Unfortunately you can't make her like him, because females are going to be aggressive towards the male. When they are sexually receptive they won't attack him because they want to mate. But all other times the male and female should be separated
Hi im pretty 100% sure that your not going to read this but im going to say it anyways what do i have to do so my female betta could like my male betta? please be able to read this.
Ok I know your comment has been up for like 2 months but to anyone that dosn't know how to tell a male or female betta apart the male has the longer beutiful tail and the female has a shorter less beutiful tail The resin is cuz the other fish will go after the more attractive fish so the male is stronger and can fight off the other fish and the other fish won't bother the female. Glad to help - petlover0505
i really really need to no what my betta fish is either a male or female by tomorrow i really need help someone please check out my video of him/her and tell me what it is pleaseee!!!
@RawwrDinos Don't worry, most of the females will be bigger...and more brutal. lol It won't mess anything up, she'll just dominate him like females usually do. Make sure she doesn't get too aggressive though and separate them if she starts to really attack the male (which is common). Glad you are feeding them well though! Good luck!
So Ive Always wondered this Hopefully you can answer this (:
So You know how Male betta's fight other male betta's, so Ive been wanting to add a female so hes not lonely ;P But also i'm not sure because if she has babies i had ready the male cares for them and then he might actually eat them but if he doesn't and they grow and perhaps one of the babies turn to be a boy and grow actually up will he attack them ? And will i have to separate him into another tank ?
@RawrAmandurz Yes, the males will fight each other. So if they do grow up, you will need to have separate tanks for the babies (or sell them/give them away if you don't want to keep them). Only females can be kept together, if the tank is large enough. The male will eat the eggs sometimes, but the hope is that enough make it through and survive hatching that you can separate them soon enough so he doesn't eat them since tiny babies= tempting food.
@OneNOnlyCassie Congrats on your decision to have betta! They are the best. It doesn't matter what color Juliet is, really. It matters what her GENETICS are. You know, there are different types of traits that can come through and color is not a simple dominant-recessive trait. If you get a red female it doesn't mean you'll have red babies necessarily. BUT the only way to know the genetics is to know that of the parents. If not, my advice is to just get a color that is close to reddish.
My girl betta and boy betta fight or at least he chases her and i found out shes pregnant.I keep finding the eggs at the bottem and whenever i put the boy with the girl they fight.
@Moshimonsterable Yes, it is normal for females and males to fight. Usually the males will care for the eggs but they end up eating them a lot of the time. if you get eggs they should be in a more shallow tank with the male, and keep the female separate.
I'm really seeing a lot of comments of people talking about their tanks with both male and female. NEVER leave a male and a female together in the same tank. they might get along for a few days, weeks, even months, but eventually one will tear the other one apart.
my male betta is scared of the new female i got for him...he quit making bubble nests & keeps to himself on the other side of the tank..is that normal?
@kendraiscoolio This is normal. He might be scared of her, since females are pretty dominant. Also, she may not be receptive to mating so he knows that he should back off. I've had male betta who make bubble nests all the time, and some only once in a blue moon. So the reason for yours stopping seems normal. Unless you see him eating less or showing signs of true sickness or parasite infection, I wouldn't worry.
You may need to buy a separator. Most of the time (if not all) the male or the female will tear the other one apart. You don't want your male's beautiful fins ripped up. I took this video with caution and never left them alone like that unsupervised. I would only add it if you are planning on using a tank separator. Good luck!
nice bettas, i wish females and males could get along, alot less tanks id have to buy lol. and the male isn't a halfmoon, it looks like a delta tail. still looks really good though!
Males are typically larger, but the most distinctive feature between them is fin size and shape. Most females have smaller, less fancy fins (our female's fins were actually pretty big for a female) but obviously there is no comparison between her and the male's fins. Also, a male will create a bubble nest and female's will not.
@aj98100 Males bettas such as halfmoon, veil tail, crowntail, and double tail have longer tail than the female. Plakat bettas and female bettas can sometimes be easily mixed up by others because they have short tail, but plakat make bettas have a little more longer fin on the bottom fin.
well ur not supose to put female and males together unless ur breeding them. If you are breeding them yesh it's normal for the male to attack the female but if they arent breeding dont put them together
no way male will kill the female >:( if u want to mate them put them in different glass (transparant) and let them see eachother, wait until the male is not aggresive anymore then you caan mate them, and the male will not attack the female
Can I keep my female with my male after they mated? I really don't wanna put my female in my tiny 2.5 gallon while my male is being spoiled in my 10 gallon, I really want them to stay together, can I let them?
it really does depend im trying to get my male betta used to being with females at al times and its working but i wouldnt try it because they just spawned
You might not want to do that. If the female sticks around, the male in a probability will kill her. I have a male and female and that is the reason I have them separated.
hello. i started to breed my betta 3 days ago and this is the first time that i ever breed fish besides guppies (boring). You seem to have some breeding experience so could you do me a favor and watch my betta videos and tell me if i'm doing anything wrong? thanx, i would really appreciate it.
