goobergel Sorry but that is just not true. It happens everyday somewhere and it's completely legal. I agree the cop should have been nicer/more professional, but so should the reporter. The cop can remove you from property that is not yours without arresting you, they do it all the time and its not that big of a deal.
shanejpt 1 year ago
@shanejpt "It happens everyday somewhere"
I have no doubt this is true.
" and it's completely legal"
Um, no, it IS assault. This officer ASSAULTED this individual. It is not legal, and it is not acceptable.
" I agree the cop should have been nicer/more professional, but so should the reporter"
Absolutely agree. However the reporter is not an officer of the law. This fact does not excuse him, however I do not hold him t the same standards as I do an officer of the law.
goobergel 1 year ago

That just shows that your anti-police to begin with so no matter what that cop does he's wrong in your eyes.
shanejpt 1 year ago
@shanejpt No it only shows you didn't read what I wrote.I said he has to have a valid, legal reason. So we agree.I am not anti-police.I am anti-police who abuse their powers because they are protected by their own system by its very nature. You know the same amount of the story I do, which is not all of it. Since you are making an assumption and advocating for the officer, why can I not do the same and advocate for the citizen given the fact neither of us know the full story?
driftingeric2k4 1 year ago
@shanejpt " I'm not sure what happened here, but its wrong to just assume the cop had no reason"
If he had reason the officer should have asked the man to leave. If he refused, if officer had cause, he should have arrested him. If not he should have simply walked away. An officer NEVER has the right to assault a citizen. Regardless of the context this was clearly assault. I expect more professionalism from our officers of the law. This one seems to be under par.
goobergel 1 year ago
@driftingeric2k4 I'm sorry to tell you the cop does have the right to remove him from this property. The argument should be wether or not he put this guy in danger. While there is an argument to be made I don't think this reporter was put in any danger. If so he would have tried to get out of the street instead of stand in the middle of the street and argue with the cop, that alone prove that this reported wasn't worried about the danger of being in the street.

jargainjones 1 year ago
@jargainjones I am very familiar with the bill. Please point to page and line numbers that reference being "fined and jailed" if one does not purchase health insurance. You CAN'T, because that language does not exist anywhere in the bill. Same goes for "death panels." @jargainjones Thanks for the partisan blog reference. Jane Hamsher is a hard-core liberal and regular contributor to the Huffington Post. Does it make you feel superior to use big words like "neanderthal" and "neophyte?" Ever taken a course in logic? Do you know what "ad hominem" means? Just wondering...

@truthbetoldanon Well rights don't have to be read until quiestioning but the other points I agree with you on...

When a city feels threaten they impose martial law evenif they don't say it. A system of rules that take effect if the military takes control of the normal administration of justice. Although this wont play out in most courts.

And they wonder why people shoot cops? (Recently 4 were shot.) You can only push people so far, not wise on their part.

another reason why cops need more than a high school education and a lack luster "police training" course. sad really.

it would be pretty hilarious if a cop tried to push around an off duty state trooper and the local cop while he was onduty got arested by the state trooper

thats right you little punk
knoxvillehill 2 years ago
@ff509 Actually no, they can not push us around. This officer was WAY out of line and should be dealt with. I don't know the context of this situation, however aside from arresting someone, an officer should never make physical contact with a citizen. This man has an excellent case for assault--he would win hands down.

I respect cops, but he's a reporter that's part of his job getting around cops to get a story...im sure they deal with the cops all the time so, is it really wrong what the reporter did? Or the cop? No...they were both doing their job...stupid video.
sweetgurlie1982 2 years ago
well, the lesson is just to listen, to LISTEN when the police say something. he told the police to hold on.
harnessbells 2 years ago
yea, the only crime in that video was wrongful arrest. You're not legally bound to listen to a police officer that's violating your rights.
Largehippo 2 years ago 2
the reported said: " ok, hold on."

The law is all that's relevant. That's the officer's job. He broke it. Emotion doesn't dictate legality in any way.