You can mate them in this tank, but it is not recommended. Usually a tank that is wide but a bit more shallow is better, so that if any of the eggs fall from the bubbles the male is able to retrieve them easier. The female would need to be removed after mating, otherwise she'll attack the male and is more likely to eat the eggs.
Noooo. male bettas like to live solitary lives. if you wanna get a female, house her in a separate bowl but keep her next to him. thats what i do. he'll like it.
but if i have male and female betta they like automaticly spawn and tahts the problem couse then i got to move female on safe and i get fry and when i put female back they spawn again(propably)
ok i wanna get 2 betta fish and i want to put them in the same tank can i do that or will they kill eachother cuz im being tld u can but only sometime and ive heard u cant i wanna no if i can all the time or no
The only time you could put two in the same tank is if they are male and female, and it's only for a short time while you supervise them. Other than that, they should be kept separate. Males should never be kept together.
actually u can put alot of females together but dey have to be same size and must have atleast 3 female bettas .. dey will nible at eachother from time to time but dey wont go all out and kill eachother
There shouldn't be any problems. It's better to have a male with more than one female so that the male doesn't overexhaust one female. However, if they get too aggressive, you must separate them. Sometimes they do okay in a huge community tank so I'd say try it and monitor their activity.
males and females dont need to be separated atall, 1 male and 3 females will be fine in a 20 gal tank, but you must have atleast 3 females so the male doesnt over exhaust the one female and kill it,
I wouldn´t keep a male with 3 females coz females get bitchy too,I talk by experience ones I had 3 Female on one Male the grew up toghether nothing happend the get along very well but after 4 Month the females attacking eachother till death oh and my tank was 55 gallon. Now I keep my male in a 15 gall. tank alone last week I tried to put a female in, but he attacks her like any others fish I put in.
It really depends. They might just fight, especially if the female is not "in heat" which occurs often but you can tell if she is usually by seeing a dark stripe across her sides.
I switch them every month. My male's tail does get a bit riffed but when he's not on the filter side it is fine. I'd say keep him on the non-filter side all the time just to be safe.
kentran042392 - sowhat around 6months it depends but the best way to tell is when you see verticle stripes on the females flanks when she is ready to spawn.(If the stripes are horizontal this is a sign of stress)
Most breeding pairs are kept separately and then brought together when you're going to have them mate. The affect of having the female and male together constantly seems to diminish their drive which would be stronger if they weren't just divided in one tank and could see each other all the time. There's been success with both methods but if you are serious about breeding, then use separate tanks.
Maturity should be around 4-5 months. You can start breeding past this age but it's best to wait longer so that both the male & female have time to reach max size & strength, to have the best production of offspring. (i.e., a dog is sexually mature anywhere from 6-12 months of age, but you wouldn't want a puppy to get pregnant!) Size varies so I can't really say. I had a female that was TINY for a whole year. Males might be more consistent in size but I'm not sure on the specific 'dimensions'.
I hope that your sister has another home for the girlie. A male and female betta should not be permanently housed together. It may work for a few days, weeks, etc, but one day you'll turn on the lights and find one of them dead. The only times a male and female should be together is after a conditioning period for breeding.
wow those are really preety fishes...i love the red one....i have a aqua one...he is a male his name is Aquamarin....comment my video plz....thanks....=D
Nice Fish......I just got a tank .I have a betta male and female and 6 tetras and they get aong nice. However I had an additional female but she was tooo wild now she has her own bowl.
Thanks! They are both still alive, although Axel had gone through a rough bacterial infection and so his gills and fins aren't as grand now as they once were, but he's getting better every day. But they are both happy and healthy right now! :)
"They are like the best fish ever" Wow nice choice of words, why dont you just grab a dirty old rock and paint it bright red and put it in your tank. The rock is more interesting than that stupid fuckin fish.
The reason why it seems like my betta aren't moving much is because they know that when they see me, they'll be getting food. Actually, both of them tend to swim up and down the front of the tank for some weird reason when they see me because they get excited about food. But in this video, they are more or less waiting for me to feed them. You have nice and active goldfish, but I'm sure they are not swimming constantly. I can take another vid of my betta if you so desire.
wow!!! i have never seen a beta male fish so beautifull!!!! i hope my female beta gives me one like that! they are doing their thing now so she can realease their eggs
Heh heh, now I'm on my own account. >.> But yeah, both betta are doing great and I wanted both a male and a female even though I don't know much about breeding I'm not sure I'm going to be serious about it. But they're both kept separate (or put together for a few minutes and supervised)
oh. Thats cool. ^-^ But I really think you should try to breed them! Or you could always get a female that looks more like the male. Wow he's a reeeal looker!
No, I have a divider for that tank that I use. The female is a bit spunky when she wants to be, though. But they get along better than most I've seen!
DAMNNN! YOUR FISH ARE BEAUTIFUL! That's the most EXOTIC (male and female) betta I've ever seen.
